Kaaraikudi Chettinad Restaurant

Food taste is very average, we have ordered chicken, kadai and mutton, none of them were up to the mark. You can have only meals. Not value for money.

The ambience brings the karaikudi flavour, but don't expect it in the food taste. The food is pukka north Indian. They hardly gave the non-veg pieces, that too with only bones, semi-cooked. I.e, you will not be able to bite it. They are all waste. Even after asking, their response is poor. Food was not hot enough. Will never visit here once again. Costly. The ambience took me inside. Otherwise, I would not have entered.

Worst tasted food. Asked for Chicken 65 briyani and 3 plates idly. For name sake they gave a 65 piece in it and taste less baasmathi rice.idlie's sambar n chutnes were awful.

Tried Kaaraikudi after several years. The food wasn’t too great. The Nandu Rasam had too less spice and less salt. The fish fry was too dry. Chicken 65 was very good. The Briyani was okayish. The meals was mediocre at its best. Pallipalayam chicken was okayish. Finally Ilaneer Payasam a huge relief capping off an otherwise uninteresting experience little better. Lots of yesteryear charm has waned in this restaurant.

Very bad experience. They made us to wait for half and hour and said that the food was over. If they had told it earlier, we would have able to order any other food. Don't recommend to anybody.

I have been to this restaurant a couple of days ago with family. The ambiance was very uncomfortable. Very musty smell and the hotel looks it can take a lot of cleaning to make it a better place. Oh the food! Gosh even a local joint would serve better food. Spent 2500rs for 2 chicken biriyani, 3 parotas, chicken gravy n a so called chicken 65. It's not about the cost but it's about the quality n taste. Both were missing and leave alone the pigeon sized quantity they served. The hotels are freezing people with their so called popular names. So it's best to stick to homemade food.best quality, quantity, taste and very healthy.

Their food is good. Place is very neat and authentic. If u want to eat in non veg restaurant with ur family, or office friends tis place is suitable. Their service is good. It's worth.

Lol I found this as a funny one. As we were ordering the starters they brought them out. I was surprised how fast it come out. But when I saw the sizes I thought they were samplers later to realise that was my complete starter. Insanely small quantities, although the food is mediocre good they definitely hog on the quantities. Honestly I'm never going back. Service was great tho

Old school restaurant. Although the taste of dishes was okayish-good, quantity was very less for the price at which they offer.

It is sad to see a restaurant situated in a prime location lacks the enthusiasm to serve guest with good tasty food. The attukal soup was below par and great disappointment.

Very very poor restaurant. Very worst in all the aspects such as quality of food, taste and cleanliness. If anyone wants to go alone then that's fine, if you want to go with your family, relatives, friends or special occasion then this hotel is not advisable.

We ordered Dindigul mutton biryani and they served basmati biryani, we cancelled it and ordered meals and mutton liver. Meals was good and the mutton liver fry was ok not worth the money.

Quality of food, Quantity are really pathetic and definitely these guys dont have any sense of service. 3 of our friends visited this restaurant for lunch on 2nd May and ordered soup and the following starters
1. Mutton Kola urundai
2. Nethili Fry
3. Chettinad Chicken 65
4. Pallipalayam Chicken

Out of this Chettinad Chicken tasted better but the quantity was far lesser
Nethili Fry was not fresh at all, the fry tasted like the fish has been very old stock
In Mutton Kola urundai, didnt even feel mutton taste, it was like eating veg balls
Finally ordered 2 Chicken biryani and 1 mutton, for comparison, tomato rice would have tasted much better. There was no flavor and both the rice from Chicken and Mutton were tasting exactly the same.

The mutton pieces in the biryani were extremely hard and not looking fresh as we get in Mughal or any other biryani. It was 100% frozen meat and stocked for many days.

We couldnt complete our lunch and asked them to pack the rice from the biryani bowl and gave it to the needy.

Pros - Have lot of parking space and ambience is good.

Good place to gather with family. Hall is big you can play dance with your family. 20-30 people gathering looks good there.

It's a nice place for a family, ambitious place, staffs are good, overall it's a nice place to hang out with family's. The food is good not very spicy as the normal Chettinad food use to, the food over here a quite melo.

