Tsomgo Lake View Point

It was really amazing and scenic place where you will see local yaks and lakes and enjoy the view of the lake. It is also very cold place so I would suggest you to go there around April- may which is ideal and suitable time and you must carry warmers for the same. Here you will find lots of local foods and yaks and cameramen with local Sikkim dress to take pictures of whole family together.

Tsomgo Lake,  also known as Tsongmo Lake or Changgu Lake, is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim, some 40 kilometres (25 mi) from the capital Gangtok. Located at an elevation of 3,753 m (12,313 ft), the lake remains frozen during the winter season. The lake surface reflects different colours with change of seasons and is held in great reverence by the local Sikkimese people.  Buddhist monks prognosticated after studying the changing colours of the lake.
The lake is formed in an oval shape and has a surface area of 24.47 hectares (60.5 acres). The maximum length of the lake is 836 metres (2,743 ft) and has a maximum width of 427 metres (1,401 ft). The maximum depth reported is 15 metres (49 ft) while the average depth is 4.58 metres (15.0 ft). The lake water quality is of moderate turbidity. [3]

The lake is the venue for the Guru Purnima festival which is also the Raksha Bandhan festival when the faith healers known as Jhakris of Sikkim assemble at the lake area to derive benefits from the healing qualities of the lake waters. [1]

Snow capped view point which offers a panoramic view of the lake and has a place for vehicles to stop and click pictures. You can sometimes find locals selling tea at this point.
One side of the road is the lake and the other side is snow covered mountain.

This lake is located just before of nathula border of east sikkim. Beautiful place and what a superb view.

Beautiful lake with a clear and crisp reflection of the mountains. Snow can also be found beside the roads. Yak riding is done here, and cable car is available for reaching a higher viewpoint. Cafeterias are there as well.

It's like heaven, it's nature natural beauty, it's better than Switzerland, this place beauty time to time changes so all every seasons have unique beauty.

This is a sacred lake situated at East Sikkim. You have to take permission for tsomgo lake, Baba Mandir, and Nathula.

Head up a km or so from the lake towards Nathu La and you get to this beautiful vantage point of the lake from above. So calm and serene!

Such a serene experience. It was my first snow experience. Yak ride was excellent. The view was awesome.

This lake is located on the way to Nathu La from Gangtok and is highly revered by people across Sikkim. In winters, the lake gets frozen and during summers, the lake gets really beautiful with great views.
You can find Yaks near to this lake for photography and short, medium and long rides on chargeable basis.
There is also a ropeway near to it which provides nice view of the valley and the areas adjoining to it.

Lovely lake with magnificent views. Yak guys force you to get on yak for pictures or for rides.so did it. Its a nice break to enjoy the scenery.

U have a lake and a few yaks. Its a photoshooting point. But there is nothing beyond to explore at the stop.everytying is pitstops in a long journey. Go only if the purpose is to tick all boxes in sikkim.

Awesome view of Tsomgo or Changu lake from this view point. Yak rides are available but they charge very high price for the rides. Be sure to bargain it.

Tsongmo lake, popularly known as Changu lake is a very scenic place. It is on the way to Nathu La pass so visited by many tourists. The road leading to the lake itself is so beautiful.
The lake is considered very sacredby locals. Even putting feet in the lake water is not allowed. Some face oxygen problem here due to its height. Yak ride is a unique experience here.

Tsomogo Lake aka Changu Lake is one of the highest altitude lakes in the Eastern Part of Sikkim. Situated at an elevation of 3753 meters above sea level, Changu is a serene glacial lake just about 40 km away from the capital of Sikkim, Gangtok.

Stretching over more than 1 kilometre and with an average depth of 48 km, Tsomgo with its green emerald water along with the breathtaking view of mountain peaks in the backdrop has bewitched many travellers towards it. The panoramic view the mountain peaks in the backdrop provides solace to the disturbed soul of the visitors. Moreover, after relishing the beauty of this picturesque lake, one can also visit its nearby sightseeing places like Nathula Pass, Gangtok, Sikkim Himalayan Zoological Park, Baba Mandir, etc.

The place is a treat to watch. I visited this place during the start of December but if you are looking for snow and some frozen lake then would suggest you to visit during mid of December. Though we found snow during our visit but it was just residual from last night's snowfall. Do visit the place around 8 AM in the morning. Generally that is the time when weather is clear and you would be able to enjoy your visit. Also, at this time the ice on the roads would have started melting and you would be able to experience a safe visit to this serene place.

Mesmerizing lake in hills with crystal blue water and made more beautiful with patakas hanging, wind flowing and decorated yaks roaming.

Opposite is a beautiful hill and a little hike gives you a more beautiful eagle view of the area.

This place is very nice and attractive for tourists every year. I'm happy to shared my experience on Tsongmo lake.it is full of mysterious when you go up above and the oxygen level decline. And temp go down.feel suffocation and vomiting.but every where you see lots of ice berg and in middle lake is present.

Excellent view, Very small lake. Yak ride is must here but yak ppl will ask you too much money for rides.you must bargain to get a comfortable and affordable ride.they asked for 3000 per person, we managed to get 1200 for 4 ppl.so it's based on the talking skilled you got. No regulation no government supervision not well developed tourism area

You can get elevated views of the lake as you travel from Tsomgo Lake towards Sherathang / Baba Mandir.
There is no specific view point but you can stop by the roadside to click few pics of the lake.
The lake is frozen for a couple of months in winters every year.

Beautiful, serene, damn cold, below minus, Yak, frozen lake, ropeway, 360₹ per head, Kanchanjungha view on a clear day, panoramic, windy, less oxygen, need gloves anytime and one last thing. Mesmerizing
