You need to drive about 4 kms from the town to reach the retreat.

As it says Retreat so it is away from the main market area into jungle. The food are limited out here. Place is more suitable for couples or people who want to relax.

Had visited Ravangla during mid-June with the wish to experience a magnificent monsoon in the mountains. Barfung Retreat gave us the ideal setting for the lazy and quiet vacation we were looking for, right in the lap of mother nature. The view of forests, mountains and endless rains from the super-spacious balcony of the suite-room was truly refreshing. Herds of rain-soaked-clouds would often pass almost through us while we enjoyed warm cups of tea in the balcony!
The stay, the food, the cheerful young group of hotel staff and the tail wagging furry friends, all made our holiday so so special.
The only thing that can be improved are the lights in the room. They can be planned in a better way, for the evenings to not feel so dull inside the room.
Plan a stay in this beautiful property if you want to detox from urban life.

Beautiful, quiet location. I absolutely loved this place. We stayed there for 3 nights and really liked the peaceful, and pristine location with plenty of beautiful sights. We also got see Mt. Kanchenjunga early in the morning.

A quaint resort in lush surroundings- we got a glimpse of the mountain range in the early morning. Overall very friendly and helpful staff - Sonam and Bibek helped us settle in, had some amazing freshly cooked food, and a very peaceful stay. Would recommend for a great tech-free getaway.

The Barfung retreat is a beautiful and tranquil getaway located in the Ravangla in the gorgeous state of Sikkim. This is a perfect place to escape from the chaos of city life and immerse yourself in nature.
Ideal place for those who seek peaceful and rejuvenating experience. Early morning fresh air and birds chirping feels so good that we lost ourselves in this beautiful place.
The rooms and exterior in Barfung are designed perfectly that it feels like we live in typical mountain houses with modern facilities. The food was great. This is highly recommended place who needs peace, love the nature.
The hospitality at Barfung so great. I have been travelling for some time, I have never seen the kind of hospitality provided at Barfung anywhere else. The staff are so humble and hard working. Kudos to all of you. I would highly recommend the owner or who ever maintaining this property to do something for the staff in here. They deserve a lot.

Nice, clean rooms amidst wilderness with good staff. Just note that it’s bit far from activity centre of Ravangla. So add 700 - to and fro per trip you like to make to market or Buddha Park. Self driving people would also face difficulties after dark as about one Kilometre after NIT its less maintained village road without any signage or landmarks.

The place is away from the hustle and bustle. The view from the rooms are breathtaking. Early in the morning we got to see few peaks of Kanchenjunga wide and clear. The hospitality is no doubt superb. Staffs behavior food is also that se loved a lot. I have a plan of visiting the place again this time i plan to stay little more longer.

Well maintained room, also the staff was very helpful, It's better place to spend time in hotel with kanchenjunga view, Food was very delicious. Quiet far from Ravangla centre but better for those who want to spend time in hotel with View.

retreat, Ravangala. Brought in the new year! What a wonderful experience we had. A bonfire, music, fun fellow guests. Dinesh Thapa, Yuvraj, the cook deserve a special mention. The manager, Dinesh went out of his way to make us comfortable. I would recommend this place hands down, for the ambience, the secluded surroundings, the views of the mountains and the Buddha. Tucked away in a remote corner of sikkim, this place is an excellent weekend getaway. The staff is very cooperative and enthusiastic. The food choices are excellent and the restaurant is very nice as well. Highly.reommend this place for a quiet time with family. Although, there are no recreational activities on the property, there are plenty of nice trails for short nature treks.

Stayed here recently for one day with my family.
Pros:
1. Food is good with limited variety.
2. Rooms along with wahroom are spacious.
3. Full of greenery.
4. Staffs are polite.
5. In the early view of the mountains is awesome.

Cons:
1. Due to much greenery, thee is too much insects, leeches also, one can't open door and windows of room, may face suffocation.
2. No fan and exhaust in room.
3.6 kms away from Ravangla amin town and road to hotel is also not good.

It's really on professional first of all The Lady Prena who was look for the reservations who stayed at Gangtok she us not answering her call even not read the whatsapp MSG also.very difficult to Communicate, The Hotel staff doesn't know anything and talk roundly.
I was keep calling but no one ans the call but finally the phone transfer atomically to one gentleman he us the one who solve our problem.

