We stayed in Hotel Lake Pichola and had dinner here. The ambience and the views are stunning. The service is good and the food is served pretty fast. The food is above average, but the quality and taste of the food does not meet the standards of other legendary restaurants in Udaipur.

In all, it's an Instagrammable place with just average good

Had high expectations but many things failed. The service was horrible. The waiters are just standing in the side and extremely inattentive. Our order even after repeating was missed by one main curry item. Chicken tikka was not cooked so had to return. Table next door had several issues too. Just come for a drink & go eat elsewhere

The views and food are great but getting to this place by car is unimaginably difficult. The roads are so small, if one car gets stuck.you’re not going to make your reservation. Also, that’s the second part… YOU NEED A RESERVATION.the place is packed and busy. Also they advertise many alcohols and food but they don’t actually have them in stock which was irritating.

Fabulous restaurant with fabulous views over Lake Pichola. Local musicians provide gentle entertainment and atmosphere. Cocktails were excellent too. Highly recommend

Pathetic staff, Mr nagender treated us very badly, they don't take reservation for people who aren't guest of the hotel. They will not give tables to outsiders. Not even attend to them. No respect for customers. Made us wait for three days, didn't take reservations. We were ready to accomodate in every way because we have heard well of the place. Pathetic experience

Ended up coming here for dinner twice in two days. The food and atmosphere was great with an amazing view of the lake. Our server Pratap was excellent. Great English and very attentive with our needs. Highly recommend eating here.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this restaurant.

Despite having made a call for reservation well in advance, we were refused a table upon arrival.

The level of inflexibility and unwillingness to accommodate our party was appalling. It was evident that the managers Praveen and Naginder had implemented rules that made no sense and were more interested in enforcing these arbitrary policies than in providing a positive dining experience.

Bcz of closing they didnt let us eat properly switched off the lights not even alloted the table we booked.

I had a generally positive experience at this establishment, as the ambiance, view, and food quality were all good. However, I feel compelled to give it a 2-star rating due to a concerning incident involving the waitstaff. Unfortunately, one of the waiters exhibited a lack of basic etiquette when handling a chilled beer to a foreign lady. In an inappropriate manner, he touched the chilled beer from the back and laughed mischievously, causing discomfort and distress to those present. It was disheartening to witness such behavior, especially considering that this place primarily caters to tourists.

I called Upre to reserve a table where the response was we don't take reservations and the tables will be given on a first come first serve basis. Despite calling twice and confirming the same when we reached the restaurant around 9 pm they told us "we don't take walk-ins after 8: 30 pm. You should have come before 6: 30 pm. " On top of that, the manager didn't even take any effort to look at the waitlist or the emptying tables. Don't know about the food but the service was extremely horrible. Mr. Nagendra needs to learn more about hospitality and management. Also, he needs to understand that there are more polite ways to deny or say no to the customer.

Overpriced, and hyped up needlessly. The views are just okay. The staff is polite, so one star for that. I paid an arm and a leg to have a very very average dinner here. Huge waste of money.

Very nice view from the rooftop restaurant. The food and service was also amazing. We ordered non-veg food (tandoori chicken, laal maas). The laal maas was very good. Worth trying if you are in udaipur

Everyone knows this place in Udaipur- Actually located in old City.
Best place to visit as an couple or with family for dinner outing.
Very cozy ambience to sit along lake side (Pichola Lake).
And even though i did not find the restaurant very expensive.
5 Star ratings just for the Ambience.

Very good food and service, although little bit expensive and previous reservations are needed.

A table was empty on the lake side, yet the manager refused to give it to us. Meanwhile all 6 table were emptied and yet refused. He admitted his mistake and gave us complimentary ice cream to treat us for spoiler dinner we had there

Visited this place today, Oct 31.though I didnt know about the advance reservation that needed to be done, we walked in and luckily was given a table in th center albiet not the much sought after lakeview seating. Those seemed to be booked. We were given a table with the rider that we have to finish food by 9pm.we got the table at 745pm.

Due to this time constraints we ordered the main course right away. Dhungar Murgh, Lal Maas and Govind Gatta Curry with missi roti. Food was yum. Service was good n normal.

This place is recommended for its good lake views, locale & good food.

I have added 1 more star to this review only for the view. This place has extremely average food. The service provided is slow and dull. I would not recommend this place for food, it's only for the View! The staff to an extent is arrogant too.

