One of the iconic vegetarian eatery in Chadni chowk area. Must try their dosa and ice cream. Tried them taste remains same.

Highly disappointed with items like uttapam, pav bhaji and Raj kachori. Sorry to say Other eataries around esplanade area offer better taste.

Service is excellent. Atmosphere is same like earlier days. However Not friendly for elderly/ physically disabled persons due to staircase.

The taste was quite ordinary to my surprise.
1 plate of Chola batura took almost 30mins to be brot to the table although the restaurant was literally empty when we had ordered, they don't serve cold drinks (thumbs up/pepsi/sprite, etc).
They are cramped up for space.

Need to improve the service and taste.

No one to attend the table, no staff to provide extra spoons or refill water, visited with family. Food quality also deteriorated with time. Serving cold foods. Would suggest you to visit some othe place. No menu updates & old same stuffs.

My friend took me there and asked to have dosa, i said something light, we asked the wait what is best here and he replied Dosa, we ordered 2, and it was definitely one of the best dosas ever eaten.i can vouch for it any day, and will definitely be here again soon on my next visit to Kolkata Chandni chowk area.

Horrible food. Onces upon a time this place was the best. As of now horrible. The waiters snap when u ask for anything. One star is the minimum rating. If there was a minus rating I wud have given that. Pizza not available special ice cream not available. Slow service a plate of fried idli took 30 mins to be delivered. Rest is a diff thing.

In one word just amazing for South Indian dish lovers. Liked each and every bit.

The South Indian range of food is good, the pizza is straight waste of money, the uttapam was great.

Last year, my family felt that food quality had degraded with time, but this year I must say food was awesome and service was good. Loved the visit.

I really liked Anand Veg restaurant. We ordered Chole bhatore which cost ₹128. And same price for Pav bhaji. Nice place for lunch. The ambience is also good. The only problem is their service. Once you order it takes a lot of time for them to bring your order. It almost took them around 30 minutes to bring 3 plates chole bhatore. Except that perfect place, the food was really tasty and the ambience is also nice. No music.

All are good but don’t try shakes, they mix water and essence only very bad and its cost is 140.

Much hyped, Dahi Bada and papdi chat was very sweet and upon complain they said this has to be like this. Pathetic food except Dosa

The food quality has been detoriated. The taste is not the same. They are even charging for extra coconut chutney. Though Sambar is free

ANAND SHOULD OPEN MORE BRANCHES OR FRANCHISE IN KOLKATA. SINCE SOUTH INDIAN FOODS ARE IN HUGE DEMAND.

Food standard was acceptable. I think the portions could be more generous in view of the price. Staff were helpful and attentive.
Needs to improve if 4/5 stars are desired.

I have been visiting this place for years. It's a good place for South Indian cuisine

It's a good option for those who are interested in pure vegetarian food. I had a mixed lunch which included Fried Idlis with Curd, Pav Bhaji and a Rava Dosa. Finished off the meal with a lime soda and a paan. All the dishes (baring the paan, which was a bit of a dampner) were good. The service was really quick and the waiters would recommend things which could be served quickly proactively. This makes it a good option if you have a limited time window, but want to avoid street food. The overall pricing was also reasonable.

I have been visiting this restaurant since childhood and dishes like Masala Dosa, Dahi Bada and Chhola Bhatura have been stupendous. But recently I went to this place and the food was horrendous. Literally the quality has degraded immensely.

One of my favorite places for South Indian food. Anand is a very old restaurant, I have been visiting it for more than 15 years now.
The have maintained their food quality and service to be very good year after year.

This is a very safe option if you want to try South Indian food, you can never go wrong with Anand. The chutney served here is one of the best I ever had. The food here is served fresh and made to order.

Didn't find all the menu options especially the north Ind cuisines due to shortage to manpower. However found the same taste and service throughout South Ind cuisines.
Take your parents along and you'll not be dissapointed.

Well known place for good quality South Indian food especially Dosas, Uthappams and Idlis. The service is fast and the food is as good as you can get in Kolkata. The Dosas cone with the standard Sambhar and Coconut chutney but the addition of Kara Chutney would have made it better. Any extra serving of Sambhar or Chutney is chargeable which is bit of a drawback. Otherwise it’s a nice place for a quick South Indian snack. Please note that, this is located at the heart of the city and hence the surroundings are very busy on weekdays. Hence, parking might be difficult.

