The CISF guard the area well, but despite being written in the rules that no dogs or beasts should enter the area I observed that street dogs were roaming around inside when human beings are made to take off their shoes before entering.

Don't expect anything big as the name suggest. It's a natural, green area, good for spending time far away from the noise polluted place

A below average place with restrictions. It's a ghat of the Ganges but they don't allow you to get down in the water. Also Photography is banned.

Visiting Kolkata's Gandhi Ghat was a truly enchanting experience that left an indelible mark on my heart. The ghat, named after the venerable Mahatma Gandhi, stands as a serene and contemplative place along the banks of the Hooghly River.

Upon arriving at Gandhi Ghat, I was immediately struck by its tranquility. The gentle rustling of the river, the soft breeze carrying the faint scent of flowers, and the overall sense of serenity offered a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. This oasis of calmness provides a perfect backdrop for quiet reflection and introspection.

The architecture of the ghat is a testament to Kolkata's rich history and cultural heritage. The traditional design, adorned with intricate carvings and ornate detailing, adds an air of grandeur to the surroundings. As I strolled along the ghat, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of connection to the city's past, as well as to the great leader Mahatma Gandhi, who advocated for peace, nonviolence, and unity.

One of the most captivating aspects of the Gandhi Ghat is its role as a meeting point for people from all walks of life. Locals and visitors alike gather here to pay their respects, meditate, and enjoy the stunning views of the river. It's a harmonious blend of culture and community, a place where diversity is celebrated and shared.

The ghat's strategic location along the Hooghly River also makes it an ideal spot to witness breathtaking sunsets. I was fortunate enough to witness the sun dipping below the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow across the water. The sight was nothing short of mesmerizing, a serene and awe-inspiring spectacle that filled me with a sense of wonder.

What truly sets Gandhi Ghat apart is the sense of reverence that permeates the atmosphere. This isn't just a tourist attraction; it's a place of deep meaning and significance. The peaceful ambiance encourages introspection, allowing visitors to contemplate the values of simplicity, harmony, and social change that Gandhi espoused.

In conclusion, my visit to Kolkata's Gandhi Ghat was an experience I will forever cherish. The ghat's tranquil beauty, rich historical significance, and cultural relevance make it a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists. Whether you're seeking a moment of quiet reflection or a chance to immerse yourself in Kolkata's heritage, Gandhi Ghat offers a soul-stirring journey that will leave you feeling enriched and inspired.

When you are feeling overwhelmed with life, you can just come here for a while to get some peace and clarity in mind. Quiet and peaceful environment.

Peaceful and coherent place to visit in Barrackpur but the ghat is actually closed all the time. Two policemen are engaged to watch over it who often sit there, made this place quite uncomfortable.

Parking and eating is also prohibited there.

It is a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi on the banks of the Hoogly river. The Gandhi Ghat of Barrackpore (Kolkata) is orchestrated on the east bank of Hooghly River (generally called River Ganga).

The monument at the bank of River Ganga was inaugurated by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru in the Memory of Mahatma Gandhi. The place is full of greeneries & it provides a picturesque view of Ganga from here. Although it's a great place for photography but it's prohibited inside the area of the monument.

The scenic view is amazing and totally secured. But the problem is there is no option for toilets and drinking water near around. Otherwise you can sit and enjoy your evening with beautiful view of the ganga river.
