Don’t ever go to this restaurant!
It is definitely costly.
1 dosa is 120. It is okay! But what enraging is they don’t even provide any gravy (considering they are pure non veg) or at least sambar, chutney.
The manager there demanded us to buy separate gravy! ! That too without any respect! We opened our banana leaf and left there it as it is!

Worst experience in this mess.
How could a mess can run without a washroom. There is a law that they supposed to allow to drink water and also need to allow for the restroom when it is need. The one who is in the bill counter is saying that we don't have restroom here go out there is a restroom. Check with this act "Sarais Act, 1867 "that even in the 5star hotel they supposed to allow to drink water and to the restroom.

Price is really very high. Normal middle class cannot afford. I had to arrange menu in ascending order of cost and choose lowest. Even after for 1 person the cost came to Rs 480 for dinner. This is not star hotel. Just a normal one in railway station. I suggest hotel management to consider reducing cost.

The high prices at this place didn't align with the food's quality, and the taste fell short compared to other seemingly scripted reviews. The dining experience here doesn't do justice to the reputation of Kumar Mess in Madurai.

Mr.shanmuganthan the food was good which I felt melted with taste and I also liked the service and the food which wasn't able to get in Maharashtra the non veg which accepted that i recieved at this place

I ordered non-veg meals. The price was Rs. 150 excluding taxes for a less quantity but in the menu card, it was written as 100. And also the service is poor.

Overall it is ok service wise but on cost part for 2 mutton nalli pieces charging Rs 350/- is too high I have not heard of in any non vegetarian restaurant in my 40 years of Hotel dining at chennai (BUHARI/Thallapakatti) Coming again to Kumar mess to be reviewed by us. My fav go to lunch place since its inception in Madurai. Nice owners and affable staff. Home-like food guaranteed. All dishes good, both main and sides.

Very rude staff.
They say no seat for vegetarian even if they come along with non veg eating people.
If there is one veg person in a family coming to restaurant, do they mean we have to ask the veg eating person to stand outside!

Since they have become these type restaurants treat customer with so much disrespect.

Need not say about the price. Sky high.

Worst service and no proper response from serving person.rude behavior and when I was there few other peoples also faced same issue they shouted too. Food taste was good but without respect no one will conform table to eat.

The food here is one of my favourite in Chennai. Everything here is very tasty and the quality is excellent. Mutton Biryani, Mutton Kari Dosai, Vanjiram Fish Fry, Idiappam, Kal dosai with meen kozhambu are a must try. It is definitely pricey but totally worth it.

Quality is good. Taste is just normal like other small restaurants. Highly highly expensive Min 300 to 400Rs for a single dish. Checkout before you dine in. Price can be sorted out. Staffs who takes order could be more friendly.

Ordered non veg meals.not worth for money.average taste. They served 400gm rice one bowl fish curry with one piece. Rs. 440 bill amount. Tambaram itself we can get unlimited meals less with this price with same kind of ambience and more taste

. For 170rs other hotels are giving Basmathi rice but this restaurant gives normal rice with 275rs, rice quality is worst And coming to the chicken Gravy my hostel Gravy is better then this. Restaurant

Very small portion with high price. Biriyani was worst, the rice was like ration rice. Gravy was very small portion all rated 300rs. Extremely expensive. Service was good. One person will need atleast 1000rs for a lunch

Cost vs Food Quality average only. Food is costly here. Quality and Quantity is Average. Better to satisfy Customers with reasonable cost.

Worst place I ever had food. Food quality was poor. Roadside food are much better than this. Parotta Rs. 50/ without any gravy.buy side dish separately cost you 250/-. There is no hospitality. Price for food is too high. I suggest others to eat roadside hotel or some other restaurants nearby. Don't ever visit this Mess again

Sort of pure non veg restaurant with little or no options for vegetarians. Have different non veg varieties of dosas and idiyappam and parotta. Very friendly customer service. Was not at all crowded on a Saturday night. Well maintained. Price is slightly on the higher end. Taste is good for non veg dishes.

