Garhpanchkot WBFDC Nature Resort

Location of the rest house is supurb. Ambience is also very good. Very cooperative behavior of all staffs. Food price is too high in comparison to quality and quantity

It is a tranquil place, amidst nature, located just at the foothills of Eastern ghat and Chhotanagpur plateau (which start from here). The food was great - fresh and served hot (chilli chicken / chilli paneer and fried rice was simple, but great). Overall service, and staff behaviour, are also quite good, but there is no room service (except for the evening snacks) for food. Also you get some good quality organic product (e.g, Sundarban honey, etc.). There are several sight-seeing places nearby - the famous Garhpanchkot temple, Panchet and Mithon dams, Telkupi ancient-era (dilapidated) Jain temples (highly recommended), Baranti lake, Biharinath hill (highly recommended) - all are 1/2 to 1.5 hr journey. We visited the place in the end of October, when the weather was just perfect.

Excellent experience. Location, accommodation, facilities (Premium room) - all were very good. ONLY miss was lack of WIFI. Would be wrong, if I do not mention about " Bon Suraksha Committee " run canteen. Good food at very reasonable cost. They served with care & smiling face. Staff also were very helpful & co-operative. Overall - a fantastic place to unwind.
However, WBFDC must provide a rack in front of the basin and put a partition between shower & commode for Super Delux rooms.

Room condition is excellent, bed is excellent, toilet is super. Hotel service is no doubt best. Hill Panchet is approachable. Different types of trees and animals are available in jungle. Overall score is 10/10.

Garhpanchkot is a complete tourist spot. It's have a unique forest, lovely hills, dam orinented lake and marvellous 500 year old ancient ruins and temple which are main attraction of Garhpanchkot. WBFDC Eco Resort is a superb for it's location, room and service. It's a true sense of Eco Resort.

বাজেট এর মধ্যে সুন্দর থাকার জায়গা। ক্যান্টিন এ বাড়ির রান্নার মতন খাবার পাওয়া যায়। সাজানো গোছানো বিশাল জায়গা নিয়ে রিসোর্ট টি গড়ে উঠেছে। বিভিন্ন ফল, ফুল, ভেষজ গাছে ঘেরা।

Location is very good, accommodation is also good but the food and service is not up to the mark

We were offered 2 rooms. 1was good, 2nd was above the reception was very very bad. Bed size for that room 5*7ft.

Canteen service was not upto the mark. Food quality was good. But unfortunately the service is very bad. They are not able to serve lunch before 13: 30 hrs and breakfast before 09: 00. Inspite of repetitive follow up we were served breakfast after 09: 30 am (at the canteen).

Absolutely amazing place amidst nature. We stayed there in a super deluxe room. The room was surprisingly clean, well furnished and spacious enough with a capacious bathroom. The property was well maintained.
Food was good, but options are limited and it is quite justified considering its location. Actually it is a canteen, not a restaurant, which is run by local people of neighbouring villages.

Loved the location and ambience of the resort. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Adequate parking space. Food quality is good and quantity adequate. The staffs are very well behaved and co-operative. Overall nice experience.

Rooms are small, but most importantly very bad service. Like they do not provide complementary mineral water, no toiletries. Location is very beautiful, in the lap of nature, surrounded by hill, but that's it. Food is also very very limited. Breakfast is not included. They cannot provide breakfast before 9 or 9.30 in the morning. Better stay at nearby private resorts.

Beautiful location. Rooms are quite comfy and clean. Food is also good. Worth staying. Only problem is the convenience. U don't get any mode of transport for transfers & sight-seeing and same is not helped by the resort people.

Our 2 nights stay in this resort was very enjoyable. It is such a calm, serene experience, nestled in the forested foothills of Garh Panchkot mountain. The only word that came to our minds every passing second was NATURE! Colorful birds were singing, the greenery was everywhere, the air was pollution-free.

We booked the Super Deluxe rooms and they were well maintained and smartly furnished. There was a spacious attached balcony where one can sit, sip tea and introspect amidst the natural beauty of the place. Room service is great. They deliver tea, snacks and water directly to your rooms.

The food in the restaurant is tasty. Be sure to place your order several hours in advance, as they prepare the food on site and the markets are quite far from the place.

The nights are the most interesting part of the resort. The resort itself is very well lit and there are even charming LED light decorations amidst the hedges. The call of the night animals, the sheer darkness all around the outside of the resort, the immediate drop in temperatures after sunset, is really worth experiencing.

