How to reach.
By Train
Belur Math railway station is a terminal railway station of the Kolkata Suburban Railway network, which connects Belur Math, temple and the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, with Howrah via the Eastern main line of Eastern Railway. Howrah Jn is just at a distance of 6km from Belur math Station.

The temple.timings are till 12.00 but don't get fooled. The shoe stand guy tells you collect your shoes before 11.30 otherwise wait till 4.00 pm. All temples close at 11.30 itself.some even before that although everywhere it says close at 12.00 noon. Main temple be ready to wait for atleast 20 minutes if you reach after 11.00.after their bhog they do close the doors.of sanctum. Once Darshan opens the security does not let you do Darshan in peace. I found the location and architecture as well as landscaping beautiful but staff to be rude and unruly.

Belur Math is open from 18 August 2021.

The Belur Math is open to devotees and visitors from 18 August 2021, as per the following schedule:

Morning: 8.00 to 11.00 am
Afternoon: 4.00 to 5.45 pm

Devotees and visitors must produce, at the entry point, a photocopy of the Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate of two doses,  along with any one of the identity cards  (such as Aadhaar/PAN/Voter’s ID)

Alternatively, a Covid Negative Certificate of the test conducted within the last 72 hours should be produced along with any one of the identity cards.

Only those devotees and visitors fulfilling the above conditions will be allowed inside the Belur Math premises.

Belur Math is a must visit place for a person who believes in Swami Vivekananda's ideology.
Construction of Belur Math was started in 1936 to make Swami Vivekananda's dream a reality. It was inaugurated on 14 January 1938. There is a huge worship room inside the temple. There is a white marble statue of Sri Ramakrishna on the altar.
Over time, the Ramakrishna Math and the headquarters of the mission were established here. This institution has occupied an important place in the life of Bengali society as a sacred center for spreading Swami Vivekananda's social thought and spiritual practice. A museum has also been set up here to display the history of Ramakrishna Math and Mission.
Many tourists from abroad come here to see the beauty of this temple in memory of Ramakrishna.

Visit for some peace of mind and praying. Please refrain from littering the area and use the facilities available. The place is very well maintained and the ambience is very calm and soothing. Don't be a jerk and ruin the place for yourself and everyone else.

Great place to visit. Holly place with holly deeds. Everyday the workers there are feeding 5000+ people. Also the place is well maintained and pollution free. There are small temples inside along with the main one. Attraction for photographers, peace seekers, dayouts with family and loved ones.
One can willingly opt for Sewa for a day or half and donations in person or through online means. Also, one can become a member of regular donations. Receipts are provided for the same along with the projects they are working on, also, how they are helping the community with there contributions.
Affordable ways to visit there are - 1. By local train - Belur Math is a station in Howrah local line with good frequencies of trains.
2. By Ferry, within every 10 to 15 minutes they have scheduled ferries for the same.
Small food stalls are available just outside the place for minimal refreshments. Overall a good experience to visit this place.

Belur Math - probably the best place for Peace, Tranquility & Meditation in West Bengal. Outstanding Temple architecture, spacious landscaped campus beside holy Hoogly river. The Temple or Math - Established by Shri Vivekanand Swami in remembrance of Shri Shri Ram Krishna Dev & Shri Sharada Devi; it's the Foundation place of World Famous "Ramkrishna Mission". A place full of peace, which gives peace to the soul. A beautiful quiet place. Four temples, The main temple is the temple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Dev. The temple of Goddess Sarada at Gangapar. Very nice place. Beautiful holy monks like flowers, this life is blessed when they are blessed.

The place is for true peace. Just visit there & awesome experience you'll have in your life. Full of positive vibes; never forgettable experience. But due to the current covid pandemic situation they behaved very rude & also prohibited to sit within the math premises. So apart from that bad, overall I liked very much. Would love to visit once more when everything would be normal.

Beautifully maintained place. Beautiful gardens and ponds surrounding the white marble monument. Some of the sculptures are fabulous.

The gardens open from 0530-6 in the early morning and that seems to be the best time to go nowadays. The sun is up and it's cool.
The entry to the garden is Rs 20 per head.

Toilets inside are well maintained. Lots of trash cans around to help people keep the gardens clean.

The museum opens at 11 am.

This is where you go if you want real peace, serenity and happiness in life. This is where you will know the true meaning and the real goal of life. This is where you will realize (well, hopefully) that YOU are not just the body, a name, a form, some sense organs and mind. YOU are much much more than that! YOU are one with everyone and everything else.

Mere visiting or mere rituals will not help much. You have to understand what the Belur Math stands for. Peel the onion and look below and deep. Immerse yourself in the messages of Vedanta from Sri Ramakrishna (Thakur or Master), Sri Sarada Ma (Holy Mother) and Swami Vivekananda, and many of the other monks (sannyasis) who have lived/breathed in Belur Math.

But the place has been crowded during the major occasion like Durga Puja, Janmotithis of God's.
You will find many different type of people came from different kind of region to enjoy the ambience of Belur Math.
