सेंट्रल रेलवे स्टेशन के पास सन् 1932 में कलक्टरगंज चौराहे पर घंटाघर बनाया गया। स्वतंत्रता सेनानी लोकमान्य बाल गंगाधर तिलक ने यहां से गणपति पूजा की शुरुआत कराई थी।

कानपुर सेंट्रल से सिटी साइड जाने पर घंटाघर चौराहे पर पहुंचेंगे। यहां से शहर के किसी भी स्थान पर जाने के लिए साधन मिलते हैं।
इस चौराहे के चारों ओर नयागंज, कलक्टर गंज, मूलगंज, टाटमिल, डिप्टी पडा़व, एक्सप्रेस रोड, हरवंश माहोल थाना हैं।

It is one of the 5 central railway station in india but not up to mark, security need to be improved nd have around 10 platforms in use, you also need take care of your things every time.

Clean and organized. You can find escalator and lifts in a good working conditions. Platforms are large enough to suffice a huge crowd. Food stalls on station will help you to get the items of your need.

The entry to this side of the Kanpur Central is very poor and cramped up. Lots of dirty places and swacchta goes for a toss here.
Currently, the work for Metro is going on, so it remains a lil more crowded. Hopefully, government’s upcoming development programme will prove to be a boon for Kanpur Central.

Nice station. You get all the information regarding position of coach. Escalators as well as subway facilities are available to come in or out of station.

Very big railway station famously known as kanpur central. It is near to Ghanta ghar. Mostly ticket counters are crowded so go early if you have to buy ticket.

Good and big station. Keep your luggage with you because it is one of the crowdest station. There is proper arrangement to make your journey easy. Be careful of beggars and fraud people.

Stay safe from pickpockets.

And do bargain if u r going to use an autorickshaw. They ask uh thrice the normal fare.

Indian railways is just putting the funds in their pockets, don't know when they renovate this station infrastructure.

That ticket counter lady at window no. 11/12/13 whatever. That lady is cheap. I asked her for a ticket to lucknow for next train and she told me to give me train detains for local ticket booking?
What the hell? Not only this she was rude and mannerless. How can anyone treat other person like that early in the morning. I wish she could suffer the part of misconduct she did that day.
Government employees like her always been part of stigmas in service.

You can find trains to go anywhere from this station. Very clean and tidy station. Delhi trains are available almost every 15 min.

Quite clean but the services are not up to mark.
No one is found in counters and in enquiry.
Escalator is not working, poor hygiene.

This is one of the busiest and largest railway station in State of Uttar Pradesh. From this station we can catch the train for across the nation. This station is very clean and well maintained. Every facilities like restroom, Pay per use toilets and canteens are there on station.

Kanpur Central is one of five "Central" railway stations in India. It is the busiest railway station in India in terms of frequency of trains. Around 230 trains passes through the station daily. It is a major intercity rail and commuter rail station in the city of Kanpur, and is situated on the Howrah - Delhi broad gauge route passing through Uttar Pradesh. It also holds the record for the largest interlocking route system in the world. It is the busiest station of the North Central Railways, recording traffic of more than 150,000 passengers. After determining the railway stations that need to be world-class, former Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee included Kanpur Central in her list. She included funding for this work in her "50 World-Class Railway Stations" budget. A phased revamping has begun.

Though the re-modelling of Kanpur Central Station began a long time ago, it is being done gradually in phases. At present, the re-modelling work is proceeding very slowly, but senior NCR officials are hopeful of keeping their promise of providing a new, improved look to Kanpur Central in the near future.

The food stalls are pathetic. Heavily priced stale food. Plan not to eat here if you're travelling in train. Cleanliness of station is ok though.

One stop for all the Rail passengers. Govt is doing better but overall cleanliness needs to be improved for overall betterment!

The worst hit were the passengers coming out of Kanpurcentral railway station from the city side. They had to walk till Tatmil crossing to board e-rickshaws as there was no public transport around.

