Eden, Besant Nagar, remains as our favourite family hangout for the past 25 years. We have become addicted to the continental and North Indian dishes. The taste of Spaghetti Supreme offered by them is far beyond any praise. The spaghetti, tossed lavishly with delicious cream containing panneer koftas, really kindles your taste buds. A great place for vegetarians!
Great place for vegetarians and people who prefer jain meals. The food quality is also good and very clean place. Great place to go with family as well.
A multi-cuisine vegetarian restaurant that satisfies a large group/family with different taste buds. I’m an addict to their lasagna & other continental dishes. The
EDEN probably should deploy noise dampener on the walls as the noise levels of fellow diners is quite high. This does not take excellent food and service.
The desserts were not available when asked, and some dishes were not available as well but it was mentioned in menu as special even some beverages were not available other than these, rest is good.
This restaurant is a pride of Besant nagar and has been for decades now. Every time I visit Chennai from I make it a point to eat here and it never disappoints. I mean, the consistency of this restaurant is mind blowing. They serve amazing food at a reasonable price and service. I have pretty much had every item in the menu and it’s always amazingly tasty. Both their Indian selection to Continental dishes are amazing. Loved their Karuveppilai sadam/Curry leaf rice w gravy. It’s a pride of Besant nagar for sure. Love it and it’s a must-try. They accept all form of payments. Street parking
It is a Vegetarian restaurant. The food was good but the service was a bit slow. Food was delicious. I visit Eden just to have their Corn on Toast. Must try: Corn on Toast, Paneer Tikka, Corn Seekh.
I really disappointed the service they provided today. Many years I am coming to eden. Today not much crowd like early. But, service is very poor. Expecting good service in next visit.
Besant Nagar veg pace back in action Tried Khow Suey - noodles with rich veg sauce, fried onions, peanuts, and a side of vinegar soaked veggies. Yummy. Spicy thai rice had the classic thai taste. Even the humble aloo mutter was excellent and went well with the pulao. There is a make your own pasta option- choose the type of pasta penne, fussilli, spaghetti, sauce - herb cheese, pesto, pepper.cream and your selection of veggies. All washed down with some perfectly made lime soda. (sweet, salt or both). Apple pie with whipped cream for dessert. That was a good meal. Portions are adequate for one adult.menu shared below
The food here is so good here Visit this place for best food Everything here is well maintained and so calm place to visit The food here is delicious Especially vegetable bowl and pasta Even the Brocoli soup is too good I really suggest this place Do give a try Best place Even the ambience is calm and well composed Food 5/5 Ambience 4/5 Service 4/5
Taste is good with variety of dishes. Even traditional people from South India will have something to chew. Ambience is average and they are taking more time to serve
Visiting this place was a sudden plan. While looking for a pure veg restaurant with multiple varities found this place. The options was many. Had Italian and Indian cuisine. Starters were good and tasty. Worth the price. Main course tried Naan and gravy. Felt both gravy were almost same but taste was good. Also had veg Biryani which was tasty and full of masala. Lastly had desert which was way tooo big and can be shared by 3 people for a single serving which was chocolate cake with cream. Had too much expectations on it but wasnt that great as chocolate cake and the liquid sause was hot but the cream was suttle and tasteless. Overall a good experience. You also have tiffin items there in Indian cuisine. Rates are reasonable and staff were super sweet and served super quick. A place worth trying.
It is so funny that I always eat 6 or 7 items last 25 years out of several hundred best and tasty menu they have. I love their Tomato soup, Paneer Tikka, Garlic toast with Cheese, Fried Masala Papa, Chilli cheese toast, Cutlets, Biriyani and ofcourse the best Grape Juice. One of the best place to eat - vouched by my family members and friends.
Have been having lunches and dinners in eden since inception. A wonderful place to have good quality vegetarian food. The owners are one passionate bunch
Service is very slow during peak hours. I was a regular once.but of late find that the food taste has gone down considerably. Tomato soup was plain bad, Lasagne not baked well. Hope they improve the quality.
Excellent. Tasty & quality. All the best. They are maintining the same quality. I knew this place for the past 25 years. Same quality & tasty food. Superb Ambiance.
Eden is my most favourite place in Besant Nagar to stop by for some delicious vegetarian food. Located on the first floor, it isn't very spacious, but has a lovely ambience and decor. They serve really good North Indian food. The must tries are the continental starter. The quantity is really good for the prices, and is a great place for a happy, satisfied meal with your family.
Usually our most fav, homely atmosphere joint and will never miss. After a year of lockdown and staying at home, called to check how crowded they are these days. A rude reply said, at 6pm, how can we assure. We 4 reach at 7pm and see center occupied by more than 30 people, adults kids, no mask and total noisy. Avoidable for covid reasons.