It was a very pleasant stay amidst the nature of Ravangla with full of greenery and peace.

This is resort is not for people looking to travel from a city to a city. The location is offbeat absolutely amidst nature. The staff are extremely warm and courteous. I don't have much to complain about. However the food could be better. It is rather average compared to their rooms, service and ambience. Reserving 1 star against food only.

This is a very nice resort in a pretty secluded place. The scenery around the resort is pretty serene. The rooms are huge, clean, and each had a pretty awesome view of the jungle. The staff are very friendly. The manager was very helpful and he did provide us useful info about our journey ahead. We tried the sikkimese thali from the restaurant, and it was a delicious one. The quantity was more than enough for 2 people. Overall a very pleasant stay. Would definetely visit again.

View is awesome! Far from bustle of a city. Just feel the atmosphere. Feel the view. You can play cricket/badminton. You can have Bonfire with berbeque chicken.

Most of the items on the menu was unavailable and dirty cutlery.

Short on staff (it was the 1st but then they should not take bookings)

The approach to the place is very rough.

However the view from the place is spectacular.

Overall, too overpriced for the facility and amenities inside.

Pros: Only the good thing that we felt was that the rooms were big and cozy.

Cons: Service was pathetic. Delay in responding to orders/requests. Blood stains in bed sheets. Food quality was very poor.

We have spent two days in Barfung Retreat and our stay was awesome. We have seen Mt. Narsing, Mt. Kabru from this resort very clearly. From the room itself we have seen the snow capped mountain. The resort location is 10-15 minutes away from the main market area of Rabangla. The service, food, hospitality all are very good. Specially the behavior of the manager of this resort is very polite.

Place is very remote, location is good, but service is very poor, 500 rupees got stolen from us along with cosmetics got stolen. I suggest dont go this place. In the night we were very scared no other tourist was present.

The BEST place to stay in Ravangla if you want a relaxing, soothing yet offbeat and surreal experience. The resort is located within a forest and is far away from the chaos of the main town. The rooms are excellent and extremely well maintained. The decors and ambiance are just PERFECT! Sometimes we were wondering how can a resort be so perfect! They have the facility for Bonfire and Grilling as well which one can avail at extra cost. Food and service is top notch. However, please be patient and go with the flow. All the staffs were extremely helpful and polite.

We stayed there for 2 days and it will be one of those experiences which one cherishes throughout life and never forgets.

Special mention for Dinesh Ji! HE is the MAN, and we will always be greatful to HIM for gifting us some of the most wonderful moments of our life. Lots of love for Minesh (Dinesh Ji's elder son) and Coco (the supper fluffy, cute and smart doggo).

4. My kids were not allowed at bonfire as they have only one place and it is prebooked at a price of INR 1000 for next few days
5. Room heater is chargeable even when there are gap in windows from which cold air enters the room

If you looking for vacation with nature, than the barfung retreat is the best location. Although it's bit interior and roads are not so good, but best place to have vacation. I booked suite with mountain view. Really awesome stay. Staffs are very humble and loving. Food was delicious.

The burfung Retreat is an excellent place to stay. One can have decorated rooms with comfortable amenities, spacious rooms with excellent cleanliness, standard food with beautiful beahaviour of staffs. We met and got services from these people and we are thankful to you guys for your friendly nature and serving us always with a smile.

This place is an awesome stay for people who wants peaceful staying for a weekend and also the location is 5kms away from the main Ravangla more. But yes this place will give you a happy stay after a long journey. The Doling Monastery is 10mins from this place and it will be an additional visiting place for you.

Suggestions- the price of the coffee and tea should be revised along with some of the food menus.

Hotel is good. Location is serene and offbeat. Last 6 kms to road is horrible.food quality and quantity is below average in comparison to price. The service employees are very good at saying indirect "no" to many things. I would not suggest this hotel to anyone. You can stay near to budha park. You can get lot of options there at better rates where u can get the view of the magnificent park. The Ravangla city itself is very serene and calm.

