Sarasbaug Ganesh Temple

During the Peshwa era this place used to be a man-made lake for boating. In the lake there is a small man-made small hill. On the top of that Peshwa constructed the temple. " Shri Siddhivinayak Ganpati"

Shrimant Nanasaheb Peshwa gave it a poetic name, “The Sarasbaug ”.  In 1784, Shrimant Sawai Madhavrao Peshwa built a small temple in Sarasbaug and installed the idol of Shree Siddhivinayak Gajanan, the God he worshiped. Sarasbaug has now become a place of worship for people from all over the world.
Saras cranes were brought to the garden to reside in the lake waters, by Sawai Madhavrao Peshwa, thus, giving it the name “Sarasbaug”. During the Peshwa period, the lake provided a great spot for boating aka “Nauka vihar”.

Nice peaceful place inside the temple, a seperate room of Lord Ganesh idols in all its different forms present backside of the temple with a 5/- nominal fee. Park surrounding it is also good except for the walking path which is full of couples. A Mela just beside it and chat Street makes it a good place to spend the evenings with. Very nice temple.the white marble lord Ganesha is very cute and powerful.he is known to fulfill the wishes of the devotees.we visited the temple in December.lord was wearing the warm winter clothes with a woollen cap too.he looked very cute.
The baug or the park around the temple needs maintenance.the approaching bridge with three level stairs have no lights and poorly maintained.looks like the stairs are a place for the couples.all sorts of activities were happening at ever corner of the three level stairs of the connecting bridge.pathetic scene.where are the cops? Is this amchi Pune swacchh Pune? Sad state.the entire park is poorly lit with dogs all over the place.the benches were all occupied by the dogs.we can call it a stray dogs park.

Better known as तळ्यातला गणपती by old Punekars, the entire vastu is excellent example of Maratha architecture, especially during rule of Peshawa.
The Ganesh idol is made of white marble, like all other murtis during era, can be viewed from any spot of temple.
The experience of spending time in this place cannot be explained in words, but one has to feel in person.
Small museum in the surrounding is an effort to show how far one can go to see Ganapati to idol form.

Saras Baug is a specious garden in heart of city with a lovely Ganesh temple. Ganesh idol is very enchanting and the ambiance of the place makes one relax and pensive.
Once you get down the temple steps the garden changes your mood and you can enjoy the time stroll on grass.

Beutiful temple still holding on tu old trmple structure no modern useless cement walls arround it. I would recomend to visit in the morning between 6 to 8am. Its super peacefull and energatically devine atmosphere during that time. Temple has parking across the road which is very odd. But good thing is there is a foot over bridge connecting the parking and temple garden so you wont have risk crossing road. Overall very nice place to visit in morning.

पेशवेकालीन मंदिर पाहिले तळ्यातल्या गणपती म्हणून प्रसिद्ध होत नंतर त्याचे नाव सारस बाग पडले. खूप सुंदर शांत जागा पुणे चा माध्यमवर्ती ठिकाणच्या आहे. मंदिरा भवती महानगर पालिकेने बाग व धाव पट्टी बनविली आहे. परिसर एकदम हिरवा गार आहे व मंदिरा भवती कमल रोपले आहेत. सकाळच्या वेळी गेलात तर सगळे एक दुसर्यांना "श्री हरी" म्हणन प्रणाम करतात. लहान मुले ते जेष्ठ नागरीक सगळ्यान करता मस्त विरंगुळाची जागा म्हणजे "सारस बाग". गणपती बाप्पा मोरया

There is a Ganapati temple inside Saras Baug. Nicely maintained and clean.
The entrances needs to be worked out. The gardens inside are quite clean. But some people throw their chips packets or ghutka package over the grass and on pathways, this needs to stop and requires strict monitoring and punishments.

Apart from this, you feel positive vibes inside temple. Calm and serene. There is lotus pond circling the temple.

Since a lot of people might miss dagdusheth, you can visit this one as an alternative! Nestled in between a park, don't forget to have ginni bhel while strolling and dont forget to visit the ganpathi museum! You'll be mesmerized by the variety of stones, the ganpathi has been carved on! It's beautiful!
