Bubble Beds - Backpackers Hostel in Kolkata, Budget Accommodation

Stayed at this hostel before leaving abroad for my vacation. Solo. With alot of backpacking travel experience all over India and abroad, Bubble Beds Kolkata did disappoint, hugely. Firstly, while booking my room online, it says " Female Dormitory ". However, on check in, it was a Mixed Dormitory. I had to enter the Male dorm to get inside the Female dorm. Who wouldn't feel cheated. There's a reason why " Female " or " Male " Dormitories are categorized.
Next, on climbing up my bed, another disappointment. Bedsheet dirty, sandy and lots of female long hair in the pillow. Basically, the bed was never cleaned post check out of last guest. I immediately called manager and he said he will send someone. But nobody ever arrived. Again I had to call, and manager says housekeeping staff not available. And after a few words with him he decided to come change the sheets.
Let's put this short:
#CONS-: Female Dormitory is actually a Mixed Dormitory (just a partition in center)
: Room size is definitely suffocating.
: No AC throughout the day, has a fixed time.
: Washroom Dirty, Bed linens Dirty
: No Ventilation in the room.
: Slow Check- in process
: One of the Male helper keeps glaring causing discomfort.
: Hostel inside is gloomy, dark, dusty.
: Only 1 Washroom for so many people outside dorm.

#PROS-: Wifi works fine
: Location is good, accessible.
: Xerox, printing can be done here. Useful
: Manager is not a bad person, it's just the service and management not working professionally with a carefree approach that is definitely not right in any work culture. Alot of training, supervision and customer support and value service is required.
#REMEMBER- We are paying, not staying for free. There should always be a value service in return. We are giving, hence you are earning and running. Introspect and make positive changes sooner before it gets too late. Each customer counts. Thankyou

This was my second time staying in bubbles bed i stayed for 1 week it was wonderful experience
Specially sandipan manager is always very friendly and helpful looking forward to visit next time and they also have very beautiful roof top

I recently had a stay there. My stay in bubble beds was pretty good. The rooms are clean and services are quite good. It's best for the people who want rooms for a short period of time.

Bubble Beds is located in a great area well connected by public transport. Beds are really comfortable. Staffs are helpful. Overall, wonderful stay.

I stay at bubble beds in double beds private room. AC rooms, attach washroom with geyser. Good atmosphere. All people are very hambly.

Bubble beds is the best place to stay for those who want to stay for a limited duration of time. The hospitality here is awesome, the owner is too friendly and he help us a lot to and i found some foreign peoples as well. Come and stay here. It is the best place in kolkata to know the culture and the peoples here.

It is the best staying and budget friendly hostel for Bagpackers. With a good location and accommodations. The staff's behavior is also very friendly and they work smoothly.so it was a value for money experience for me.

We stayed there (5 travellers) for a day time. He charged INR 475 per bed. The room was not at all clean and smells like anything, even the railway bunker beds will provide good service. Not at all recommended. This front desk guy (specs) was showing more attitude since we didn’t speak bangla / Hindi. Bathrooms are the worst part here. Common area was good. Breakfast is 2 slice bed, one cup of coffee. But it’s very near to Metro.

Rooms are like 10*10. He charged additional ₹120 since we asked same room for all of us. Review sucks atlast. Based on reviews and one of the YouTubers (Tranitbites) recommendations we suggest this. But it turns worst

1. Location - Metro, Tram, Bus, Taxi you name it and its there. Location is so convenient that you can catch any mode of transport just by walking for like 2 mins. Any thing you want to eat is available within the reach of like 3 - 4 min. If you are a lazy eater like if you dont want to explore and you can adjust in cheap classic calcutta street style food then you just have to cross the road and you will get at the corner of bachan dhaba. Cheap but absolutely delicious Egg roll, chicken roll, chicken chow, mughlai porota - Khokon Food Centre, an absolute friendly Khokon Da and ever smiling didi who gives an overwhelming smile if you say her thank you (dhonnobaad) which will surely make your day.
Classic Kolkata breakfast Kochuri aar Torkari ba Daal (stuffed fried bread with vegetable stew or lentil stew) just in front of khokon food centre.
A slightly pricey but absolutely delicious biryani and chicken polo at Thala E Waah

And star of the show Denzong kitchen's Chicken Thukpa and Chicken Momos My God! What a taste and the size of the portion is absolutely massive. Its a little far from the hostel like you've to walk for like 15 - 20 mins near Jatin Das Park metro station near Bhawanipore turning but i must tell you its absolutely worth every single penny.

2. Hospitality - You will get a decent bed with Air Conditioner and the bathrooms are well maintained and clean. I've stayed in various hostels around the country but haven't seen any one providing body wash and shampoo in their lavatories so thanks for that bubble beds.

3. Staff - Special thanks to Mr. Sondipan and Rishabh da, they made my experience absolutely wonderful. They are friends, I've never seen a staff behaving like a friend. We were eating together, chatting, we were sharing our stories you will feel like you are sharing room with friends.