Room is beautiful surrounded by lots of greenary and scenic beauty but they charge for food like anything as u don't have any other option to eat outside food, and their food was not at all worthy. They don't put menu in rooms so do ask about the price of dishes u order. Overall room was nice

I booked this place to have a relaxed weekend with my friend but the stay turned out to be horrible. We had booked a room with breakfast included, later we got to know that we'll have to leave at 5: 00Am to reach our next destination on time. After arriving at the retreat, we asked the person incharge if they could provide us with some food like bread, jam or boiled eggs the night before so that we can have it in morning. They outright said that nothing is available and they can't give us any food. Moving on to the rooms, the linens were full of fungus and there were dead insects all over the place. The dinner was disgusting. I ordered thukpa, it was extremely oily and tasteless. We had to sleep empty stomach. The manager had no reaction to any of these things. He happily sent us the bill even after knowing we were not satisfied with the food or the stay.

Only the property was good, the management and service is very bad. You will have limited items to eat. U can't open windows at night as it will flood it with insects. They charge like big hotels like Clarks and Radisson, but can't provide with basic amenities. The garden was not maintained and it was full of leeches. Very bad experience with the management. They don't have proper staff.

The hotel premise is 6 kms away from the main town and the road leading to it is full of pot holes, given that the premise is well maintained but the rooms are a nightmare to live in. Linens stinked of fungus and rooms weren't cleaned, there were spider webs everywhere. They do serve dinner however the food was barely edible, so oily that it was difficult to distinguish soup from oil. Me and my friend looked forward to staying here, but I would never ever recommend anyone this place.

Oh, it was a very nice place. Stayed there with my wife on 10th and 11th August, 2021. Place is serene, a bit off the much traveled road, and that's where the charm is. Peaceful, quiet. Most suitable for persons who want to relax, unwind and soak themselves in nature for a couple of days. Would always recommend this place to those who want to visit Ravangla, because you generally won't get best of properties there. Buddha Park is very near to this place and you can see the Buddha statue from here, which, at night is beautiful to watch. Staffs are very cordial. Host cum coordinator Ms. Prerna is truly helpful. Food is good. The suite is the best, if you can avail it. I would like to visit once again during winter.

The rooms were good, but getting food was a Major problem incase you plan to go please confirm with the management about the arrangement for your meals or you'll have to live on wai wai

We stayed 2 nights with our children. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms ok. Generous portions and food alright. Nice bonfire even though rather expensive.

Unfortunately we had some remarks on the cleanliness and the service. I think it makes a difference when the owner lives on the property and when it is run from a distance. More of a hotel feeling than a Homestay.

Me and my husband booked this place for a couple of days in Ravangla. We traveled to Gangtok-Yumtang-Mangan and then Ravangla. This hotel was the worst place to live. In winters, they do not provide basics like electric blankets or room heaters. Their manager Dinesh doesn’t pay attention to basics but is more interested in what we were doing at the property. He doesn’t know small things like whats on the breakfast menu and is extremely rude. He did not make us comfortable at all. Working staff is good and helpful. Our experience in the remotest places like Yumtang and Munlom Resort in Mangan was beautiful because people there made us comfortable. BARFUNG RETREAT PLEASE learn some hospitality

The premises are surrounded by trees and vegetation. A perfect location for me. Mr. Dinesh, the manager at the property, is very friendly and hospitable. He made sure all our needs were catered to across the five days of our stay. He made our stay special. Don't forget to pet the amazing doggos at the property!

Very limited and the almost what you require, curated list of food items
The rooms very extremely spacious only thing missing was a larger room heater considering the chill weather, summer months wont require that. The approach is very bad but that is an issue with the govt not the hosts fault, the bonfire was complimentary and very nice. The food was entirely organic foods from the local villages which I think is very good in terms of giving back the community.

Fully decorated hospitality with good food & service at reasonable price. The place is offbeat location, Adventure lovers must be like.

The rooms look good but the space is less. The view is good from certain rooms, not all. The ambience is okay. Service is really bad, you either won't receive it and if you do, it'll be late. The staffs don't bother to respond to questions asked. The food tastes below average, also, it's less cooked. The telephone lines don't work, if you want to report or ask anything to the reception, you have to go up there climbing 50 stairs.

We reached Burfang Retreat on the new new year's Eve. Was quite amazed to see their hospitality and arrangements. The food was most impressive because no where in that altitude we could get such quality. The next day we enjoyed even better because of the magnificent balcony view of mountains. Resort's manager is one of the finest gentlemen we have came across, rest of the staffs are very polite as well. I sincerely thank Burfang Retreat team for making our holiday the one to cherish forever.

