Ekante Cottage

An amazing weekend gateway in the city, right next to Westin Hotel, inside Eco Park. Awesome surrounding with picturesque waterbody. Perfect for family get-together. 2 of the restaurants are inside the cottage complex, with Indian & Chinese cuisines and one Dhaba Ajante is outside the complex.

This is an excellent place for spending leisure time with family or friends. The best part is - this is an island inside the city but emotionally quite far from the city. You will feel like you can see the city just the opposite side of the lake but the city cannot touch you. An elegant escape indeed!

I had an amazing experience at Ekanta Cottage! The resort is a hidden gem, offering a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The cottages are cozy and well-maintained, providing a comfortable stay. The staff is incredibly hospitable and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. If you're looking for a tranquil getaway, Ekanta Cottage is the perfect choice.

Rooms could've been cleaner. There was dust on the sofa, tables, chairs etc. There was a lizard inside the washroom as well and the cap of ye basin tap kept coming out. Hot water wasn't coming out of the wash basin. Also the shower didn't work well. Aprt from these service and overall experience was pretty good.

Rooms are just beside the lake in the island
There are cottages inside which aren't just by the side of lake.
There is a Bamboo made sitting place by the lake. If you are sitting there with ur loved one is a out-of-the-world feeling.
For getting in the island there is a long bamboo bridge. There is also a floating cafe and a normal resturant.
You will enjoy the lights coming from the sides of lake and floting cruise
But it's a bit costly.

I was trying for months to get this booked. Finally got one.cost per room is Rsbl 4610 night which might look little expensive but it's the cost of the ambience you get for staying inside Eco park.
All the cottages have a fantastic view of the surrounding water body and the Biswa Bangla Sarani after that. This place is undoubtedly one of the best options for a weekend staycation for the city people and a good weekend destination as well for people living outside the City of Joy. Wonderful atmosphere, cool breeze, serene and calm environment and loads of greenery and fresh air to breathe. What else do you need to refresh your mind and soul after five strenuous weekdays of hard work!

Went there to attend a marriage. It was quite an experience. It's an artificial island surrounded by a lake.

Wonderful place. This place becomes more beautiful after the sunset. Perfect destination for a romantic stay.

Location is great, rooms are not! If you’re planning a comfortable weekend with the family, I will not recommend. The interiors and amenities are not up to the mark but the worst is the bathroom! With it’s Leaky pipes, stained towels, run of mill sanitary ware and fittings, it simply doesn’t fit with the rest.
But if you’re planning a day trip or a weekend with friends (BYOB), it’s a good choice but overpriced.
The Bengali & North Indian restaurant is nice. Food is tasty and with the view, makes for a good experience.

All though foods are expensive, the view and experience you will get is amazing and worth for money

The only problem I faced is that the distance is a Lil too far and the intercom is not working.

Worst service that one can get. In fact they should be the definition of the worst service.
We ordered lunch at 1: 10 and was told that we will be served in 15-20mins. When we called after 40mins they said it's ready, kept waiting and kept calling after every 10mins. Finally the food arrived at 2: 35pm. The balcony table was missing, there was no tea kit and kettle. For every single thing we had to call several times and keep waiting for it. In fact initially we thought may be they do not have a tea kit and table. When I checked Make My Trip, we realised that they were supposed to be there. The whole day went only in calling and getting things.
Another very important thing if you are a family or a couple. Every cottage has two separate single room cottage with a joined deck. In the evening we realized that next to ours, an elderly man in inappropriate clothing was sitting with a girl. These things do happen and people do book rooms for such activity but hotels and resorts generally do not keep married couples or family next to such people.
Regular Kinley bottles with MRP 20 are charged at Rs. 35.

Really appreciative location to stay. You can relax your weekend after a stressful time. At midnight you can feel cold breeze and open sky where u can spend some time but do take mosquito repellent as there will be some because of greenery. Food was awesome and tasty but with limited options. I really enjoyed my stay.

It is basically island in the bigger lake / pond of eco-park. This island is connected to mainland through a wooden bridge. There is a restaurant for normal meals and another one (In ship form) for Chineese items. Few nice cottages are there for night stay which may be booked through WB Gov website.

Room was spacious, and location is absolutely stunning, but the service and food is below par, specially in comparison to the tarrifs they charge. Getting in and getting out of the cottage is the most tedious part. Taps are broken.