In the midst of nature. Quiet, crowd less place, where someone can stay, far from city life.

If you compare this one with other WBFDC natural resorts found in various points of our state then you will be disappointed. Food is not good at all. Condition of room is not also up to the mark

Place with an amazing ambience. Well maintained for the rooms and the surroundings. Loved the place.
For the canteen and food service: can be much better as compared to the above mentioned factors.

Just amaizing govt resort in midst of the forest and just below the hill. Just behind the resort there is a gate which leads you to the Treck to the Garpanchakot hill top through the forest. Food is good, need to be ordered a bit early. Room service is there, they provide evining snacks like chicken pakora, finger chips etc. Lots of parking place. Overall just Amaizing. I gave the picture taken when I was climbing the hill behind the resort.

If you are at Garpanchkot, stay here amongst nature, at the foothills. Property with better amenities may be there but not the forest and hills.

Very bad experience. Stayed at Yellow Pansy in 1st week of December. Room condition is very poor. Toilet is horrible. Requested Manager to change the room but he did not change the room though vacant rooms were available. Location is very good.

Cheap and best. Great ambience. On the lap of nature. Service and staff are well mannered. Food is nice but little costly. Ask for thali. You will love it. Before ordering get to see the menu card in my photos in the review. It will help you decide better.

Nice peaceful place in the lap of nature. Large compound with well maintained greenary. Rooms are also well maintained with cordial staff. However food taste and variety shpuld be inproved to make it a 5 start location to stay.

23 rooms 7-8 cottages.
Campus is big and we'll maintained but our experience with the rooms were not so good. The forest department doesn't take any initiate for it's rooms and service.
The canteen is ok and food quality is below average.
The only USP is that cottage is has a very big campus on the foothills of a mountain

It's awesome. From Asansol one hour by car. Foods are very tasty. Beautiful location and in the lap of nature. The rooms are good with AC and 24 hours hot water. Room service is not available. Check inn 12pm and check out 10am. Someone coming from Howrah station best is Poorva express, get down at Asansol at 11am and reach resort by car at 12pm. You can book any car @1000 from Asansol station. From hotel you can book Sumo/Bolero for local site seeing @1500.

Place was awesome, in forest area. Cost is little bit on the higher side compared to local resorrs nearby, but it's totally acceptable.
Food is good and clean, but service is slow. Rooms are large and we'll decorated, cleanliness is top notch.

This is a lovely place to getaway on the weekends from Kolkata. The WBFDC resort is the best place to stay with the most reasonable tariff. The food quality here is also very good and very cheap.

Place is really nice and well maintained. Food is well and homely, and need to be ordered early.price of of food is not high also. The main attraction is the beautiful flavour of forest which you will get inside the resort. Panchet hill is just behind the resort. Quality of the rooms can be little bit better compared to the price. Panchet dam will come in the way to garpanchkot.
If you are travelling by means of your own car then it will be very straight forward, 1 hour driving distance from assansol. If you are travelling by means s of public transport, then also it is not a problem.

Differeent ways to reach garpanchkot are

1.reach kumardubi or barakar station by Black diamond Express, which leaves from howrah station at 6-15am. From kumardubi or barakar simply hire an auto upto garpanchkot, you need to bargain a little.no other means of public transport. From both barakar and kumardubi, garpanchkot is more or less equidistant.
2. If you cannot avail this, reach somehow assansol, by a Volvo bus or other wbtc buses, or by some other train. From assansol you can hire a cab, or if you are budget travellers, you can take minibus upto barakar, and then take an auto.

Very good location and decent pricing, but have to book two months ago though. Nice view of the hill.

In one word.excellent. Decent environment, best for photography, good food and ideal for 2-3 days vacation. To visit that place U have to book online first!

It's a lovely place to chill out amidst nature. The rooms are decent and the ambience is just too good!

A great place for a quick getaway in the quiet surroundings. One can unwind amidst forests and hills. Go for walks, enjoy the amazing bird population, discover the old relics of the days past and the fascinating scents of the forest.
The food is homely and cheap, though it could do with some improvement in the menu and the service.
All the amenities will not be available, either in the premises or in the vicinity, therefore it is advisable to carry them with you, particularly your prescription medications.
All in all its a great place to stay.

What a splendid experience with the resort. The resort is huge. The location is the best. Greenery all around. Rooms were well maintained with all basic amenities. There is park for the kidsFood is good. The only thing being order needs to be placed from before.don't miss out the night stroll within the premises perfect place for a weekend getaway.