Marking 2 stars only coz of the view this place offers. The food sucked and would not recommend to visit this place when you are hungry. Must visit for look and feel of this place. Could visit to see sun set or post that.

Place is located by the lake and ambience is good with live Santoor and Tabla playing post 7.30 PM. It's recommended more for evening visit as it's hot during the day and the experience is better with the lighting on roof top post 6.30 PM. Hospitality of the staff is very good but the food taste is average. (Avoid the soups). Your cab will drop you about a kilometer away as the lanes are very narrow to reach here. So either you can walk or take an auto rickshaw for pick and drop. (Auto guys charge standard 100rs one way)

Best view of the lake, live instrumental music and their delicious food makes your Udaipur experience all the more beautiful. But get your reservations in advance as the place is always loaded.

Upre is a rooftop restaurant and hotel located at Pichola lake you can enjoy beautiful views of Udaipur city palace and the pichola lake.

The whole environment is romantic and they offer candlelight dinner. Prior reservations are required as most of the time all lakeside seats are booked or reserved for guests.

For dining, you must reach before 9 pm after that possibility of getting a seat is very rare.

Food is served cold, people are arrogant, not taking orders properly.

I ordered chicken tikka which came in cold, the waiter removed the dish from our table and refused to fulfil it again because he said the main course is almost served so we won’t be able to eat it in time, these guys are so concerned of us going back in time that they don’t want us to even eat properly.

It doesn’t end here, they messed up our order in breads and refused fulfil that again.

Such a pathetic service I have never seen in any restaurant. Please don’t waste your time here, go some where else. There are plenty of roof top restaurants by the lake.

How do I go about sharing my experience. Just took our chance, visited UPRE without any prior reservations and voila there comes Yudhisthira to our rescue.we not only managed to get a table but the best view too. What a mesmerising view, superb roof top bar and an even superb owner. He surely made our last night in Udaipur a super special one. Everyone reading this, UPRE is a must when in Udaipur

Ambiance is really good but should not charge so much just for ambiance. We can get the same food quality anywhere in Udaipur.

The bar and restaurant has pretty rude staff. We were told it booked and when we said ok before leaving. The staff says let us check. The USP is you've got a bar with a view. Just like dozen other locations out there. So if you have customer friendly staff it will help specially in the Hospitality industry. Anyone wanting to still go there, be advised to make a booking before going there.

Upre is one of the well known restaurants located on the rooftop of Hotel Pichola. Before I tell you about the service, food and ambience, it is important to know that Upre has two sittings for dinner. The first one begins at 7pm and the second at 9pm. We reserved a table for the 7pm slot. However due to unforeseen circumstances, we were half an hour late. I kid you not, starting 7pm, the manager called me every 5 minutes to check how much longer we will take to arrive. By the end of it, my friends and I were physically running to the restaurant, lest they should give away our table to someone else.

Once we arrived however, the glittering panoramic views immediately calmed our nerves and put us at ease. We called for laal maas with naan, paneer and some cocktails. The service was extremely quick and the food and drinks were enjoyable.

Although my experience was a little bit soured but the sheer number of calls I received from the manager due to me and my friends running late, over all I had a good experience and I would recommend the restaurant to others visiting Udaipur as well. I myself would like to visit again but this time with special attention to arriving timely.: P

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ROOFTOP CAFE'S I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. I mean the vibe itself is so catchy and lovely. The view, the food the experience was out of the world. It's a MUST VISIT if you're in Udaipur or plan to visit Udaipur. Loved it completely

Had worst experience yesterday, Horrendous cocktails with horrendous staff, The staff is very rude + the food not worth the price they are charging, the barman's typical bottlehead doesn't even know how to make cocktails (even my 6 yo niece would make better cocktails), Dont ever visit here

One can spend a good time here with family or friends. Situated on the banks of Lake, and dining area over looking the scenics. Advised to go early if possible in the evening just before sunset.

Pathetic behaviour. Reception doesnt guide you and there is no one at the restaurant to take bookings. We were made to wait for half an hour and told bookings have to be done 2 days prior. In the middle of the week in a pandemic situation, that attitude surely won't warrant them good business.

Went there tonight based on my friends' recommendations. The place has a lovely view, and the staff is courteous. Upre closes down by 10: 30 pm and accepts orders until 10: 15 pm. We were there until closing time and enjoyed the view to the fullest. Prior reservations are highly recommended, otherwise you'll get a table with a not so nice view. The food is quite pricey, but it is worth a visit while you're in Udaipur. Also - roads are in terrible condition, don't be scared if the auto wallah takes you from small gullies, he's not trying to con you, that's indeed the route to the restaurant.

