Authentic Bangal food. Service and ambience was a bit messy but the food more than made up for it!

Food was awesome and the price was reasonable.veg thali 150/- consists of rice, dal, alibhaja, echor, chutney, papad, rosogolla. Additionally vetki paturi - fish quality was fresh, chingri malaicurry - fresh and gravy was tasty, finally mutton - perfect kosha, not very thick gravy, properly boiled, juicy.
Pticewise - paturi -300/-, mutton -220/- (4 pc), chingri -350/- (2 pc). Quick service. Overall highly recommended.

Most average food. Pricing is high compared to the food. Ilish fish and bhetki fish paturi not at all upto standard. Ambience good. Not worth to go such a long distance to have this most ordinary food.

Quality of the food is very good. It's is bit far from main city. You have to call and pre book the food items and timing. But it's totally worth it. Price is reasonable. Service is good. Village atmosphere. Newly started AC seating is also available by paying extra Rs. 10 for each person. Recommend.

First time I went to the borishaler ranna ghar. Atmosphere was so nice. Food quality is too good. The locals women take the initiative. Local women cook and serve the foods. Basically they serve traditional bengali foods. Different thali option tou can choose. In every meal they serve ghee in rice. I really like that. Once you people go for shantiniketan bolpur tour must visit this place.taste of undivided bengal ️️️.

Service is very slow, lacking staff probably. Quality and taste of food is so so. I would recommend Ram Shyam hotel at sonajhuri rather.

Great hospitality awesome food and most importantly all are like home made food with very high quality and unique taste. Mutton curry and the chatni was out of the world.

Only one concern: rice were not properly boiled may be due to rush or something but that is inconvenient. Hope this feedback will be taken by owner.

Not good at all. In one sentence this place is only good in social media posts, in reality it is one of those below average restaurants.

We had visited on weekend, waiting time was about 45mins till we got the table and then another 15mins till we got the food served.
Service was pathetic mainly due to shortage of staffs.
Taste wise average food (Many roadside hotels of Bolpur serve better food than this). Price is extremely high, one 'postor bora' costs Rs. 90, and after first bite you'll realise that the bora contains everything except 'posto'.
This is my first and the last time for sure.

May their quality of food be good but it is difficult to get entry on the same day for lunch. The overall experience is not good.

একদম বেকার, একদম বেকার. ইউটিউব এর রিভিউ দেখে এক্সট্রা গাড়ি ভাড়া করে দুপুরের খাবার খেতে এসেছিলাম, এত্ত বাজে সার্ভিস সাথে অনেক বেশি দাম খাবারের, আর এরকম বাঙালি খাবার রান্না অনেক রেস্টুরেন্টে ই পাওয়া যায়। যেরকম ইউটিউবে দেখায়, সেরকম কিসসু না. এর থেকে অনেক বেশি ভালো কলকাতার "কস্তুরী", "ভজহরি মান্না", "হেঁশেল" এর রান্না আর সার্ভিস। এতো দূরে এসে এরকম একটা অজ গ্রামের মধ্যে হোটেলে একটু শান্তি তে বসে খাবো, এতো বাজে সার্ভিস এদের পুরো খাওয়ার মুড টাই নষ্ট করে দিলো। জীবনে কখনো এদিকে পা মারাবো না, আর আপনাদেরও বলছি ওই ফেসবুক আর ইউটিউব এর অ্যাডভার্টিসমেন্ট দেখে ভুল করেও এখানে আসবেন না ।

A wonderful place to taste authentic homemade Bengali food. Be prepared that nobody speaks English. Service is still very kind

Very long wait. We were traveling with a two year old child. There is no proper toilet and the place is completely mismanaged. Food is average. Better options are available. Please avoid unless your expectations are bare minimum.

It was a terrible experience waitng in queue for 1 hours 45 mins and got food after that. The food was below average and overpriced. Even the food was served in very unhygienic way.we didnt even have clue as to what was to be served next.people were waiting outside and there was huge rush
They took orders by coupon system and it has to be prepaid. We spend appox 1000 per head but the experience was one of the worst in Bolpur.
I wont go there ever again nor do I recommend anybody to waste their time and money there

Horrible experience at this place. We went after watching you tube videos and good reviews, but the management and service quality was poor. We were five of us and our 6 month old baby. There was a long queue and we requested them to accommodate our group in two parts - three together and me and my wife in the second part as the baby was crying. Even after multiple requests, they forced all of us to have the food together. Since the place was stuffy, our child started crying and me and my wife had to leave the food in between to take care of the kid.

Food quality was sub standard. Shukto was served after dal and bhaja. Ghee was served after shukto. Bhetki paturi and mutton were not of good quality. Dhokar dalna was very spicy and without salt. Definitely not value for money. We felt that this place is over hyped.

