A great place to shop for handicrafts and handloom textiles from all over India. This place consists of many state emporiums, including that of West Bengal.
Best place for shopping, evening snacks and bong adda, for few youngsters a good place to booze, traditionally a vintage hangout place in the heart of the city
This place is filled with so childhood memories, yes its that old yet has not lost its charm. You will be find some good quality clothing and some even at an affordable price.
Lovely. All time favourite. Have visited after long time, still got the same feelings. Spacious, varieties of collection in an open spacce, which is unique part!
Actually whenever we visit here our college life memories get rejuvenated. The place really retains it's glory in terms of the quality shops of garments since the early 2000. Parking space is a bit smaller obviously.
Good shopping complex in South kolkata. Mainly State emporiums are having their state specific special handicrafts for sale. States like Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Tamilnadu and obviously West Bengal are having shops here.
The big shopping complex has many state govt emporiums, khakdi bhandars, individual shops selling dresses, utilities etc. There are a few restaurants for the shoppers.
For best handloom and traditional dress materials the best market. Also they have state emporiums which has a huge treasure trove of traditional home decor and other materials like bed sheet and bed cover. Usually Sunday closed but they keep open 1 month all Sundays before Durga puja.
An old market, it is a wonderful place to buy traditional stuff, and economic too. The market has a few boutiques too and Handloom shops. The clothes sold are mostly made of handloom material and are equally comfortable to wear.
This place are for gorgeous people and this is what most of the people informed me. I used to visit a lot but I m not happy with the collection (dresses) most of the shop have. Some shop have beautiful collection of home decor items. Youu will get a lots of different stuffs from Kashmir from Kashmir government. There is a khadi store inside the Dakshinapan shopping complex. There are also a huge collection on Rajasthan Items in Rajasthan Emporium. I used to buy a lot of different stuffs from Rajasthan Emporium. You will also get beautiful oxidised jewelleries and have a good collection. There is also a food court area too. Who didn't know about Saree kuthir in Dakshinapan.
Had a very unpleasant experience with the shop at the entrance: Tat Ghar. Refuse to take any responsibility about what they sell. Rather indifferent to complaints. Certainly, I will never visit this shop again.
Various state emporium refreshes us and its a must go for us every time we visit Kolkata. Post COVID a little lack lustered.a thorough overhauling / painting is required. Public utility needs serious attention
I only visited the Biswa Bangla outlet so I can only offer my opinion about it. Rest of the complex looks run down. I guess it is the effect of the lockdown. Biswa Bangla has a treasure of collection of the local handloom and handicraft products. Some of the sarees in the collection are mind blowing and absolutely treasureable I just wish and hope that they would buck up and clean and spruce up the complex before Pujo.
I have been a very old visitor of Dakshinapan, I am writting this review with a heavy weight on my heart. There was once a time when i would have given 5 but now no.
The shopping complex is although ok not so bad but most items are very over priced but overall ok during festivals.
But the Place itself has degraded to a very bad state. People can no more have good time there, guards are very very bad mannered and although orders are given by the police still People lurk around till 9: 00,9: 30 sometimes 10: 00 as they are old people but other public people get as if kicked out from there, as if we have done some crime. In Dhakuria lake also guards ask people to leave after a certain period of time but they do that with politeness and in very rare circumstances get hostile but here it's the opposite.
Vendors who make a living by selling tea and snacks there are not atall given respect and are treated very badly.
Very bad experience, i wish to God, the place once again become like before and people smile and play and have fun there like the Good old days.
Just near the Dakshinapan Shopping Complex there is a foot market of a lot of jewelry with a reasonable price. You can find any design you want at your pocket friendly budget. Different variety of jewelry are available in the market. Its just a minute walk from the complex. Do visit once the market.if you are good at bargaining go for it but i ensure the artist are not going to charge more. Hope it is helpful.
Reasonable price on clothes. Good and ethantic collection. Large area to sit and relax and have fun with friends. Out side you can have some good streat food and oxidised jewelleries.
All kinds of accessories are available here. Especially handicraft products. All types of saris, kurtis, boys Punjabi, junk jewelery are all available in very reasonable price. Home decorating items are available. There are some good food shops.
I love this shopping complex. It is our go- to place when we need to shop ethnic wear and cotton clothes. It has state emporiums of all states. It has a nice tea shop, a small food court. We have been thronging this place since our childhood. The phuchka corner outside the complex is iconic. I still love to visit this market and revive old memories.
Great region for a quick visit pick out buying complex.loved the vicinity very a great deal.there are numerous exquisite shops there, for human beings of each age.beginning from Indian to Western wears.they have a large range of shops inside for women's traditional wears and all of them are awesome. Do visit and fairly advocated.
A shopping complex with huge open space where anybody can move freely. Most of the State's showrooms are under one roof. Varity of designer clothes available as well as traditional handicrafts items.
Place is good for shopping specially for ethnic products.there are many State Govt. Shops where u can buy different state's products.but the price is comparatively high than the normal.