I am a resident of Kolkata. I went for a staycation with my wife and child at the Ekante Cottages (Eco Park Kolkata). Our observations after staying for 2 nights at Ekante Cottages (1st Oct to 3rd Oct 2022).

*Pros*

2. Ambiance is excellent.
3. Rooms are spacious and we'll furnished.
4. Staff have a friendly appearance.
5. Extra towel and tea cup provided for my child on request.

*Cons*

1. Very expensive. My total expenses were about 20K for 2 nights including tariff, food and taxes. Almost like a 5 star property.

2. At this price point the quality of service is far below expectation.

In my experience even some 3 star, 4 star properties in other cities have far better quality of service.

3. They don't have any wheelchair for people with special needs.

4. Pets not allowed.

5. The Indian restaurant has a seating capacity of about 60 - 70 people. But the buffet breakfast area is very small.

6. Same Breakfast menu is repeated every day without any variety and choice. You will get sausages but no bread and condiments. You must have the sausage with the luchi.

7. Food is again high price and without much choice (which you can easily expect at any decent restaurant in Kolkata). You will get tandoori chicken but not tandoori roti. They don't serve fresh-lime-soda or any other mocktail. Only serve Coke and Sprite.

8. The men's washroom in the restaurant smells of days and days of urine. No regular cleaning. Quite unhealthy. Absolute yuck,

9. Many things inside the cottage don't work properly:

a) Electronic automatic door lock is available but doesn't work. Have to use manual keys.b) Intercom sometimes works.other times doesn't. It stopped working from 1st Oct evening till 2nd Oct afternoon. You have to use an alternate mobile no.to call for any service or help.c) Room service is very slow to respond. And they try to find excuses for not providing any room service.
You may sometimes need to persuade them to provide room service, even if someone is not well or physically difficult to walk to the restaurant.d) When they provide food inside the room they don't provide any serving spoon. You have to separately request for serving spoons to serve food inside the room. If you forget then you need to use eating spoon and forks to serve food to others.e) Electric tea kettle is available. But not enough tea or coffee sachets for the guests to have during the whole day. They always attempt to economise by providing less quantity. They can provide sugar-free sachets. But did not provide even after multiple requests.f) Some shelves in the wardrobe in the room are loose/ broken.g) Calling bell doesn't work.h) Some lights don't work.i) The geyser in the bathroom doesn't seem to work even after running for about 15min.j) There is a glass shower cubicle inside the bathroom. But the when you take bath inside, the bathroom floor outside the cubicle gets flooded.

I have visited most of the 5 star properties of Kolkata but this is exceptionally good.

Very Nice Atmosphere, well planned and maintained.

Every one should visit once for a peaceful experience in silence.

But one thing which I would like to suggest that they should provide the toiletries as well because it is very essential and almost every 4 or 5 star property use to provide the same.

Ekante cottage is a bliss amongst the city chores, a zenith of luxury and one stop destination for spending time with your loved ones. This picturesque landscape gives you a calming effect to your mind to escape the city hustle, rooms are equipped with wifi connectivity and polite service providers. Only drawback is restricted option of food, you can only have food from the floating resturant (chienese) or regular resturant (Indian and tandur) and that too is pricey compared to the quality and portions. Hope they will be open to food options soon.

Room and food was good… if you consider the amount they charge for booking, then service was way below average… you wont get anyone at the reception before 10am atleast.very unprofessional

I had stayed recently in cottage for a day and it must be adore the beautiful and splendid located to middle of lake like pier. There is lot to see in day and completely feel different Kolkata as I know. I recommend the stay and food service is fast. The restaurant wait is bit on weekends.

Leaky flush, unclean toilets and stained linen - overall low levels of cleanliness and low standards of hygiene were everywhere. When we arrived at the cottage, there were bottles of liquor and other litter in the lawn which we had to ask to remove.

It rained heavily during our stay and water seeped in through a closed door and went across the room and under the bed.

Furniture had a lot of water damage.

There is a ferry/boat between the island and the park outside and it did not run while it was raining leaving us getting drenched on the other side of the water, waiting to get back to the cottages.

The cottages are not wheelchair accessible and this is not mentioned anywhere in the brochures or website. Was challenging for my grandma to manage the tall steps.

Bengali music (Robindroshongeet) was blared on the loudspeakers in the evening in the common areas/lawns. Although it cant be heard very loudly inside the cottages.

However everything I write here is not according to local standards of the area. Most people here think it's a good place.

The room service is ok. But they took 1 hour to serve breakfast after we asked for it. It was complicated - in general not so recommended.