Not that much clean, no platform ticket checkings, and if you travelled without ticket to this station, u can escape easily. There is no checkings of passengers, and they can reach directly exit gate, without any checkings

It is normally conceived to be a station with lots of dirt but the things are different at the ground level.
Despite being an old station 100 percent efforts are being made to keep it neat and clean.
As a result of this the station now remains neat and clean.
I would like to appreciate the efforts of railways and the cleaning staff.
An appeal to the general public is to cooperate railways to keep it neat and clean.
All of us want to travel in neat and clean trains, visit to neat and clean stations then it is our duty to help railways to keep them neat and clean by putting the garbage in the garbage box placed at almost each station.

Very big and nice station.cleanliness is satisfactory.can get train for anywhere in india.being a central railway station a lot of trains pass here.maintenance is good.digit information boards and lot of speakers are there to help you updated about your train status.there's sufficient space for parking and a big hall is there to rest.but parking space outside the station is made where it becomes difficult to walk alone in night that's the only concern.

The only thing bad about this station is the cleanliness part which can be justified to an extent that it hosts so many passengers in a single day as it is one of the central station. You get can get trains to almost every part of the country from here.

Well designed face of this station, It gives great feeling with some statues of freedom fighters of India.

It it a important junction. Earlier it used to be dirty but now very clean relatively. Though it is heavily used by rural people, passenger support services are bad. Impression given is you find your own way, we do not care. Retiring room is on third floor and if lift is not working then it can be inconvenient. Retiring room is clean. One can find hotels, restaurants and market towards ghantaghar side.

One of biggest railway junctions, very neatly maintained (more so given that it's in a city like Kanpur!). Most of the trains that go towards East starting from National capital, will pass from this junction, one of the most well connected too

When I was going to Matura, before reach the Mathura I stay in Kanpur Central. Only for 2 hours with friend. Kaafi accha station hai.i like this and giving the 4 star.

The station itself was built in 1928,  although the surrounding building was completed in 1930. The building's construction was inspired by Lucknow's Lucknow Charbagh railway station building which was built by the British in 1914; however, it could not be constructed identically to Charbagh because it would have been exceedingly expensive.

Kanpur Central has undergone a beautification and modernisation effort in recent years, especially following the inclusion of the station in the "50 World-Class Railway Stations" budget, which sought to modernise Indian railway stations, by former Minister of Railways Mamata Banerjee. These efforts mainly include the improvement of services offered to customers and the redevelopment of existing features, such as the installation of a new platform surface at platform number one. The current phase of development is mainly focused on the cleaning up of the side of the station facing the city, with ₹15 million being budgeted to go towards the project. A food plaza is designated to be built on the second floor and two new car parks are also being proposed.

According to a NCR report the station needs at least 10 more platforms to support the ever-increasing passenger amount. At present, the re-modelling work is proceeding very slowly, but senior NCR officials are hopeful of keeping their promises.

Passenger facilitation center

An upcoming passenger facilitation center will consolidate all of the services provided by the railway into one building. These services include, but are not limited to, customer support, retiring room/dormitory booking, wheelchair booking for handicapped passengers, and sale of railway timetables and tickets. All announcements will also be made from this center.

Lighting improvements

An overhaul of the station's lighting has been undertaken. More lighting has been provided in the subway which connects different platforms and tube lights in the subway have been connected with inverters to ensure that there is power at peak times. New LED neon sign boards with the station's name embedded on them are being procured and will soon be installed throughout. A proposal has also been discussed to provide facade lighting in order to give the station building a pleasing appearance during the night hours.

Availability of drinking water

To tackle the water crisis, a round-the-clock water monitoring committee has been established. Senior supervisors from the mechanical, civil, and electrical departments ensure the availability of drinking water on both the platforms and the trains. A grievance committee has also been established so that passengers can register complaints related to the availability of drinkingwaterdrinkingwateo
