Sterling Gangtok - Orange Village

Food and services are good and rooms are comfortable thanks to Parmod giving great hospitality and services

Pais 7k for a premium cottage. Felt cheated as food was pathetic and the staff was to casual like a govt run facility. It's an old property and requires big time renovation efforts but the owners seem to pushing it further and fooling customers. I had planned a 2 day stay alongwith a relaxing spa but left the hotel after my first night experience. This spoiled my holiday and would never ever stay in a 'Sterling Holidays' property.

Have stayed in many properties of sterling but this one was a high disappointment. Firstly, they gave us rooms in a newly built building which didn’t had lifts and as soon as we entered the rooms, in few hours it was filled with bugs and insects all over the room. The room service is very slow and the way to the reception is like a 100 miles. Secondly the restaurant. The food was pathetic and so slow it came after an hour. The food put up in the buffet had flies roaming around on that which is pathetic and so unhygienic. We had to leave early the next day so they agreed to give packed breakfast. They gave cheese sandwich, an apple, a banana, a perk per person which is so unprofessional. They gave a can of real fruit juice to share among 14 people which is so dumb. Please work on your services and hospitality.

They have a great view from the rooms, no doubt about that. The staff was very polite and cordial. Only thing that can be improved on is the manageyof Breakfast Buffet, they are either understaffed in that department or don't manage that part well. Food taste is okay, not great. Items get over during breakfast and you need to wait a long time for the items to come and be refilled. This needs to be managed better. Specially, when you have a tour planned where you need to leave after BF, this becomes frustrating. Room service menu is limited and is served only till 10: 30 PM. Rest it's good.

I would not suggest to stay here. According to the prize of hotel it's really not worth to stay here. No cleanliness at all and breakfast is also terrible and they are not providing good service during breakfast. Don't stay in room no. 605 as the bathtub is leaking and water drains in bathroom.

Hotel is good but at last we Indians need food satisfaction which is not full filed by any Sterling rather it belongs to DARJLING OR GANGTOK OR MUSSORIE (UK) OR MOUNT ABU (Rajasthan) etc where ever I have visited there is always a big problem of cleanness and food quality. The big issue of this STERLING BRAND is the higher authority is not taking care of customers satisfaction and not even inspection were done regarding of what quality food and services given to customers

What can I say? The food;the ambience;the politeness of the staffs ;everything made us feel like home specially the warmthness and prompt service given by Mr. Abhijit Chatterjee made our holiday a remembered one.

I visited this place with a group of 25+ people For 3 nights and have a great experience at Sterling Gangtok Hotel. Extremely ridiculous service! Drainage stinking in every room.all stale food, super pathetic and rude staff, room service most underrated can’t give a single half star for this hotel, never agree with any of tourist suggestion for this hotel! Extremely bad experience all cheaters here!

Very nice hotel to stay in gangtok. Nice food, nice seen sight from room, good and supportive staff, maintaining cleaness at room as well as surrounding. Overall nice experience strongly recommend to stay.

Don’t book this hotel. 1. Lacks hygiene, lacks responsiveness from staff and management. 2. Patio door wasn’t working. I mentioned It to them. No response. Result was mosquitoes and bugs in room. Offered me three all out mosquito repellents when I complained for mosquitos in room (three in a room is deeply hazardous by the way) confused staff. Keep asking questions rather than solving the issue. 3. Booked for Jain food in advance. The resto lady said that we haven’t been informed and will take long time for your food. They don’t like guests probably because sterling has fixed trapped clientele so they don’t care for reviews either. Don’t visit this hotel and save your hard earned money. Period. Pathetic experience after check-in the hotel.we had booked 2 rooms 25 days ago for which they had charged us the same but on getting the rooms our 1st room was spacious and 2nd was compact
The 1st room has all the eminites while 2nd room doesn't have any. On this we went to the reception desk to talk so the reason that we got was we have only 1 room in the entire hotel in our package.
If they dint have the same room why they had taken bookings why were we not informed about it while booking.
Should we trust this hotel or not?

Rooms are good. Food and restaurant is also equally good. They served us a grand local thalli which was a good experience too. The rooms, hall and corridors are well maintained with good photo frames, etc. Bathroom was clean and fully equipped.

There is however no walking or strolling space or open play area within the property. So the name "village" is very misleading. It is just next to the main road but slightly away from the city hustle bustle. The view from the room balcony is great.

We have stayed here for 3 Nights & 4 days along with my family.
Right starting from booking (direct booking) to checkout everything was beyond nice.
Loved the staffs.very helpful in getting food or giving medicines or additional things on request. Mr. Krishna is very nice man and he helped us a lot in sorting the things out there in many aspects (like local commute and going to different places)

Like the Room Cleanness too.

