It's a city centre having beautiful shops and spacious place for passing times. Lot of shops are available here like Glenery's Hope etc.

Heaven on Earth. Every year, I get a chance I visit with my family. Teatoria or golden tips tea bar is superb.

Best place to spend time with children, friends & family. Any one can sit for a long time no disturbance is there.

Darjeeling mall, once built by the British rulers, have became the main attraction of Queen of Hills. It is an emotion for Bengali people since the Era of Satyajit Ray. Many other film makers and composers have focused darjeeling in their creations. There are many shops, horse riding, food stalls and many other options scattered all around the mall. Though it is very crowded during the summer season but winter and rainy season is extremely calm and quaint.

Kolkata to Siliguri, Darjeeling journey from there. A great experience. Train journey is comfortable and safe. Then taxi to Darjeeling. Darjeeling's hill roads and dusty roads are a unique beauty. It is sure to impress people.
A few things to keep in mind during Darjeeling tour: 1. While fixing the hotel, to know whether its environment and water supply is good. 2. Check security first. 3. To make sure that the geyser is fine. 4. It is easy to walk if the hotel is near the mall road. 5. Muslim hotels and halal food will be guaranteed near mosques.
6. When shopping, the price must be fixed. 7. If you decide on a taxi, knowing where you will go, there is less chance of trouble if you decide the price and then travel. If you go around, there will be some problems, you have to overlook it. If you can ignore the trivial things in the midst of so much beauty, the joy of traveling is immeasurable.

Visit Darjeeling and you will find some of the best bakeries. Some of them are centuries old.
Only problem in Darjeeling is the lack of clean toilets in the market and Mall Road area. I haven't seen any dirtiest paid public toilet as it was in Darjeeling area. Specially for women and children, these places spread diseases. You can't stand for a second in those Paid Toilets then think of the condition of free toilets

Very good place for vacation, very good weather and climate, hills station, some historical places, and the amazing view of the mountain kanchanjunga

Amazing, Romantic, Nostalgic! Could have been a Cleaner Place Had the local people were a little bit Sensible by not spitting everywhere they can!

Nice place to hangout. I got nostalgic this time when I stepped into Darjeeling Mall as this was my second visit in Darjeeling after 17 years. The first time I visited with my father and stayed at Chalet Hotel, the only hotel in Darjeeling Mall. Things have changed a lot.

It's the heart of Darjeeling. This is the center tourist spot. Darjeeling Mall is a much beautified place now.

I love this place. This place is always crowded of tourists and local people. I spended many times here.

One Best thing about the Mall road is no shopkeeper present here will bombard you with their goods. You can have a relaxed shopping.

You talk to anybody who had visited Darjeeling and ask about great places in the hill town, the Chowrasta Mall will surely be one thing that will figure in the description. That's true. The Chowrasta or the Mall is the heart of Darjeeling town. Located on top of Nehru Road, this is a nice flat land where tourists and locals come to lounge in the sun, take a seat on one of the many benches along the periphery, and watch the wonderful views of the mountain peaks and valleys all around.

Another thing that you won't miss here.there are lots of young local lads with their ponies offering horse rides to children. Many elderly tourists indulge as well.

So why is the place known as Chowrasta Mall? The word 'Chow' means four and 'rasta' stands for roads. So it essentially means that the Mall is where four roads meet. To be precise, there are few important roads that meet at the Mall, and they are:

1) The busy Nehru Road that comes up from below where all the popular tourist shops are lined up including many Bhutia stalls,
2) The Dr. Zakir Hussain Road that comes in parallel to the Nehru Road through a busy local market area near the Mall, and
3) The famous Mall Road which originates from one side, goes around the Observatory Hill and comes back into the Mall from the other side.

However there are few other narrow lanes that also originate or terminate at the Mall that are not counted as part of the four main roads.

One of the mosr beautiful place to walk in Darjeeling! The Zoo and the shurbarry makes the walk worth more! The observatory hill stands tall with mahakal baba temple and chowrasta offering one of the most scenic view of Himalayas!

Unimpressive. My father said live shows used to happen there but apparently that just happens in December for a music show or something. Glenary's can be accessed through there so that's good.

You get everything from woolen products, chimes, Buddha statues, bags.you name it and you ll find it here. You need to have a good eye for details of the product and need to have mastered the bargaining skills to seal the deal here.

Darjeeling, once the Queen of the hill started showing the fine lines of aging. Too much of commercialisation and unplanned brick structures took away some of the shines. Unless we are reflective about our needs and the relentless urbanisation, the future of the beautiful Queen is bleak. I couldn't even gat a snap without any cable wire. Things brought from China are on display than our local products. On the way a few 'home stays' caught my attention. Actually this is one of the good alternative for the people who are willing to get the real pleasure of being in the hill. This also economically empowers the local people on a larger extent. I hope they will thrive and prosper further and will give a new meaning to tourism.

