The hilly road is covered with colorful Rhododendron flowers, and the presence of colorful flags are like cherry on the cake

Just an awesome place I have never seen before and the surrounding is pure gold like heaven

The Yumthang Valley or Sikkim Valley of Flowers sanctuary, is a nature sanctuary with river, hot springs, yaks and grazing pasture on rolling meadows surrounded by the Himalayan mountains in the North Sikkim district of Sikkim state in India. It is at an elevation of 3,564 metres (11,693 ft) above msl at a distance of 150 kilometres (93 mi) from the state capital Gangtok.

It is popularly known as 'Valley of Flowers' and is home to the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, which has over twenty-four species of the rhododendron, the state flower. The flowering season is from late February and to mid June, when countless flowers bloom to carpet the valley in multicolored hues of rainbow. A tributary of the river Teesta flows past the valley and the town of Lachung, the nearest inhabited centre. Yumthang is closed between December and March due to heavy snowfall. There is also a hot spring in the valley.

A forest rest house is the only permanent residence in the valley. During the spring months, the area blooms with rhododendrons, primulas, poppies, iris and other flora. During the summer months, villagers take their cattle to these heights to graze (a practice known as yaylag pastoralism). In view of increasing number of tourists, there is possibility of environmental degradation in near future. Skiing is conducted in the valley.

Mind blowing place. Every age categories can enjoy the scenic beauty of this place. For me it is a Gods portrait. The vally of flowers will mesmerize your senses and will forget your long travel tiredness for sure.
Tea, coffee, and wine sellers are available. Some food sellers are also available.

Awesome place with great feeling of enriching your life with freshness, rejuvenating winds blowing all through the place with a stream adding to its beauty. Loved the place wish to visit again. The route to this valley is filled with rhododendrons and juniper one can bring some as memento to burn it as a holy offering to their respective Faith. As I did bring twigs with wild juniper leaves. Their are forests of junipers and rhododendron in the area. Har har mahadev.

It's an amazing place with attarctive natural beauty. One can be fascinated with the indescribable beauty of this valley. Who one like to enjoy the natural scenery can visit thus place.

We visited in October so there was neither snow nor any flowers! Yet this place was serene and had a its own unique charm. There's a huge place for yourself and you can find a peaceful place on river banks and explored the mountains around you. Some touristy stuff like yak rides are there but you can ignore them if you move a litte away from the parking area.

Yumthang valley is one of the best valleys I have visited so far with the river stream flowing down and the mountain surrounding you. It's a mesmerizing experience

The valley of flowers is carpeted at a height of more than 11,000 feet above sea level at around 128 kilometres from Gangtok.the grazing yaks by the banks of wild Teesta river and the many hot springs amid the towering mountain peaks position Yumthang valley among the top places to visit in Sikkim.

Okay, most of all, it's such a lovely place! The way towards the Yumthang Valley is really nice. I went there at mid-October but if you want to see the beauty of nature, if you want to witness the moment when you see this place and you will find out why this place is called "The Valley of Flower", then you have to plan your trip to Yumthang Valley in March.
