I recently dined at AMBER restaurant, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The ambience exuded a sense of history, and the traditional decor added to the charm. The menu offered a wide array of classic North Indian dishes, and the flavors were authentic and delicious. The service was warm and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a taste of North Indian cuisine with a touch of nostalgia.
This place has seen better days. It used to be a high end destination with great North Indian fare with iconic nans, say around 15-20 years back. Was a regular visitor once upon a time with family and friends. Recently visited and had nan with chicken bharta and chicken reshmi butter masala. Was a total disappointment, although the chicken reshmi butter masala was the consolation prize.
Most of the foods were good, fish reshmi tandoori kebab was delicious so was fish Orly, mutton suk korma was decent, the naan was good but the moti biryani was horrible, it was cold, the mutton balls were not laden in silver not did it taste the same all in all the biryani was a absolute disappointment.
Though an old restaurant of repute I am not impressed with the food taste and the ambience. Pricing of food items is on a higher side and does not corroborate with quality and quantity. Carrying out business only on their old reputation.
One of Kolkatas first Mughalai cuisine restaurants, the foods still as good as yesteryear the ambience thought comfortable lacks the vibe it used to carry on its prime but that won't leave you with much to complain about because you'll be there primarily for the food and less for ambience!
One of Calcutta's iconic eateries and a perennial favourite. But I visited after a 7-8 year gap this time and frankly, was disappointed with the food. The starters (fish tikka, mutton barra kabab etc) were as good as ever but main courses like mutton dopyaza and veg jhal firezi tasted similarly bland. Even the kabuli naan - an Amber signature - was slightly rubbery and underdone. Even something as basic as a chocolate nut sundae was ruined by putting a lot of stewed apple pieces in it. I just hope this is not the current normal.it was hopefully a rare, bad day which can happen to best of restaurants.
One of the oldest authentic restaurant in Kolkata, serve multi cuisine.food is average in taste and service is good but everything and everyone needs tips.example they expect tips even when we use wash room for luu.and service is additional.
Good atmosphere with efficient sitting arrangements
Since 1980, my self, my family and friends are visited your hotel many times, in that period the food and your hospitality are Mind blowing, but I am sorry to say, Iam afraid from your everything lost now a days. Hope your hotel again one of the top in the city. Thanks.
AMBER- listed as one of the legendary and iconic restaurant on Zomato's 14 Must visit legendary places in Kolkata.
In frame- Masala Kulcha and Butter Naan paired with Murgh Butter Masala, Chicken Tetrazzini
Cocktails- Screwdriver and Bloody Mary
My experience here was somewhat disappointing when it came to the food. The murgh butter masala was utterly bland and salty. It didn't had any creaminess that is expected from a good serving of butter masala.
Chicken Tetrazzini was good.
Compared to the prices, the portions were pretty less.
Very nice restaurant. We ate Tandoori chicken, Ambar special Biryani with chicken kasa, Butter naan with chicken varta and sweet lime with soda with great pleasure.
One of my favourite joints retaining the old Kolkata charm Iam visiting this resturant for last 40 years. It is still a very cosy joint with very good and authentic food and the service is still very charming. One can try the continental cuisine like prawn cocktail and baked fish.
