An almost Fawlty Towers experience, without the humour. Hotel experiences are often made from the point of check in, however this hotel has a middle aged chap working in the evenings who is miserable, indifferent and rude. On check it took ages as he couldn't work out the visa /Effro that we had shown, and kept demanding is to right down our address, despite this being clearly on the documents we had shown him.
When then given room, we were allocated a cheaper type of room with single beds; after going back to complain he said no rooms were available, however he eventually allocated us the correct rooms that had been booked and paid for.
As we then found out later that we hadn't been given internet access, which I had to ask for the next day, and he became rude and belligerent saying he would send an IT guy up, which actually wasn't the issue. The general attitude was extremely poor and other guests were also having issues with the same person.
As a regular traveler into Mumbai for work we had chosen this hotel for location, as our regular place was unfortunately fully booked, so we decided to give this place a try based on a suggestion from a business colleague.
I will however say that the staff in the bar / restaurant were actually very friendly and polite, and totally different to the front of house.
Sadly through this experience alone I would not use this hotel ever again. Further to make this worse, I was called by "Deepak" the next day, who spent 10 minutes trying to defend his position and his staff, which from a service industry point of view has further increased my dissatisfaction with our experience at this hotel.
Edited to respond to the written response, which is giving a different version of the events. I would suggest avoiding this place, as it is clear that they don't listen to feedback, or accept any responsibility for their poor service. Avoid, avoid, avoid
Abysmal front desk service. The guy in reception on the evenings of the 2nd & 3rd was rude. Tried to place me and my colleague in rooms with single beds when we clearly booked comfort rooms. He initially lied stating that is all that was available until I challenged him to give us the rooms we had paid for. Lied about the WiFi stating that it was faulty when the guy on duty in the day time gave us the coupon for logging on. In my opinion, first impressions count and this staff member gives your hotel a negative perception. Will not be returning in future. Update - 5/2/24: Just received a call from the hotel and guess what? The so-called manager started wanting to justify the appalling behaviour of his staff and was unwilling to listen to the feedback required in order to able to improve their service. And this is meant to be the service industry? Well, the service was well below one-star if you ask me. Stay here at your peril - "a clever man learns from his mistakes, a wise man learns from other peoples".
Shalimar Hotel situated at Kemps Corner, Mumbai. They have a beautiful, tasty, chocolaty cakes and pastry shop. Cakes are so yummy, sponge is super soft, melts in your mouth. If you are in town, and have an opportunity to stay or visit Shalimar Hotel, don't miss the cake shop. At various intervals they come out with various themes.e. G. Thai massage, various special menus. A neat and cozy hotel. Good service. Cooperative staff.
The staff was great. The receptionists were very helpful and answered all our questions.clean and bright, and the room service was always on time. Will be coming back! Thank you so much.
Asked what is required for a hotel, Conrad Hilton is reported to have replied " Location, location, location. " The Shalimar owns a SUPERB location at Kemp's Corner in the heart of Mumbai.just unbeatable. Rooms of the hotel are spacious and well appointed.bathrooms are on the larger size with both tubs and shower cubicles, and an excellent finish. The free breakfast buffet at the restaurant is not lavish, but sufficient and satisfying.you can get eggs of choice and a fruit bowl to order without any extra charge. If you want a quick bite, the pastry shop has an array of cakes, sandwiches, burgers which can be taken away or eaten there itself. Staff are efficient but not intrusive.nobody hovers around till you feel a compulsion to tip them. I appreciate this. All in all.a comfortable, friendly and accessible place to stay in Mumbai.the many repeat customers testify to it's popularity.
We three were best.from L to R Nakul Bhai my friend, Dinesh Bhai my tour guide n trainer and that's me. Thank you all for ur love n support. That's Ashu Bhai ji my brother. Me n My Wife. Thank you for your Love & Support. Without You this trip wouldn't have been so memorable. ️ ️ ️
Made a friend stay here for a night as he was here for a business meeting and wanted some affordable place to stay the night in town - South Mumbai. He was surprised with the cleanliness, quality, effectiveness and no frills rooms, very cosy at the same time business like with a little quirk. Very well connected with South Mumbai places and lot of veg hotels around to eat. Grant road station is a short 10-15 mins walk. Staff is very helpful and patient, food is best ordered via swiggy, Zomato - inhouse there are limited options.
The hotel is nice as far as location also cool 10 minutes to Gateway of India Best part is hotel situated in central Mumbai, but room size is small in this price.
