Bhim Chandra Nag’ sweet shop is located in Mahatma Gandhi Road, Barabazar. They have other branches in Bowbazar and other parts of Kolkata. Bhim Nag has a separate identity in sweets. It’s one of the pioneers sweets makers in Kolkata since more than 125 years.
Sweets are tasty, but very arrogant & unfriendly staff. Even the manager is unsocial. Also they don't have any tie up with any delivery partners, so not convenient to obtain their sweets.
We visited your counter at misti hub on today evening ie 20 Feb 2022 the staff did not told that counter is closed when we wanted to place the order they replied rudely counter closed We do not expect these kind of misbehaviour from your counter staff.
Bhim Nag sweetmeat Main branch is on Nirmal Chandra Street. Its best product can be considered is Kora (Hard) pak Sandesh. This product has a renowned history. Late Sir Asutosh Mukherji the then Vice Chancellor of Calcutta University used to collect & eat a heavy famous amount on his way back home at Bhowanipur. Bhim Nag has so many outlets with their family members. These are added with Son's, Grandson s etc.
Wide varities of BENGALI sweets at a various rates are available here. The sweets are very tasty and delicious. People from various places comes here for sweets. They also take bulk orders.
I have tasted just for once still now. Really they are producing super quality of Sandesh and the taste is really too good I can't explain in language. But as a Bengali and sweet lover I can say 'Osadharon '. Here is my love and well wishes for the entire team of 'Vim Chandra Nag ' may you bless all of us by producing these super quality of sweets. And yes if you people read my review and after that if you come in kolkata Brarabazar please taste it for once I must say you can't forget the love and the taste of Kolkata. #kolkataSweets #loveofkolkatapeople.
I'm a lover of sweets and I love exploring sweet shops. Bhim Naag is famous for its shondesh and jolbhora. Recently I visited the shop. Found the prices extremely high for the size of sweets. The jolbhora was prices at Rs 60 per piece which is way too much. The size was average, taste was sadly average and in the centre there was just some sweetened water with rose syrup. I feel that this shop is running despite unjustified high price purely because of hype. Will not be visiting in the near future.
There are some experiences that remains memorable. I believe for a Bengali stepping into this heritage sweetshop and relishing history at Rs. 20 (or so) a sweet is a remarkable feeling. Their popularity across so many generations is justified because the quality they serve is exceptional.
In the uncanny corner of junction between the Howrah Bridge and MG Road, the historical gem of a show presides. I have heard from some of my seniors that from this certain shop, a special "paradise soondesh" was very dear to Subhas Chandra Bose, the patriot. If you have bulk orders, they will quickly make a fresh batch just for you! Love this place, the quality of sandesh is unparalleled, just melts in your mouth. (Careful, the traffic is busy and the highway is prone to accidents.)
Good sweet shop to grad a snack or a sweet. The sweets are good and affordable. Most importantly, they're fresh. Only downside is that there isn't much of a place to sit and eat.
It is a ok ok type place, sweets were good, but taking more charges. Highly costly place. Not for middle class. It is only for higher class family and above middle class family. This not for us because high cost of sweets but Quality was good for sweet and rossogulla Recommended for everyone if price were less. By the way thank you for the sweet
A great place for sweets and snacks in the busy area of burrabazar. This sweet shop though old.it's really gold. Their Sandesh is a must try if you are a foodie (sweet lover)!
Bhim Chandra Nag or Bhim Nag, whatever you say has been the all time favorite of the people of Kolkata and abroad too. Nothing to mention about the quality. Only thing I would suggest that next time you visit this sweet meat shop please indulge into the Abar Khabo and Dilkhus Sandesh. Ice cream sandesh is also a delight to the taste buds but not available regularly.
A nice place to have authentic bengali sandesh. But 4 star not 5 because of its ambience. Not the clean one though it may not entirely due to the sweet shop but also due to its surroundings. One more thing, you do not get all kind sandesh all the time i.e. Choice is limited little bit compare to the Bowbazar outlet.
One of the popular sweet shops in Kolkata, Bhim Chandra Nag was set up by Paran Chandra Nag in 1826 in Bowbazar. A pioneer in making sandesh, it continues to retain its popularity till date. Today, it is one of the most renowned sweet shops in the city with only two outlets (Nirmal Chandra Street and Vivekananda Road). The sweet shop is known for inventing delicacies such as ladikeni (named after Lady Canning who was the wife of the then British governor Lord Canning) and ashubhog sandesh (named after the distinguished educationist Sir Ashutosh Mukhopadhyay), among others. With changing time, they have also understood the varying taste of customers and have come up with several varieties of sweets. The traditional chhanar sandesh has given way to new kinds of sweets, such as chocolate flavoured, mango flavoured and even sugar-free sandesh. It has also introduced dilkhush, abar khabo, kada pak sandesh, jolbhora, manohara and various other sweets that have impressed the new generation. Do try their Alphonso sandesh—the rich taste of mango will stay in your mouth for hours. Source- Times of India
It is a very famous old sweet shop, situated at the starting of mg Rd from Howrah bridge side. Sweets are delicious and costly. But now a days it is not so popular than earlier.
Authentic Bengali sweets with mouth watering taste and aroma. Sondesh and Roshogulla are the TRP. A bit difficult to find out because it's a small but old shop.but very near to Howrah station. Walking hardly takes 15 minutes from station. Must visit for sweet lovers!
Is it true that Lady Canning wife of the Viceroy was offered a sweet to Lady Canning by owner of this shop. This sweet was named as "LadyCanny" Born in 1817 She came to Calcutta in 1856 and died in 1861 due to Malaria.
They can it one of the oldest sweet shops in the city. It was pretty good. The sweet was undoubtedly great. Unfortunately I couldn't try the rosagulla as it wasn't available. If you are looking for sweets around the area this can be the place. However they didn't seem to have much of a variety but whatever they had was great.