If you want tasty food but can wait then Eden is the welcome choice for you in Besant Nagar area. The Restaurant is not big, less tables, you cannot make reservations but still it's popular with elite and youth. The ambience is good which enhances dining experience. The price is a bit steep, every item is more than Rs. 200! But has good taste! Service is average and can be better. Accepts cards. Parking on roads only. Good for weekend dining with family and friends.
Worst service.making ppl wait like hell. Eden food has lost its taste.the creamy in the continental food has gone.ambience is worst. According to the crowd they not expand the restaurant. Feel like hell. Had to wait for the order for more than 30mins.went to restaurant at 8.30pm waited for a table until 9.20pm and then got the ordered food at 9.45pm.totally bad experience. Would NVR recommend to any1.
Lovely place great quality food. One place you would want to visit again and again and try everything they have. Soups Starters Continental North Indian South Indian Desserts they have maintained their rich traditions over so so many years.
Excellent service. Awesome taste. All the items we bought were nice. Whole group enjoyed the food. All type of foods were equally good & tasty. Price was little higher. But taste over takes.
One of the finest options you can find for continental Vegetarian food.wide variety of snacks, meals and sundaes available.a bit expensive but is quite well established in terms of its quality
Eden still serves some good vegetarian food in Chennai. The quality did come down in between, but I think they have definitely improved it in recent times. The service was fast, but the tables are too closely placed. Otherwise a decent place for the family crowd
Wanted to visit Eden for long time. Food was ok but there is something missing. Tried Rotis, stuffed paratha, butter naan and paneer pulav. Rotis become soft too soon. Pulav was dry, can add some ghee. Paneer tikka masala was normal. Nothing to rave about.
Not good service and one of the worst food experience. The only thing that was good was saunf which was not made by Eden. Couldn't give negative star (facepalm)
Been going to this place for many years. Excellent food. Price is slightly on the higher side but totally worth it. Quantity of the food is worth the price.
Nice, quaint place, located in the midst of Besant Nagar, serving pretty food. We ordered felafel for starter, rotis and a stuffed tomato and a khaoseuy and we were not disappointed. We also had sundaes which were not bad. Could have been better.
This place is on our list to visit with out of town guests. Love everything we've ever ordered, but we especially love the tender coconut cashew chicken.
Food could have been better. Potatos wedges were over fried. The stuffed Partha & the side dish was flavour less. Chef's special-mixed veg murtabak was a disaster. Too much of curry leaves & flavour was not too good.
No longer has the professional touch and briskness it had when it started and earned a great name. Place is understaffed. Do not go as a group coz the waiters cannot handle a crowd. What's worse they' refuse ' to serve when a dish arrives. Groups have to volunteer to serve amongst themselves. The owner needs to take notice of this. A bull of 12000 rs and we a group of 24 needed to serve ourselves. Only on persistence the gravy and rotis were served. Methi matar malai is not the familiar green leafy in white gravy dish. Its peas inside tomato gravy. How can they claim that this is methi mutter malai? Disappointed
Eden was always my all time favourite restaurant for the last 2 decades but I guess with my emerging taste and Eden's non altered food over the years, I don't really find the food mind blowing anymore
One of my all time favourite restaurants. Have been a fan of this place for ages now. Venky & Aparna have been running this place with a set of dedicated team that is pretty much like a family. One of the most important things is the service, and we have always been very happy with the service at Eden. There are many favourites of ours here.like Corn on toast, fried cauliflower, Corn Florentine, Vegetable Shaslik. The all time favourite though is the Madras Risotto, which is a plate of herbed rice served as a hill on a plate and under the rice is a thick tasty sauce with vegetables. When you go out to eat with elders who do not prefer Italian / Continental cuisine, they have the varied option of South Indian dishes like Idli, Dosa et al and North Indian dishes too.
Ambience, Taste, Service: 2/5 - Really bad I rarely leave such negative reviews for restaurants because there's at least one thing good about every place. But here, everything was horrible!
I've been to Eden before. And it's was, if not great, a pleasant experience then. We went there based on that.
But the food was served too late. Pasta was too bland and tasteless. Lasagne had not enough salt in it. Noodles was dry. Only the carrot dessert tasted good.
We didn't finish any of the dishes. When we complained to the management, they did nothing to correct the situation.
Highly unlikely that we'll visit this place again.
Really good food! Corn on Toast is a must-have starter. Although the food is really really good, the service can be improved. It's very slow and given the crowd that visits Eden, amount of time between courses and from the time of ordering should be improved.