4. Conclusion - Its a hostel, its a different culture, you live together with different people you don't know, you interact with them you get along, sometimes you'll get some troublesome people too (that guy from jharkhand, ufff! ‍️), you do your chores yourself you wash utensils, clothes etc.

Its not a hotel that you'll get room services and stuff, hotels are different and hostels are totally different, people need to understand the concept first before enrolling themselves in, all that negative reviews you will see are hotel people, they came here with different expectations and they got disappointed.

In totality it's an experience. Kudos to the person who invented this culture and three cheers to Bubble Beds for maintaining the culture so proficiently.

The staff people were very cooperative and well behaved, the common area is nice and location is superb near to metro station and transport communication to tourist places is amazing

Hostel is good. Location also good. But too much costly. Rs 465. But they provide complimentary breakfast which is fine.

So disgusting rooms, and there is no room service only self service.
Personal single room 650rs per head which is smaller than smaller no facilites Nothin no bathroom attachment water supply problm.
Listen to me - dont go there and dont waste ur mony.better to choose oyo hotels.

Host has a very measure behaviour and helpful. Well maintained cheap stay for travellers. As cons I will only mention one thing specifically that they dont provide lock at the lockers.

The staff dsnt give full information that bathroom is not attached to the room When confronted they say its mentioned in the email sent but i checked the email in front of the manager there nothing was mentioned, when we arrived the AC wasnt cooling and it was literally suffocating inside the room after having a long argument with the owner on call A/C was fixed which i appreciate but as compared to the rooms the charges are way to high there is 0 cleanliness the rooms are in worst condition not at all recommended u can get way better stays in more cheaper price

Cheap place with good rooms. Many facilities available like TV, WiFi and running water all the time.

Got the opportunity to meet really cool people during the durga puja festival. Clean rooms and polite staffs. Wi-Fi is relatively good - around 1Mbps using a VPN. Near to Metro and Bus facility. Fit for budget stays/solo backpackers.

It is a good place for a solo traveller. Clean, Safe, comfortable. As it is a dormitory set up you should expect in that way. They Provide complimentary breakfast also. They have huge common room at top floor with TV and dining set up. A perfect place for a hosteler.

My first Backpackers Hostel experience it was. And I must say I liked it. I'm not going to spend money in hotels anymore. Backpackeers hostel is the best place for solo travellers. Made so many friends and did lot of stuffs.
Also to mention the story of Alok Da and Rishab is beyond imagination.
You can spend the whole night on the rooftop common area.
One can connect with everyone through cooking together or playing some games.
Bubble Beds are definately good but one thing to mention- they should change their AC timing.

I was travelling all alone and was looking for Budget accommodation for a night And I found Bubbles bed to be the best Accommodation with this price and extra+ best facilities. What I found best is the Hotel Manager Mr. Sandipan Biswas to be very helpful with soft voice and ready to help in whichever he can. We don't have to ask for anything, he can Directly know us what help we are looking for. Thank you for your Good Service. Keep on doing the good Job. It’s a budget hostel very safe for girls even the Kalighat metro is just 2mins walking from the place also the staff’s were very nice and humble, very clean place to stay

VERY VERY PATHETIC EXPERIENCE! ঘর অপরিস্কার, গেস্ট চলে যাওয়ার পরে ঘর একবার মোছাই হয়নি। বিছানার চাদর, বালিশের কভার চেঞ্জ করা ছিলনা।
খাটের তলা এবং ছোট্ট আলমারির মধ্যে পুরোনো প্লাস্টিকের বোতল এবং প্রচন্ড মাকড়সার ঝুল ভরতি।
এছাড়াও ঘরের স্পেস ভীষণই ছোটো, অর্থাৎ আপনি যদি নিজের একটু বেশি কমফোর্টের জন্য প্রাইভেট রুম নিতে চান, তাহলে তা একেবারেই ভুল ভাবছেন।

গুগুল ম্যাপে ভালো রেটিং দেখে এই হোস্টেল আমি চয়েস করেছিলাম, কিন্তু সামনে থেকে যা দেখলাম দ্বিতীয়বার এখানে আসবো না।

কর্তৃপক্ষ হয়তো তাদের 'দায়িত্বজ্ঞানের অভাব' ঢাকতে এই রিভিউ 'ফেক' বলতে পারে। তবে চিন্তা নেই, তেমন হলে আমি আমার রিসিপ্ট শো করবো।
কারণ কর্তৃপক্ষকে সন্তুষ্ট করা আমার দায়িত্ব নয়, আপনাদের কিছুটা হলেও সঠিক ধারণা দেওয়াটা আমার খানিকটা দায়িত্ব বলতে পারেন।

আপনারা যদি এখানে আসেনও, চেষ্টা করবেন Room No. 3A বাদ দিয়ে অন্য রুম নিতে। অথবা একটু বাজেট বেশির হোটেলে থাকুন, অনেক আরামে থাকবেন।

I spent nearly 4nights in the backpackers hostel and I neet lot of new people from different places and good environment to stay

I had such a good time here in January 2021. All the covid measures were strictly followed. I and my friend had a very comfortable stay here. We faced no issues. It is very safe and the atmosphere here is friendly. And the fare was totally worth it.

