When I went here it was afternoon, the temple was closed, but it is written on the main gate of the temple that it is the origin place of the revolution of 1857 (freedom struggle revolution).

Sri Baba Augharnath Shiv Mandir or famously known as Kali Paltan Mandir is a very old temple in the Army Cantonment area.
It is a very beautiful and clean temple very well maintained.
Lord Shiva Linga, Shankar Parvati, Goddess Durga, Radha Govind Dev ji dieties are there in temple.
You will feel peace of mind and energy in the temple.

It's an important Shiv temple in Meerut Cantt area. Not crowded, well maintained and clean. There is good organization for shoes storage and need to wear decent clothes.

The Augharnath Temple in Meerut, also known as the Kali Paltan Mandir, is the oldest Shiva temple in the city and also the most frequented. The Shiva Linga at this temple is believed to be a Swayambhu (self-manifested), making it a popular attraction among the devotees of Lord Shiva.

The temple’s historical significance stems out from the fact that it played an important role during the Freedom Struggle. Apart from the Shiva Linga, there are shrines for Radha Krishna and Goddess Durga at the temple. Being a predominantly Shiva Temple, the Augharnath Temple is flocked by hundreds of devotees on occasions like Mahashivratri and Purnima.

There is a story behind this name. The first revolution of Freedom by Mangal Pandey was started from this place and English people used to call this battalion as "Kali Paltan" (Group of black people). So this temple also called as Kali Paltan ka mandir.

Augarnath temple is one of the famous sites in meerut. This temple also has historical part. This temple also known as a 'starting point of 1857 revolt'.
Reverence of the peoples towards to this temple is so high. When some special occasion comes like mahashivratri and janmashtami, this temple become the bhakti️ point of peoples.

The name of the Lord here is Augharnath and the temple is also quite big. The Shiv Ling is a small one. The devotees visiting the temple make the place happening and it is a sight to watch different devotees offering their prayers in varied ways. The place is very quite and peaceful before 7 am and becomes hyperactive later on.

As everyone know about this temple but still, whosoever doesn't know, I can let you know it is the famous temple of meerut because of 1857 rebellion! You should visit it once.

I must mention this, it's one of the beautiful temple's I've seen. Situated near the cantt area. Ample of parking space is available.
You might be forced by the small kids to buy the Puja Thali and all, but that can be ignored too.

It is a temple of historical importance. It Meerut it is also known as the "Kali Paltan" temple because the black skinned Indian soldiers of the British Platoon of the Meerut Cantonment used to visit this famous temple of Lord Shiva during the pre-independence era. The well known Sepoy Mutiny of 1857 was planned by the then Indian soldiers of the British Army in this temple. In fact the mutiny worked off from this temple and spread through out India.

Be there to call and meet the liniege of the Lerned Hermits /pandits who live inside and are only there as caretakers of mandir, perform all important prayers and hold festivals too. I have been visiting since 30+ years and have seen it getting better and bigger. Only Parking is an issue as it is in Cantonment