For those who don't know the meaning of the word Upre, it means Upstairs. This restaurant features in perhaps all the lists of must visit restaurants in Udaipur the city of lakes. Upre is a rooftop restaurant located on Level 3 of Lake Pichola Hotel which is on the shore of Lake Pichola. You get some breathtaking views of the City Palace complex and the numerous ghats. Since it is located in the old part of town, reaching the hotel could be a task. Your car can drop you to Brampole Dargah and you can catch an autorickshaw to Lake Pichola Hotel. Unfortunately a lot of roads are closed due to smart City construction. The management of Upre and 1559 AD is the same, however in these times it would definitely be easier to reach 1559 AD via car.

Upre for sure provides one of the most amazing ambience if not the most amazing ambience in Udaipur. Light music in the background, small lamps on every table, simply outstanding. Talking about what we had at Upre - Birbali Khichdi, Spring Rolls, Bruschetta and Stuffed Paratha. Stuffed Paratha, personally the top pick amongst all other food followed by Spring Rolls. Finally we ended our meal with Gulkand Rabdi. Sweet Endings indeed!

Bogus welcome. It was my b'day and my friends gave me a surprise party. But inspite of warm welcome at the enterance, we were told that we will be charged 300/- just to cut the cake in their premises. I mean WTH.isn't it pathetic, some1 charging you only for cutting the cake. Not for purchasing it. Disgusting.

When you call they say all tables are booked. The lady managing the seating will refuse seat unless you have advance booking. Surprisingly they don't have capacity to accommodate anyone without booking even you are ready to wait. Pathetic hospitality.

By far the best restaurant I visited in Udaipur and one of the best during my two week visit in India. The rooftop view of the lake is fantastic. Service was world-class and the food was excellent. I tried the lamb and a guava drink.

I would recommend reserving a spot 1-2 days in advance if you want a rooftop seat. If you’re lucky you might be seated in those bed-style tables next to lake. Enjoy!

They made pizza with the base that we buy usually buy from the market. Also we ordered noodles it was stinking as if it was stale. On top of this the service was slower then the turtle

The food was average, and the service was poor. The Manager (gentleman incharge of the seating) seemed rascist (ironic), rude and incompetant. Donot recommend Upre for anything, other than its ambience and the view it offers. Please note, the restaurant was only half-occupied when we visited.

Good for people, who drink alcohol and smoke hukkah, there is a facility of listening to live misic performances upsrairs.

Had a dinner with family here. This place is beautiful and calm with magnificent view of Lake Pichola, gangaur ghat and Bagore ki Haveli. One has to do the reservation prior (do ask for lake view table). If you here during winter and for dinner, then do carry warm clothes along with you. We had mocktails, fish tikka, Dhungar Murg, butter chicken, roti and gajar ka halwa. The food was average. There was live instruments being played which was very soothing. The service is little bad. The staff serving us was polite and friendly. It took him ages to serve and get us our bill (little exaggeration here). He took 15 mins to get us the gajar ka halwa after multiple reminders. He produced us the incorrect bill (do check the bill before payment), which when asked to correct took him more than 20 minutes. I enjoyed the lake meanwhile all this was happening, so I don’t mind but my parents left for the room as it was getting more chilled. The food and service is average but the view and ambience is worth visiting this place.

Read similar reviews regarding Upre and Ambrai while planning for my Udaipur trip. Visited both of the places.
Ambrai is better in terms of food quality, views from dining table and location.
Upre is better in terms of cost and hospitality by staff.

Tip: Visit these restaurents in afternoon to have better views and lesser rush. Prebook if you are visiting for dinner.

Good Place with amazing lakeview and city palace on opposite side of lake. Food is not great but good. Service is fantastic. It the idle place for Date night. Must visit place in Udaipur. Also, its a rooftop and very quite.

Just because the place gives lake view, the staff doesn't care about their customers. Whenever you give them a call for booking, their response will be that all tables are occupied. They always reserve seats for foreign tourists & neglect local bookings which is a big disappointing factor.
Secondly, the staff is too rude while taking bookings.
I would suggest you can check for other multiple options which are far better along with humble staff.

Superb location for a lovely evening with family and close friends.