Lovely place to stay while you are on a budget. Place is clean and tidy, the common area is great, rooms are well lit and airy. Will recommend to everyone.

A very beautiful premise with some helpful staff's. Its actually very cheap for budget travelers on bubble beds, Specially if you are with your friends. Grab your bag pack and just be there.

Mr pradeepan was taking care of the hostel. He gave very good which I demanded. I am not bengali but he guided to go all places and very friendly. Location is also in main road. Very good to stay for budget backpackers.

Its a very comfort place to stay. Staffs are well manners and gentle. Clean rooms and clean bathrooms. As for me its the best place to make a part of ur journey.

The worst hostel I have been to. Dull, gloomy, unclean washrooms, the dormitory has bed bugs. I couldn't sleep for an hour. The washrooms give feeling of public toilets where you just want to do your thing and leave immediately. I would never recommend this hostel to anyone. Don't get trapped in their low prices, good location and free breakfast. You will regret spending every minute in this hostel.

Clean room and friendly behavior reception. They provide clean kitchen where whatever you want to make like coffee, shoop, etc. On tarries bubble beds provide common area with TV and sofa if you coming in group this common area is best for nightgames and nighttalks

One of the best in budget hotel near kalighat temple. 500m from red light area. 1 km from Market & WBPSC, Gurdwara & Kalighat Temple. 2km from Tollygunge.

Very good for accommodation. Lowest price than other hotels. Also kitchen available if you want to cook something. But this hostel is always full, to get a seat you have to check it regularly. Very good for low budget backpackers.

Great budget place with fantastic location. Only downside is water is not available 24*7 (though they start the motor if asked).

This hostel is perhaps the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. First off, the location is not ideal whatsoever, you have to take a metro for half hour to get to the main city which is really cramped and hot, it's also in the same building as a preschool and separated into two buildings. Secondly, the beds were rock hard to it was incredibly difficult to sleep on them and you get bitten by mosquitos constantly. Thirdly, the drinking water isn't clean and me and other another person got sick and they kept denying it. Furthermore, the refused to give me my passport until I've paid which is against the law. The workers grabbed me and I had to get the police involved to get my passport back. Awful place, do yourself a favour, don't stay here.

I had a great time in kolkata, and a lot is due to this great place with an amazing friendly stuff, that had patience for every question I had.
The location is great, near the metro and a bus station so you can get easily and efficiently to every location in the city but you are out of the noise center area.
The hostel is in located in a quite environment of a peaceful neighbourhood, with small lakes in front.
With all that said it is also the Cheapest option in kolkata with a great value for money.
Hot water, kitchen facilities for you use, near by floating market restaurants a D street food counters, every thing is near.
In the bottom line this place is defently high recommended and I will come back here next time I'm in kolkata.

The staff were very helpful since the time I arrived, I left my mobile phone in the taxi while coming from the airport and the staff was trying their best to recover it for me which I eventually did. The owner Sankhadeep was extremely helpful in my stay in Kolkata, he even went with me all the way to downtown to sort out my problems which he didn't have to, he even supported me in buying an Indian sim card which can be tricky in India. Overall good experience, very safe and highly recommend this hostel.

You will get the idea what this hostel is like if you have watched the Bollywood movie Queen. There are dormitories available here as per your requirement. You can use their kitchen and refrigerator as if you are at home.

Without any doubt this was my best part in kolkata. Room mates, staffs, service, ambience, location, eveything was beyond my imagination. I would love to come again.

If you feel okay to stay in hostel, this place is perfect! (Better to remind that this is hostel, domitory) Kind and helpful staffs, clean enough. Location is far from main touist place but bus and metro are easily available. Nice place!

There is lack of management.and lack of communication among themselves. Personal room does not have any personal washroom.they commit one and do other. My personal experience is very bad.

Stayed at gala time hostel at the beginning of my trip and the end. I arrived at 1am on my arrival and this was no problem for the accommodating staff who were joyous to greet me. The rooms/beds are immaculately clean and there are always warm friendly faces about for a chat or to step out with and grab a bite. I most definitely recommend a stay with these guys in their nice quiet and clean suburb. For the price, you’ll be mad not too:)

Awesome location, there is a recently opened floating market near the hostel and it's very beautiful. Hostel people were also nice and helpful. Loved staying here.

I enjoyed my stay as it is best suited for backpackers. The location is really nice, adjacent to Patuli lake but little far away from the centre. The staff was really helpful and met really nice people around.

It was a disastrous experience in the hostel. They did not even had arrangement for mosquitoes. I thought I would be left in pieces till the morning and would be completely eaten up by mosquitoes there. I would prefer not stay there even for free. Still if you want to stay there due it's cheap rent, go and buy a mosquito net first before thinking to stay there.