Travel Desk ppl are good too. Mr Sai helped us in booking the taxi to North Sikkim in the very last moment.

We stopped at Sterling Gangtok while on our way out of the city and on the way to Kalimpong for some lunch. The parking space was ample and the restaurant on the top floor offers a fine view of the mountainside as you munch your meal!

However we found the appearance of the restaurant a bit on the shabbier side. Service though was excellent with the staff very polite and attentive to the fact that we were travelling with our infant son. Food too was sumptuous.

Just got one key feedback - the staff needs to ensure that the washrooms are clean at all times. It so happened that on that very day, a company was probably having some kind of a meet at the hotel, and it's employees were all over the place. Not to sound condescending but usually in such a setting you come across people who have come to such a property for the first time in their lives and do not follow the best of practices when it comes to civic sense and cleanliness. As a result the washroom was a mess, and we just barely managed to clean and leave post our meal, making do with whatever was available.

To conclude, with a bit more monitoring it could be a great property especially given its location.

Very pathetic experience at Sterling Orange village. When we reached in afternoon we were allocated a room that was dirty and unprepared. I and my wife were very tired after 9 hours of travelling. So we asked the lady on reception counter to change the room. She says she will ask the housekeeping guy to clean the room. Then they came and cleaned for an hour. Wasted our afternoon. Restaurant services were also slow and poor. Extremely understaffed property. Also renovation going on.

Good Place to stay and I recommend to visit and give try to feel better. Best place for Family's also.

First and foremost, the front desk team needs to much polite and warm to guest and guest should feel welcome at the hotel. Second, rooms need to be improvised and especially bathrooms should be clean. It was disgusting seeing the bathroom condition at the hotel.

This place is just awesome. Balcony view is breathtaking. Food and service is beyond expectations.

The rooms were big but the upholstery and furniture was old. The bathrooms were bad and faucets were leaking. They weren't clean. We stayed 3 nights in the first week of October 2021 but we were not that satisfied by the rooms. The staff was courteous and trying to make our stay comfortable.

Very Bad experience. 1st of all not worth the money. You will get far better deal in Gangtok Mall area. Rooms were small compared to price. Water was leaking from bathroom into the bedroom area. When we called reception to shift room the man said room cannot be changed. Later when we insisted they allowed room change. If you are staying for good views thn don't stay bcoz we got far better views from other Hotel in mall area that we shifted to. And if you are interested bcoz it's away from hustle of town thn plz avoid bcoz room faces the road directly and its not sound proof. Whole night we got to hear vehicles sound. I gave 2 star only because the lady receptionist behavior was v good.

Hotel Sterling was our last stop in our Gangtok Darjeeling trip and couldn't have been more satisfying. Although it is some 8 kms away from the main Gangtok market but one of the few properties offering luxurious stay. Their cottages were well equipped and services was nice. The receptionist Mr. Krisha and Mr. Niraj was very helpful in solving any problem that we may have.

Sterling Gangtok Orange Village is situated on the hilly areas of Gangtok which make it amazing to stay with a very nice view and spacious rooms. Initially staff was very nice with all the arrangements and I faced no issues while booking and check in. Food quality is also very good. It was my parents 37th Wedding anniversary for which they arranged a good surprise. We get help from Kishore in setting up Bone fire as well. All I faced is that F&B department is very weak due to less staff & I faced this issue not only in Gangtok even in Darjeeling as well. Room service, Ala Carte or anything like that takes too much time to transact. So, this is something where Sterling should start working on. Being a good hotel does not means you stop improving yourself. Please invest on good improvement projects and I think you should really consider this as a critical feedback to be in the race of best.

It was extremely disappointing stay, very very bad service, unaccomodative staff, no availability of manager or staff for any issue, no room services

The hotel is a pure bliss. The rooms are large and have big balconies, from which you can experience a river side view.
Food is obviously costly and not much options in veg. In starters veg spring roll is good and the momos are bad.
Rest the house keeping and hotel experience is good.

Calm, Serene place at Gangtok to unwind. The hospitality of food and beverage service is very good. As located at a bit distance from MG Marg etc, getting cab etc a bit difficult during evening. Overall, nice experience.

Very Good resort but if you're booking it by online apps please ensure that you'll get rooms according to your choice and location.

WORST STAY EVER!