Taste is delicious. Service is awesome. Rates also reliable according to service. Just one thing hit in mind. Hotel management PROUDLY put an sticker in everywhere that sambhar chatni in South Indian dishes charges extra. Guys you r not firing a cannon. You invested couple of crores rupees for hotel, management, food, service and spoil your dignity just for 2 कौड़ी. Please think twice.

Awesome restaurant. One of the best restaurants I have been. Pure veg resturant and the food is magnificent. Speciality in South Indian dishes and really upto the mark standards. Very courteous stuff and waiters. Plus the food is very reasonable too. If u want to spend some great time with your family and friends and also willing to have South Indian veg food then this this the place.

Poor food quality and price is so expensive, and parking problem also staff behaviour not so good, VERY overpriced food, and quantity food is so bad, so thank twice before going to this place.

YUCK PLACE THAT SUCKS THE DINERS. Had visited on 04.09.21 and seemed like a nightmare. They are charging for every helping of chutney which is very ridiculous considering the quantity the chutney served with the food. The rates are exobairant compared to the quality, quantity and services offered by them. There are many better options available for South indian cuisine worth visiting. COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME & MONEY.

Very poor customer service.rude behaviour.food quality hopeless.ruined it's goodwill. Not at all a place to visit.feeling bad for the owner of the resturant and my self as a customer.

1. Mostly you get 100 types of dosa as on menu card, but all tastes and looks same as either plain or masala dosa
2. Lots of oil
3. Heavy chances of an upset stomach
4. Too much hyped price. The same quality is available at Rs 30 + no gst!

Went to this resturant on a saturday noon for brunch. Ordered 1 masala dosa and 1 plate idly. Taste wise I would say the food was ok. The restaurant was very busy and the staff were giving us vibes that they want people to place their order, eat and leave the restaurant asap which was making me feel uncomfortable. Plus the waiter was literally standing next to our table to take the plates as soon as we finish it. Very unprofessional staff, doesn't knows how the card swiping machine works.

Food quality and taste of Anand is not as good as it was before. Rest.closes @ 8: 30 P. M.for issue of token on Sun. ', Employees are very rude. Explore other options for South Indian Veg Food. Thnx.

Amazing place with amazing South Indian as well as North Indian Dishes.
Very few restaurants can pull off both North & South Indian Dishes so nicely.

Best Dishes - Pav Bhaji, Chola Batura, Cheese Burger and all Dosas.

My only complain is with Pav Bhaji and Chola Batura, Bhaji and Chola were low servings.
And you would need to order extra bhaji and extra chola.the serving size of these two can be improved.

Nice place to taste south indian dishes in Kolkata. Dosa, idly and poori are the ones we have tasted in breakfast section. Veg pulao and Fried price are just ok. The ambience is good.

Nice ambience. But couldn't understand why half of the amount was shown in the bill and half was taken in cash without bill. I suspect some of the employees are not honest. Otherwise food was very good and we are satisfied.

Place was not as much as I thought, hospitality was not good, for food, would like to give 6 out of 10. Very congested place. Facilities for customer is not being provided properly.

I always prefer it for dosa. You have no option of Chinese disc Infact soups are also not available here.
But If you are south Indian dishes lover sure to visit here it is near Chandni Chowk metro at Kolkata.

Good place for taking South Indian foods. The taste is as like in Chennai or Bangalore. Atmosphere is great and always busy with customers. If any one to take right South Indian food like vada and Dosa then this is the right place. No desserts option here.

Anand is my favorite place to eat south indian meal here like dosa whenever i visit to kolkata. Best thing of this place is taste, fast service and nice sitting. This is my second five star rating as a contributor.

Over priced for the food they serve. Hing kachori and chats are very small in quantity but price are high.

They are not what they used to be once. However many staff I see there today have been with them for many years now. But the taste have gone down a bit over the years. Astonishingly they still don't accept any credit, debit or Paytm wallet payment. What cashless economy? Hahaha, that was anyway a lie.

Being a south Indian I expected a bit more from the restaurant in terms of food taste. There are only Tiffins especially wide variety of dosas.

Decent place for a quick bite. Masala Rawa dosa, onion and cheese dosa, idli, curd rice and pau bhaji are some of the must try delicacies. Good ambience but the seating arrangement seems a little clumsy. Go for it if you wish to treat your tastebuds to an authentic Kolkata South Indian meal or if you're looking for vegetarian North Indian cuisine.