We went there with 5 members and a 6m infant. We waited for more than 45mins, during this time my baby started crying so on our turn requested them to allow 3 of us and me and my husband will have food later. We were blatantly told that these requests cannot be entertained and we have to eat together. The food we ordered was
Veg Thali - Dal, alu bhaja, sukto, dhokar dalna
Bhetki paturi
Mutton Kasha.
To our surprise the food was horrible. The dal served only had water in it, with no sign of pulses in it. They offered dal and alu bhaja first. Then came ghee and sukto. Bengalis usually have sukto first! They claim paturi to be of bhetki but it was some other fish. The dhokar dalna was the worst of its kind nd immensely hot nd spicey.it was difficult to have it even in small quantity. The mutton was undercooked and rough. The rice used was far from basmati but local ration quality were used.

Overall we could not eat even half of it. The food was horrible, worst of its kind. The staff were rude, unpolite. The place is overly hyped. There are couple of homestay nd resorts just on the same road of this hyped place, which serves amazing dishes.

Please refrain from visiting barishaler rannaghar who runs business with insensitive rude people and horrible, under quality food.

Food is good. Especially the fish preparations. Don't go for mutton as it's overhyped. My recommendation is posto bora which is something really amazing over here.

They need to do something for the dogs as they roam around near the area.

Good quality of food with nice ambience. Bangladeshi cooking style food items are served here. Quality of food items are of good standard. Open only for lunch, dinner is not served here. Recommended for at least one visit.

In veg thali dal was not good, also the sukto was below per.only stand out thing was mutton.so try that if you want

Borishaler Ranna Ghar, Visited with my family in few days back. We booked a table & the lunch (veg thali, mutton thali) had to be ordered in advance. The thali consist of Rice, Dal, Alu Bhaja, Ghee, Chilli, Sukto, Dhokar Dalna, Tomato Chutney, and Fish Curry/ Mutton curry. Overall good, homestyle cooking. Prices decent. Only ladies serve here. Most importantly good staff behaviour. Only thing it need pre booking else need to stand in long waiting. Else this is a great place to have lunch with family if you are visiting Santiniketan.

Fantastic.if you want to try authentic Bengali Thali. The Hilsa (2 pcs per plate) steals the show!

Pathetic experience! We shall never go again. We were forced to take two veg thalis in spite of repeated requesting that we two won’t be able to eat that much. On top of that I don’t take veg food. Fish was good though the cooking style was average. Mutton was so miserable that we couldn’t eat. Our kitchen at home delivers far better quality than this. All the pieces were full of bones and skin fats, inedible at all. Even the veg preparations were not served at full quantity, served only when it was asked for.
We had to sit for half an hour with only rice and daal before we were served with other items, even the veg. Extremely poor management and lack of flexibility ensured that we don’t go back.

The red meat wasn't soft,
the bhapa bhetki was not that tasty.
During summer days there is no proper celing fan to one of the table. Only one cooler.

The place has no appeal except for its village 'rusticness'. But the food is right down finger licking. The rice with ghee and the dal itself were pure joy. Yummm!

Used to be an excellent place, with food quality much better than Bonolakhhi. So much so, that we used to have our consecutive lunches there whenver we were in Santiniketan.
However this time found the quality has gone down appreciably, and hospitality is nowwhere near what used to be. Hope it turns back to be better next time.

If there was an option to rate it higher than 5 star I would have rated that.
The food is extra ordinarily good. The cooking is done by ladies and the management too.

It is an excellent place to have lunch if you are staying in Santiniketan for a couple of days. The place is located in Ramnagar, around 12 kms from Santiniketan near Illambazar. They serve authentic Bengali thalis alongwith mouthwatering fish, mutton and chicken preparations of your choice. Remember that you have to order your meals one day in advance. There is a small boutique shop adjacent to the dining room which sells traditional items of Birbhum. Authentic Bengali Ghee, Patali guur (jaggery), Bori, Honey, Incense sticks are also available.

Things that you'll like:
1. Clean and hygienic environment (tables, cutlery)
2. Well cooked food with unlimited servings on Thali items
3. Not too oily food and not too rich to have
4. Fast and responsive service
5. Similarly priced along with it's peers
6. Homely environment
7. You don't need to prebook to avail food

Things that needs improvement:
1. Hardly anything to mention here. But it's hard to find out, so better direction arrows and billboard would help

Had lunch with my family during our recent trip to shantiniketan. Delicious home cooked food at reasonable price. Had vegetarian thali along with mutton curry and golda chingri malaikari. We also ordered posto bora. The vegetarian thali is very tasty, filling and reasonably priced at Rs120. Service and behaviour of the staff good. We also bought patishapta and gokul pitha for our folks at home.

The food and the ambience was excellent and the staff were polite. Overall experience was very good.

Treat your taste buds with authentic food from Barishal, Bangladesh in this quaint little eatery at shantiniketan. Fantastic food. Awesome ambience. Lacks the pomp of a modern day eatery. It is like having a lunch at home, prepared by mom. That for me is the stand out. The fish are exceptionally well prepared and is freshly cooked. So is the chicken curry. The veg thali is just awesome. You have to order ahead to avail mouth watering dishes at reasonable price. Try out the lonka bata. It's a must.

We ate lunch here. It was a very good experience for group. Homely prepared items (veg and non-veg) and we all liked it.

Taste was good, but not extraordinary. Good environment. Dishes variety limited. I would recommend Sakuntala.