Never ever book this hotel for your special day’s. Rooms were pathetic, cleaning wasn’t done. No one in the front office was courteous from the moment we checked in till the checked out no body was bothered about anything. We complained from the check in time that room is not cleaned all over dust was there in the room, there was lipstick marks on the pillow cover.
No single towel was placed in the room and the blinds was not working properly. Tea kettle was broken. I never stayed in such a pathetic hotel where General Manager Mr. Kishore did not stayed on his own words, every-time he was saying he will do something special for us but nothing was done at all and then we asked for room change then we have been informed that we booked for base category so we don’t deserve to have a room change after speaking with General Manager i was cleared with one thing that they don’t clean base category rooms and those who are booked for base category they don’t deserve to have a good room this is what they made us feel. Being in hotel industry from past 9 years, i also know the value of a GM but he was not able to understand the situation, he was so unprofessional, not courteous towards his guests and Asha at reception is also so stubborn that she was not getting that we both are not comfortable in that room.

I had booked this property 2 months prior to my date of visit. Upon arriving and inspite of my booking confirmation I came to know I would not get any room as hotel is fully booked and after several talk with the GM of the property I had no other option but to choose their other property in Gangtok - Sterling Gangtok and their too the management gave me very small and non viewing room. This is my honeymoon trip and I faced lot of difficulty throughout. The false commitment from Sterling Management is very disappointing and under greed for certain amount of extra money, the management is opting for unethical practices. I wouldn't recommend Sterling chain of hotels to first time travellers or people who are on their honeymoon.

Not upto the mark of Sterlings resort. It is just a normal hotel. Food was okay. Needs improvement in customer service.

Awesome resort with very nice rooms and views. Bit far away from city but that's ok. Only thing that they can improve is food quality. During our stay, pulav, biriyani all tastes the same. I will return again.

Location of hotel is good as far as the scenic view is concerned. This hotel is 10kms away from the city but very peaceful atmosphere. Best part about the resort is campus of the resort where one can wander anywhere. Beautiful cottages and pathways from top to bottom is too good. We had tried the breakfast only and it was just ok. Service was good. The room in which we stayed was not properly cleaned so that part can be improved. Otherwise room amenities are too good. Has the window sofa facing the valley and balcony too. Overall stay was good

One of best hotel in Gangtok but very far from the city. Almost 10km from the mg road market. It's a 4star property

Though a Sterling property their attitude towards Members is very indifferent. Food quality and quantity specially South Indian food is below the standard. You have to spend 300Rs.everyday to visit M. G. Marg. Bedsheets are not at all clean.

Yes! I loved this place! Mr.yadav very efficiently guided me about pros and cons of the place I never visited before and warmheartedly welcomed all of us with his wonderful team. Ms Asha and her colleagues were very cordial and polite.
The food is good, service little slow, but Hats off to Mr. Pramod Mr. Bijay Pokhrel and Mr. Srimanta Ghosh! Wonderful trio! Excellent service!

We stayed in the month of september and the stay was very comfortable and satisfied. The food was very delicious and the room services were praiseworthy.

Totally disagree. No food quality, sometimes same menu for morning and evening, exegarated costs of beverages, non availability of required things. I can not extend even a single star.

Nice property but a lil away from main city of Gangtok. Needs better upkeep of maintenance and linen quality. Restaurant experience wasn't great due to service of un trained staff. Though food is good but steep.

Nice property. Nice view. Beautiful rooms. All adjectives ends here. Room service/ House keeping needs improvements. A little more maintenance is required. Far from city hub (M G Road).

This is the third Sterling property that I have started in. I have trusted the brand in terms of value for money. However this time I was disappointed. I stayed in the Premier room with valley view. The issue was maintenance. The room want cleaned properly. There were dead insects. The bathroom fittings were rusted. The restaurant floor was dirty with flies fluttering around. They sent the wrong food ordered. But the staff was very courteous and helpful. They charged 7000 per night including taxes. Totally not value for money. I will not recommend it. I would recommend Lemon tree for the same price.

Hotel was good and beautiful at a good location in Gangtok but with a Pathetic room condition. I booked a room at above 10K per night and what I got was a stinking room with torned bed cover, ripped lamp shade and a broken toilet seat. Absolutely shocking for a room at such massive price of more than 10K per night. We had to ask for room freshener as soon as we moved to the room. If we ignore the above goof ups then rest was good in the hotel.

We stayed for 3 nights in cottage room and was awesome with valley view from balcony. Resort is well situated on highway and 500 m away from Mayfare hotel. Food is quite expensive but complementary breakfast is very delicious and with all varieties.

Love their hospitality! The property is not huge but clean and well maintained. Rooms are pretty big the double deck concept with a small balcony having wonderful view. Overall a great experience