மஹா மட்டமான டேஸ்ட்டு [ ordered dosa for that gravy is extra charge and given 2 chutney, i asked for sambar or gravy they given gravy mixed with water. Waiter said if you want good consistency gravy order separately.they free garvy for dosa will be waterish.

Not upto the mark don't waste your money here very expensive but the quantity of every dish is very less.

Treat customers properly. You may be giving tasty food but the customer experience is very worst and keep in mind that you are not giving anything for free. This is Just another money minded hotel. They are treating customers badly, people should think before going here.

Not worthy, too expensive for low quality food, even we can have a food in local street shops but not in Madura Kumar mess. Also there is no UPI transaction and QR transaction only card and cash it seems very silly reasons has given from staffs and not even giving a basic respect to the customers.

Last Sunday we went Kumar mess with my family. Worst service and I never have such a worst experience there. Don't waste the money there. All prices are high but not that much quantity and quality too.

Ordered for Home delivery, Deepak and team from Madurai Kumar Mess Tambaram IRCTC Branch delivered food, Packing of each dish is excellent along with that they have given few varieties of Gravies that's excellent. They also gave Banana leaf that's a sweet surprise, when we have food in banana leaf it adds up some more taste. Briyani and side dishes are excellent. I felt Madurai taste after long time in Chennai. Last week I ordered Aiyrameen Kulambu that's also excellent, its one of their signature dish. Thanks Team Madurai Kumar mess IRCTC Tambaram Branch.

A vera level restaurant for southern cusine. Limited menu with awesome Chettinad taste and flavours also with reasonable price.

Became my recent fav restaurant. Every dish still making me mouthwatering.their chicken lolipop was so excellent very crunchy and the chicken was very juicy, vanjaram fish fry stole my heart, usually i dont try sea foods on restaurant coz it smell their raw smell, bt here only the masala smell exist, Biriyani worth the money and littrely a must try.

Madurai Kumar Mess is one of my favourite restaurant around Chennai. Whether it's Velachery branch or Tambaram. Their service in Velachery branch is exceptional when you dine in. Tambaram also seems to be fairly good from my observation. Though this one is small, the interior seems to be good. You can easily realise that the interior is kind of cost effective, minimalistic and multifunctional. The artistic walls are something to admire. The ambience is nice. The price is as usual average. The food taste and quality is excellent, "Madurai Kumar Mess" trademark shows well.

One of the best places to visit in chennai for foodstuff. Best known for Nonveg. Quality and service at the most. Taste buds bloom for feast like parotta with chettinad gravy and mutton chukka. There was a Pleasant atmosphere and it is good to visit with our family

We ordered some dishes seeing the price chart that was hung there. The person who took the order didn't mention that the prices of the parcel food (not Delivery, just parcel) is different from the menu that we were referring. They charged literally double the charges for everything we ordered in the name of 'parcel'. They should have mentioned about the different menu card beforehand. And also it's expensive.

Worst food I have ever eaten…not worth for the money…. Every item there was much over priced…I should not have given this star also.

Ordered 3 parottas and 1 omlette. Each parotta - 50 rupees and omlette - 40 rupees. Adding gst the total bill came to 209 rupees. I thought the food will be worth because I didn't had another option as I was running to catch my train. But to my utter disappointment the parottas were too salty and the gravy was like a hot masala water with chicken/mutton intestine floating. Waste of food and money.

Quantity is very low for their charging of price. Moreover the cook fails to create same magic everyday

A very compact space for a restaurant.but we'll maintained within the IRCTC food court. The working kitchen is see through with glass and looks clean and well maintained.the quality of food is also good, a good choice of authentic Madurai food is available on menu, we liked the Jigar Thanda very much

Authentic delicacy of Tamilnadu cuisine delivered on a plate. The portion are smaller but tasting good. Staff is interactive. Vegetarians will need to settle for the awesome idli and Kalpana dosa with kozhumbu

Taste is authentic madurai. Quantity is good for those who are in diet. I mean 3 to 4 piece in each item. At least to spend 300 to eat stomach full

The food tastes great! Place is clean, well maintained and staff were really friendly. A wide variety of Chettinadu Non-Veg options are available here. Nice option for travelers and locals around the place!