The place has fallen apart over the years. Food was very very average, the meals they serve is an absolute joke. The side dishes all have the same base masala or batter. There was nothing karaikudi about it. The last nail in the coffin was the washbasin had food stuck in the drain and filled up and they didn’t have finger bowls either. If you’re looking for authentic chettinadu food this isn’t the place, look at other options.

The party hall is good. As small office, we can consider our office parties hear. The Spicy foods served here with a little touch of Andra. I visited this party hall with my office group of 45 members.we enjoyed the food here.

We ordered special Chettinad meals they gave us all veg dishes with only one non veg (that too only soup). Taste was bad I'll not recommend this.

Extremely clean environment; bathrooms too!
Food has lot of paper- Karaikudi special.
Not too many veg varieties tho. Gave Veg kothy parota a try. It was made with carrots and was sweet. Personally, did not like it. Briyani was good. Parotta with chicken pepper masala was delicious. Oh! And parotta was not served with any sidedish like salna.

Awful. The food was not very good quality and was overpriced. Chicken briyani served with old chicken meat, Very disappointed with the food.

Mutton biriyani and other choice dishes were not available. Chicken biryani was just ok. Standard deteriorated.

Variety and taste is authentic. Price is on the higher side due to presence in the mall but not too high as well. Staff are good and covid protocol is maintained well

Waited one hour literally for a plate of biriyani.

If you want to waste your time and money for tasteless overrrprized food then this is right place. Even home made tamarind rice will be better taste comparing Biriyani served here. If I have authority to ban a restaurant this restaurant will be my only choice, good for karaikudu restaurant that I don’t have that authority.

We were there on sunday.it is located inside the EA Mall. After we ordering the food, hair was available inside the rice.after we complaint a person, he never mind abt it. Never seen this kind of service in my life.

Little bit costly, but considering the location and food quality price is ok.

This place is terrible after lockdown. Customer service has died a sad, sad death here. The manager just wants to fill up, and empty the tables as fast as he can. Half the items in the menu are not available. AVOID. Try Amaravathi very close by, it's better by miles.

Affordable restaurant. Has maintained the looks and feel that it had around 10 years back. Fast service. Recommend the Prawns 65, Liver Fry, Parottas.

Good place to have dinner and lunch with family. The receipie is spicy. Good place for spice food lovers.

Worst quantity for overpriced food and the taste was also not good. Too much salt in all the food. And I'll add the picture of the quantity of the food. Please don't cheat the customers. I asked whether the quantity will be sufficient for the overpriced food and the sales person from the take away services guy said it'll be more.

Ambience needs improvement, not much decor to bring Karaikudi effect. Food was decent and staff behaved well much better than the Manager who was rude. I am still giving 3 Star rating for the name. Better improve your hospitality skills and ambience before someone rates you low.

Once upon a time the food was good. Now looks they have outsourced their kitchen. Biryani was oily and the choice of the rice was of low quality.

Very bad experience. Fish was not boiled properly. Chicken fry didn't have salt and wasn't spicy.

Went here to take away chicken pepper roast today night around 10.
They charged me 270rs and they gave me literally of 4 small peices of leftout chicken the whole day
which would maximum cost about 100rs. On take away.

With so many new outlets this old restaurant is still got it own style and taste. Got a bucket briyani, it was amazing and I felt it was lighter on the pocket too. Waiting for the lockdown to be lifted to try the entire menu.

Very nice Chettinad Mess. So many non-veg varieties are available here. Chicken gravy is the ultimate. One of the best non-veg hotels in chennai

Not expected the taste from the authenticated restaurant. Totally disappointed on chicken 65 biryani, fish fingers.

Authentic Chettinad food served at a reasonable price. I ordered non veg unlimited meals, mutton chukka, KCR fried chicken and Jigarthanda. Non veg meals strangely had non veg gravies with out any pieces of fish or chicken in them. All food items tasted very good. Jigarthanda could have had a bit more chill to it.
Service was excellent. Ambience reminds you of some old style home. Interesting placement of vessels and pictures add to the aura of this place. Definitely a must try place if you want to try some authentic Chettinad food.

Calm, nice south Indian food especially for elders who wish to come occasionally with their loved ones. That is what I observed. Price also moderate. I suggest the mangegement should offer 20% discount for 60 year and more. Advertise in news paper see the crowd.