We had 2 rooms booked but he didn’t let us enter because whatever reason and he was very rude, i dnt suggest This hotel at all, worst experience ever. He didn’t let us enter at 11: 30 night we had to go home, such a shameless and unprofessional behaviour!
The staff guy name was karan! Worst experience ever! Book some other hotel for stay coz their staff is not friendly at all!
A clean accommodation should be like this. We entered at hotel room nearly night 02.00 hr. At that time we get worm enough service from staff. Room and wash room are unbelievably too clean, it was a nice stay there with good and testy complimentary breakfast. Only thing is room and wash room is too small but that's not an issue at all.
Good place to stay. But only point to consider is they don't allow you to swiggy food and if you have eat you have dine in at their restaurant or dine out elsewhere.
We had stayed there for around a week, The rooms were very comfortable and the space was judicially used. The breakfast was complimentary, sufficient, and good. The staff was very courteous and well-mannered. The wifi was good and was able to office/stream meeting/events with it.
Hotel is located a very good place But there food is very very expensive and also not to much quantity in high price. Hotel staff is very very good and polite and also helpful special front desk.
One of the Classic Hotels of South Mumbai Looks like time has never stopped. This hotel is best known for their dining restaurant Gulmarg serves a variety of veg and non veg dishes.
The ambiance of the hotel is very pleasant and very elegant. Food is very scrumptious and the service overall of the Hotel is Top Notch. Highly recommend it if you're in town
I highly recommend this hotel for stay. It's fantastic hotel in a perfect location as rooms were very clean, specious and comfortable. They maintain safety of guests n proper hygeine in every way in hotel. Food is very tasty with better quality. Staff are also very professional and helpfull. I appreciate their services and support. Thanks you keep up your good work.
1) Cleaning has been done only twice during my 10 days stay. 2) I didn't take the breakfast at all though it was complimentary then also they charged me extra for few cups of teas without any prior information. 3) Misguided by the hotel staff.
Absolutely outstanding hotel perfectly located. Helpful, friendly staff who go above and beyond to make sure you have the best time.great menu choices and really decent food and at affordable prices.specially bakery products are tasty.
Went yesterday wt couple friends fr lunch. Food was good except dt all d dishes including soup n starters were a bit less in Salt. Service was good but a bit slow. Ambience is good n all necessary covid precautions were taken.
Possibly the most overrated hotel by their own standards! It’s really just a 3 star at best. They demand high prices coz of the location but the location itself is outdated! Kemp’s corner is one part of the world, the new and real centre is Prabhadevi/ worli in sobo or bkc in suburbs! Their bar prices (district lounge) would put harbour bar (taj) to Shame! All in all this hotel is a sham! AVOID AT ALL COSTS
The room we have booked was more luxurious then what we get on reaching their.their was nothing like 4 star hotel.its just an ordinary hotel. There was no bathtub in our washroom, which was shown earlier on the site. We have waste our money and I am not going to suggest anyone to visit these hotel
I had the worst experience of my life. I made the booking for two days and added another day due to delay in flight. I asked for food from the restaurant in the hotel but nobody bothered to call me back. So I had to step out for lunch after waiting for an hour. Again in the night I had to wait for my food for an hour even when the staff mentioned that the food be available within 20 minutes. Some staff persons are friendly and they will go at length to help you out but few may come out as a rude.
Interesting theme of design with good interior. Too small room and limited availability of food but you can use the food delivery site or app to enjoy the your food (Out side food is allowed) near the Marine drive. Parking spaces is available. Working lift.
Decent Hotel, one of the best in south mumbai. Rooms are beautiful and spacious. Hygenic atmosphere, silence, good outside view, good parking. Nice pantry. You can also order food from near by resrautrant like, Govindas, shiv sagar, soam, La pino, Starbucks. 15 min walk to giroan chowpatty, 800 metres from Jaslok hospital. (near by to jaslok hospital). Good service from hotel staff.
Location is best part. Close to south Mumbai beaches. Dining around is bit a issue, since the hotel has no restaurant. Room size is good, but showroom is bit small. Good facilities. Only thing didn't like is the room service staff, some were rude and lazy. Car parking is available for 3-4 cars only. Bit noisy in early morning.
Very nice hotel to stay in south Bombay. Mr. Tejas was thr at the reception.he was very nice n polite. Rooms were very nice & clean specially the washroom was very clean and hygienic. Car parking is available. All covid rules n regulations were followed. Booked it from agoda.com got the best deal.
I had a two week stay at hotel kemp’s corner.the staff here are brilliant the breakfast on the roof is a highlight.location is great aswell.i arrived at 3am and staff stayed there till I arrived.rooms are tiny but comfortable.will definitely return for my next trip.