Horrible. Strongly recommend not to visit this place. Horrible room service. Manager named Dinesh behaves horribly. If you try to confront him regarding the rooms he will say that you are getting exactly what you've paid for. No maintenance is being done here. The glasses were broken. Flush didn't work. If you ask for water they come and give you one bottle of water. Horrible food. Those who are serving they are only cooking. I have clicked pictures of the broken windows as well. So don't go over there to pay for small rooms with broken windows and non functional flushes and focets. Also in such a place that is so cold. They will say initially that heater falls under basic amenities but later they will charge you for room heaters per day 300 rs. Total forgery is being done here. Don't don't don't ever visit this place ever If you don't want to waste your money.

At a much lower altitude than the town. It does not offer any view of the Kanchenjunga range, even on an exceptionally clear morning. All that you can see from here are a few lower hills (see photo). Lack of infrastructure, and extremely poor hospitality.

Amazing place to spend a few days, off grid. A few kms away from the main Ravangla Town.offers breath-taking views from every room. Courteous staff, simple food at offer. Room are spacious, clean, well equipped and well the views are simply mesmerising.alcohol is not available at the property. Consider a short walk to the Seven mirror Lake and Doling monastery. The Manager, is very helpful with transport and is good company. If you are looking for a few days away from the city here is the place to be.

The Barfung Retreat is a wonderful forest retreat, located in the lapse of nature, a few kms from Ravangla. The retreat has spacious rooms offering great view of the hills and surrounded by lush greenery. The retreat has individual cottages and there is an amazing serenity associated with it. The food here is cooked in local style. The noodles and chilly chicken were great. Even the local chicken curry with rice was amazing. The service was good and the staffs were very friendly. Absolutely loved my stay here. The Buddha statue is clearly visible from the hotel and it looks spectacular at night.

I will never recommend this place to anyone! Such overpriced property without the expected amenities. Just providing a comfortable room doesn't qualify for being a good stay option. Nothing remarkable about views, very poorly maintained property. The manager Mr Dinesh was more eager to impress upon us how he treats foreigners and firangis and not much interested to host Indian guests.

The barfung retreat is a fantastic place to rejuvenate and relax far away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The Buddha statue of ravangla is clearly seen from this retreat. At night mostly our times used to pass this way. This is situated right in the laps of the mountains a perfect nature's abode.

The food is great. We had authentic sikkim Thakkali that is the sikkimese thali of rice, daal and chicken with bamboo shoots and fries.

The two day stay was absolutely amazing. The staff is hospitable and the owner is a very kind gentleman.

This place is an absolute must to visit.

Visited this property as a part of our self driver Roadtrip (Sikkim wanderlust). The drive from Gangtok to Ravangla is no less than a mini adventure. No traffic no Honking and the curvicious roads welcome you with mini waterfalls at almost every curve. The drive is scenic n bumpy sometimes. The location of the property is awesome. The rooms are spacious and heaters are provided. The Food provided is basic and tasty. We had a wonderful stay. The owner and his family provide good company. If you like to spend your holiday in a lost world, lazying around playing, reading books and enjoying nature then knock the doors of Barfung Retreat.

Can view Kanchunjunga ranges from the room. This place is surrounded by greenary, with small trekking trails around. It is super fun with crew good at music and guitar. Bonfire with chicken roast was super fun event.

It was a great experience in staying Burfung. We stayed two nights in M1 suite. Room was super big and luxurious. Balcony was very large with great view of mountain ranges. Away from the crowd - its a great place for nature lover.

I did not have time so far to write the review but our experience was extremely bad.firstly, the hotel is situated about 45 mins to 1 hr drive away frim main town.we had arrived at the hotel after driving in heavy rain from gangtok at 8pm.on goibibo i was being shown that my rooms are ready. But on arrival the manager told us they were overbooked and only 1 room was there for us (we were 4 adults so had booked 2 rooms). We were shocked and scared as well bcoz it was night in a hilly station and was raining heavily.we had no clue what to do.the manager was very casual initially telling that it was not his fault, it was the reservations team fault and we should complain to goibibo.we were not getting network on our phones also.ultimately we decided to go to the police station in ravangla town.then finally the manager arranged for our accomodation in another hotel called buddha retreat to which we had to drive back to town in the rain with zero visibility.the pictures i have given is of the poor visibility we had while driving. Ultimately we were glad that the manager had arranged for a hotel and our stay at buddha retreat was comfortable but this sort of overbboking hotels should be penalised for.
