Pemayangtse Monastery

Pemayangtse Monastery is a historic and one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries. The monastery complex includes several prayer halls and structures, with the main prayer hall containing a notable seven-tiered wooden model of the celestial abode of Guru Rinpoche.

Found this Monastry as a High tradition worship place. The statues, pictures& paintings are superb. The colourful paintings are breathtaking. They say this is one of the oldest Monastry.a Rath like arrangement on the 1St floor, they say it represents Heaven.

Very beautiful n quite n lovely weather specially early morning good get chance to see monk doing prayers n chanting the view totally awesome the track was tough for walk but after reaching all tiredness vanished!

Truly peaceful at beautiful location, the structure on top floor is awesome, very detailed. Could have photographed it but valued it's rules.

Very peaceful place. This monastery is located near Pelling which is about 2 km. You can cover this attraction by walking. The ruins of Rabdantse can also be witnessed from here.

So Peaceful! And alive at the same time. I could have spent the entire day here. Photography is not allowed inside the monastery which also houses a museum of artifacts on one of the floors.

We stayed there for around 30 minutes. Liked the serenity of the place.

Car Parking and two wheelar parking facility available there. They charge Rs. 30 as a fee for entrance. Well maintained neat amd clean place by Managing commitee. This place is around 4 km from geyzing market and 2 km from pelling. One can approach this place by taking texi service from silliguri to geyzing or silliguri to pelling. Once visit west sikkim dont miss this place to visit.

Pemayangtse Monastery is hosed in a building that has three floors and is situated on a small hill. We initially just looked around the first floor of the monastery thinking the other two floors are probably residential areas for the monks. However, we were told by one of the senior monks that the two floors above had interesting information, paintings art works regarding Buddhist spiritual thinking. Many ancient painting and "Thankas" and other art are very interesting and intriguing. Many paints of the lotus born Buddha and his stories are displayed here. Highly recommend a visit here and do not miss the going right up to the top floor to see a surprise.

Really its a tonic for refreshment and to remove monotony and dullness. Place of peace. It's a marvelous experience to visit in the time of prayer, about 4PM. Decoration, wall painting everything is eye soothing and soulful. Want to visit again at prayer time.

A beautiful monastery with strict discipline and well maintained compound. Silent zone. Monks were helpful and interacted with one who explained the story behind the building of the monastery and many other aspects.

If you have not seen old monestary then you should visit this place. It is very old monestary with some history attached to it. There is a entry fee to visit this monestary and photography inside monestary is not allowed.

Pemayangtse Monastery is a big Monastery with a museum located at Pelling, West Sikkim. Inside of it there is a statue of Lord Padmasambhaba, reincarnation of Lord Buddha.

I love monastry so a good experience to see how Buddhism is being practiced out there. Young monks are in making a different and peaceful place.
