There is actually no place for needy students, they have no right to learn from there as they can't pay that much amount of courses fees.bad experience, hopeless from British council.

It's a good library, but it is a bit behind the times in important ways. For example, there is a serious shortage of plug points. You will often find people sitting on the floor, or in the Cafe where the few plug points are located. Also wifi is pretty bad, and due to security measures quite difficult to access. If you are trying to get work done here on your laptop you could run into these problems. If you are simply studying for exams out of practice books than none of this will bother you. However, given the high cost of membership you'd expect that they would address these issues, but they dont.

The British council is one of my favourite places as they have such considerable stocks of books, you can find books on every subject. Moreover, the staff, the environment, all are appreciable. They even offer really good courses for different ages, kids to adults.

I have been coming to the British Council since my college days.this place never stops to amaze me.library staff are very helpful.

I was a member of this library from class 8 to class 12, when it was initially on Shakespeare Sarani (now an Axis Bank) and then moved to its current location on Abanindranath Tagore Sarani. I went there again today after 20 years.

Not much has changed.

There is a considerable amount of material on English literature (material taught in English honours university level courses), a lot of English fiction, and several books on the English language.

There is a small section on world history and a small section on mental health and self-help. There are even smaller sections in natural and social sciences, and finance.

There is a young readers' section, which is fairly large.

Newspapers and magazines cannot be borrowed. I spotted Financial Times, Times, Guardian Weekly, The Economist and BBC History among several others.

I could not spot any movie DVDs.

There is no curated, highlighted display, as one finds in bookstores such as Starmark.

There is no parking within the building. One has to find a rare parking space on Abanindranath Tagore Sarani (Camac Street) or in the lane next to Senator Hotel (Victoria Terrace). The parking attendant is likely to charge more than the official rates.

There is no charge for exploring the library's collection. Check it out to see if it suits your needs.

26th march the BC held family carnival for kids and families at their camac streetL&T chambers. Was open for general public, they have made nice arrangements to engage kids dividing them in to different groups over various activities. The idea was probably to promote and campaign the paid membership and eneral awareness on English learning and courses being offered for kids and adults.

Had a good experience. The library has a good selection of books but it lacks books related to Mathematics. It would have been better if they had a few more options to choose from. The online library is better.

Atmosphere is disciplined and congenial for reading. They have several magazines and good collection of books.

The place is very good, well organized, the only problem is their membership amount is too high, they have good collection of books and classes.

My experience with British Council is not from today but it started from the school times when I was a teenager. I have gone through many genres, science, journals, sports, economics, magasins, then the detective collections which grabbed my attention. I am zealous about romantic novels, plays of Shakespeare, the Victorian lit and also novellas from the literature section. There are spoken and the writing classes which one will surely get help. The library ambience is very clean and one can sit silently and read. If one wants to join one can surely access anything they want according to their likes. ️You will surely be benefitted.

Digital library is fraud and to be avoided. Android and iOS app developed by some 3rd party called MyLoft is unsafe to install due to data leakage concerns and I have not bee able to use the web version. Email sent to British Council has remained unanswered for months, effectively swindling my 1 year subscription charges. Shame!

It was nice. I had gone there for a poetry recital and it didn't disappoint. It is clean and kept.
The receptionists were not able to give any proper info for any consultations later.
The price for fees is very high for learners or even the library, which really isn't that impressive because it only houses of the classics and some school and university books, along with the newly published ones.

In my opinion, Good collection of book's. The newly learner, who wants to improve there English. Everything is good and perfect.

Good collection of books, rather a huge quantity to be specific. The negative side is too much of checking at the gate like we r entering foreign land being in kolkata. It is not a Airport after all. Place is neat and clean people cn sit nd read here like a Library. Timing is 9-6.

Nice place and a good library. Most of the books, especially on professional streams are, however, online. The front desk is understaffed, and as one waits for his turn to talk to the library staff, the waste of time can really get on your nerves.

Highly disappointing and incompetent customer support team, they have no idea about kids online. Wasted 9000, they just surviving on their name and past glory. Had pathetic experience, do not enroll if you love your peace.

It's an earnest request to every parent reading this review of mine
Plz don't book any slots (with full advance payment) before confirming well. Specially for summer camps and regular English classes for kids aged within 18.
I wanted to book summer camp classes for my daughter, which they cancelled then post I made the payment thrice they cancelled classes. After they take your money, they r least bothered what is happening with the classes. They made me wait from June till August still no updates, then i decided to cancel and refund my money. Because of them i didn't take my daughter's admission in any other institutions for the English classes.
The management are not even a percent concerned for the entire scenario i experience here.
Instead now for the refund even they r troubling me asking me so many documents which has no relevance coz i paid by credit card. However still i gave them every document they asked for, it's been almost 3 weeks they r just avoiding my calls and making excuses. They haven't paid my money yet, that's why i am writing this review do that other parents doesn't gets trapped in this situation just because of the big name and brand.

The meaning of Library should be consulted with Ram Krishna Mission Library Golpark which is truely peaceful place to study. How people are rating this Library if you really want to see the collection visit RKM library. British council is an absolute nonsense, noisy place where not staff students all talk in a very louder that concentration will break. An absolute waste of money. It's library not a park not having proper infrastructure to call it as Library it's a cafeteria.doesn't deserve any star.

I have just finished a course workplace English yesterday. They provided an excellent supervisor for us, Shamim Shaikh. He taught us how to be confident at our work place. I had a wonderful experience there. Thank You Shamim Sir nd of course British Council

Excellent calm and cool place where you can feel the serene of peace and study your book with full concentration. I love the place