Funny guy gautam (front desk guy) very helpful staff. Nice clean property and rooms. Great service and good food. Stayed there twice. Relaxing! Night duty security person is a good person (forgot his name) been there 20 years or so. Spoke a lot of good about mumbai. Excellent!
Very unassuming hotel, small but adequate (for me, traveling solo) rooms, decent bathroom, absolutely nothing special, but did the trick. Location is outstanding. Easy walk to Chowpatty Beach and Marine Drive. Some good restaurants nearby. Great value for the price. Service was above average, but not over the top. I would definitely stay here again if my goal was simply a comfortable, clean place in a great location for a good price. Not honeymoon-worthy.
The worst hotel ever! We stayed there before and it was never this bad. The new management and the service is horrible. The complimentary breakfast please go out to eat! The food is so bad! The AC in our room leaked and hit the cable box three times and caused a spark! We were afraid for our lives! All they did was clean it up and told us everything would be fine but it kept happening so we slept without AC and could not sleep! They did not even change our rooms! And so we asked to give a discount because of all the troubles and they didn’t even care and told us to leave! I don’t even want to give them a star if there was a way to give 0 stars I would! There is also construction going on outside wouldn’t even help us get taxis! And my mom can not walk! They have just lost our business and all the people we know will know about the mistreatment! They will not come too!
This is a clean and tidy hotel. Its in a great location.and they give you a great breakfast on the roof top while a man play's the flute and if you want you can get a foot and leg massage. The staff have been very helpful and chearfull. Also most taxis know where Kemp Korner Hotet is, now that's a big deal for me I had appointments at Dentzz, it's is only one minute walk from Kemps Korner Hotel this is another reason why I love this hotel Hats off to all the staff at Kemps Korner Hotel. Mumbai.
Exceptionally obtuse staff. There is a person at the reservations, named Rahul, who is in his own world. Had asked for an airport pick up ON PAYMENT and he confirmed and promised to send a confirmatory email. I gave my email and a standby. The next day when I did not receive an email I called, he said he was waiting for my email! Ridiculous and callous behaviour. Definitely reflects the standard of the hotel. When asked to talk to his supervisor/ manager - he said there was NO ONE else above him! God help that hotel!
A very cute boutique hotel in the middle of South Bombay. Super cute art deco accents make for delightful moments of discovery. The service is par excellence. The location is super convenient. What a find!
Absolutely delightful stay at the hotel, very warm and friendly staff from the front desk to the housekeeping everyone had a smile on their face always.ordered lunch at room service, I felt the quantity was less (or maybe me and my wife eat more) The sheera or suji halwa in morning breakfast is a taste to remember.had to request a change of bedsheet at 11pm because my child spilled milk and it was done in less than 10 minutes. Definitely a recommendation to anyone who wants to stay in this area. Please change the room lights if possible to a bright white instead of the current warm white
Stayed at the Shalimar in November for 2 weeks. The staff where ok except for Karan who was the shining light, always helpful and prepared to help where ever possible. The room (508) we had was absolutely disgraceful, water dripping down the wall from air con, very old and dated. The shower took 5 - 10 minutes for the hot water to arrive, definitely not the 4 star that they advertise or the room they show in the brochures. I would never stay here again.
I would like to take this opportunity to show our appreciation of the staff at Hotel Kemps Corner. From the first moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, it is as if we were returning home. The room although small was clean & tidy and well kept. The daily breakfast was well worth it and we couldn't ask for anything more. Once again the staff were very accommodating. Unfortunately, we can't remember all the staffs names but from us (Richard & Michelle) to you all thank you and a very Merry Christmas. To Eric (The Villain) & Tony (Brown Sugar Supplier) we will finish the movie. To Khan (Security) and the two great women at the front desk thank you for making our stay so pleasant. Once again to all the staff we thank you for making our stay memorable.
Hotel is great. All the staff were also good. Receptionist was so cocky. Didn't expect such service from the receptionist guy. Spoilt the entire experience.
It's a good Hotel. Rooms are nice and spacious. Breakfast spread is good and tastes good as well. Centrally located in an upmarket neighborhood. The thing missing is views - it's surrounded by residential buildings hence you don't get a good view.
Be aware that the call to worship Allah happens at 5am in the morning from across the road. If you're from the western world don't expect fresh pillows, a clean toilet or a decent tv. It's not quite as good as a Melbourne prison. At $50 a night it's about all you get in Mumbai