Main attraction of Darjeeling. In evening it is very nice. Most of the people spend time here with shopping in markets.

Timing is good now. Only a night to spare. Not so clean. No pantry car. IRCTC food supply available.

Beautiful mall of darjeeling is situated at the top of chowk bazar and has multiple entries the best one is through the mall road or nehru road that goes straight up the island of chowk bazar. Many things to see here with heritages like the Das Studio and bakery shops like glenery. You can get a great breakfast and lunch at kavanters caffee which gives a full bird eye view of the chowk bazar region. Enjoy a quite stroll around the observatory hill road for refreshement where you can see the Mahakal Temple also.

A must visit place in Darjeeling. Crowded in the evenings. Spending time, shopping, playing, singing and above all the Oxford Book Store are main attractions. Mahakal temple is also there.

This place is crowded in the morning through the afternoon. But once evening strikes, and the streets get lonely, it's an amazing place to be. You would get an amazing view of Darjeeling town. The hills glow as if it is a den of fireflies. Totally worth spending some quality time either alone or with someone special by your side.

This is a place of nostalgia for me. Just sitting in the benches and viewing the locals, the tourists and the horses as well is quite mesmerizing, with doze of Darjeeling breeze and local tea.

Small market. In my view the cheapest market. Varieties of good quality winter wear items are available at lowest price. The only thing you have to keep in mind that you have to haggard.

Nice place to visit and hang out. That giant screen is an extra entertainment during any sport events. Good for festivals.

Large open space with seating areas and shops around with mountains surrounding the whole place. Nothing gets better than this.

Chill out at this spot with a cup of excellent coffee and doughnut and get involved into some good gossip or adda time with your friends or family.

The children can enjoy playing some game in the open space with no restriction as it's a walking only zone. And for all the dog lovers you can also pet all the cute dogs you can find just loitering around the place, that's an added bonus.

Tourist can also walk around and see the market area and the old church and Mahakal temple located a new steps from the Mall.
Darjelling mall is a place for the both young and old. Enjoy the serenity and get mesmerised by the beauty and feel of the place.

Nice place for shopping. Things are very cheap but not so bad. If you are good enough to find quality things and at bargaining, you will definitely win.

A long path, with stunning view ofthw kanchenjunga. U will find yourself breathless and astounding with joy. A very peaceful surrounding.

This place is quite clean. But maximum of the shops have not opened yet. There is a line of ATM outside, so hopefully there will be no money problem. The multiplex is good.

I'm a frequent visitor of Darjeeling since 1979. Everytime I experienced more and more visitors, coming up of new hotels around the mall area at the cost of scenic beauty. Setting up the hawkers stalls just behind it hasn't added to it's beauty.

The place is a major attraction of Darljeeling with evenings having the tourist walking up and down. The mornings can be started with shakes at the Keventers.

Think Piccadilly Circus when in London, Times Square in New York and The Mall in Darjeeling. The Mall is a tarmaced road that circles the Observatory Hill meeting at Chowrasta like a tie around Darjeeling's neck. The knot that is Chowrasta is decorated with heritage showrooms and a park. For over 100 years, it has been a meeting ground for the young and the old, lovers and haters, locals and tourists alike. During political upheavels, The Mall and Chowrasta turn into Tahiri Square. But now the govt holds meetings and melas of all sorts frequently damaging the character of Chowrasta - a bow tie on the queen of hills.

Nodoubt this a awesome place for all ages. You can get here woollen wears, chicken momo, veg momo, ice cream, toys, wine, hot coffee and incompairable the great darjeeling tea etc. Here you can touch clouds just with yours fingers. If you want you can ride horses. Near mall you can ride the great Mahakal temple. Visitors can go padmaja Naidu zoo and mountaineering institution near the darjeeling mall.

At a distance of 1 km from Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Station, Darjeeling Mall or Chowrasta is located at the heart of Darjeeling town. It is considered as the hub for all type of activities in Darjeeling and also among the best places to visit in Darjeeling.

Located on top of Nehru Road, This flat piece of circular land is the major shopping area and center for commercial activities. In olden days, this was the place where the Europeans came for their evening walks. Today, the locals as well as the tourists come here to lounge and relax. In a clear day, one can also have a magnificent view of the Kanchenjunga from here.

There are benches all along the Mall Road for people to sit and enjoy the views over a cup of Darjeeling tea. Also, there are some of the old and heritage stores lined up and countless vendors selling artifacts, woollens and various figurines along the street. Besides shopping one can also go for a pony ride here. There is also a small open space auditorium here, where local rock bands often host performances. The temple of Mahakal is located on the hill top right at the center of the Mall and Chowrasta.  

Taxis are not allowed in the Mall area. Taxis can only come up to the stand near the junction of Nehru road and Gandhi road, or up to the Windamere hotel on the Mall road from where it would be a shorter and easier walk to the Mall.
