Very good historical place. Ticket price offline is ₹25/adult person. If you buy through UPI then it costs only ₹20/adult person. Here in Murshidabad you can also travel to various historical places like Motijhil, Jagat Seth's house, Mirjafar's tomb, SirajUddoula's tomb etc. Just 4-5 hours journey through train line from Kolkata/sealdah. Wonderful collection of artifacts. It is located in the Kila Nizamat Campus of WEST Bengal. The architect of the palace is Duncan Mc Leod. Now, the palace is under the custody of Archaeological Survey of India. Friday closed.

I visited this place a while back and it still mesmerized me to its core. The illusion of thousand doors and the real doors was just mesmerizing. The photography was not permitted inside but we could take pictures from outside.

THE BEAUTIFUL STRUCTURE OF 1MAMBARA WHICH CAME UP LATER IN 1847 DURING THE REIGN OF NAWAB NAZIM FERADUN JAH IS LOCATED ON THE NORTHERN SIDE OF HAZARDUARI PALACE.

The enclosure where the palace is situated is known as Kila Nizamat or Nizamat Kila. The campus except this palace, has in addition the Nizamat Imambara,  Wasif Manzil, the Bachhawali Tope,  Murshidabad Clock Tower, three mosques out of which one is the Madina Mosque, and the Nawab Bahadur's Institution. Other buildings include residential quarters. It is situated on the east bank of the Bhagirathi River, which flows just beside it. The gap between the Bhagirathi's banks and the palace is just 40 feet (12 m) ; however, the foundations are laid very deep, which protect the palace. The palace is rectangular in plan (130 meters long and 61 meters broad) and is a good example of Indo-European architecture. The front facade of the palace, which has the grand staircase, faces north. This staircase is perhaps the biggest one in India.

Nice place for spending holidays. Undoubtedly a good archeological site. It tells a lot about the Nawabi-British period of Bengal. You can take help of guides, available here. Ticket can be availed online at the entrance gate (when I went, offline tickets were not available).

ভারতের পশ্চিমবঙ্গ প্রদেশের মুর্শিদাবাদ জেলায় অবস্থিত একটি রাজপ্রাসাদ ও সংগ্রহশালা। এই প্রাসাদে 1000 টি দরজা আছে ৷ তার থেকেই প্রাসাদের এই নামকরণ হয়েছে 'হাজারদুয়ারি'৷ অবশ্য সব দরজা সত্য নয়, অনেক নকল দরজাও (100টি) রয়েছে। যদিও আসলের আদলেই নকল দরজাগুলো নির্মিত।

১৭শ শতাব্দী থেকে ইংরেজ শাসনের আগে পর্যন্ত সুবা বাংলা, বিহার ও ওড়িষার রাজধানী ছিল মুর্শিদাবাদ শহর ৷ এখানে রাজত্ব করতেন নবাবরা ৷ এখানকার নবাব হুমায়ুন জা ইউরোপিয় স্থপতি দিয়ে এই প্রাসাদ বানান ৷ অনেকে ভুল করে ভাবেন যে, এই প্রাসাদ বুঝি নবাব সিরাজউদ্দৌলার দৌলার তৈরি। এই প্রাসাদ তৈরী হয় সিরাজ জমানার পরে। সিরাজের প্রাসাদের নাম ছিল হীরা ঝিল প্রাসাদ ৷ তা এখন ভাগীরথী নদীতে তলিয়ে গেছে ৷

সংগ্রহশালায় বহু অস্ত্র সজ্জিত আছে, এগুলো পলাশীযুদ্ধে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছিল বলে মনে করা হয়। এতে যেমন সংরক্ষিত আছে নবাব আলীবর্দী’র ব্যবহৃত তলোয়ার, বহুনল বিশিষ্ট বন্দুক তেমনি আছে নাদির শাহ বা মীর কাশেমের ছোরা, অস্ত্র ও বিভিন্ন আকারের কামান। দ্বিতল ও ত্রিতলায় রয়েছে ‘আর্ট গ্যালারী ও লাইব্রেরী’। আর্ট গ্যালারীতে বিশ্ববিখ্যাত বিভিন্ন চিত্রশিল্পী'র চিত্রকলা।লাইব্রেরী কক্ষে ছোট বড় আকারের অসংখ্য চুক্তিপত্র, নাটক, নভেল, তাম্রলিপি, দলিল দস্তাবেজ, ইতিহাস সহ দেশি-বিদেশী বিভিন্ন বইপত্র।
শুক্রবার সংগ্রহশালা বন্ধ থাকে।

From my childhood I read about Nawab Sirajuddaula, Murshidabad and Hazarduari in the pages of the book and when I went to see them with my own eyes, I was just fascinated to find the similarities between those histories. Really very fascinating place. I want to go there again and again whenever I have time. I can't forget those memories.

Literally, when you stand in front of the Hazarduari place with a calm and composed mind, you will slowly slipping in the quicksand of time of the Nawabs of the Bengal. Remember, although Siraj-ud-daullah was one of the most prominent nawab of Bengal, Hazarduari was not built by him. It was built by Nawab Nazim Humayun Jah, commencing on 1829 (Siraj died in 1757). As the name bears, there are thousand doors, 900 of which are false. This palace was once the durbar of the Nawabs of Bengal-Bihar-Orissa. Now it has been converted into a museum. The museum hosts a large array of armory, paintings, crockery etc. This palace is the main attraction while visiting Murshidabad.

This place is huge from the outside and if you visit inside it will seem bigger. Just as the name suggests, this place is supposed to have a 1000 doors. Though legend has it that the real building was half broken due to a huge flood, the building was still restored to the exact atom. Nearby rail station is murshidabad rail station. In front of this palace, nizamat imambara present which is an another important glorious place to visit.

​বাইরে থেকে ও ভিতর থেকে হাজারদুয়ারিতে অনেক দরজা দৃশ্যমান হলেও এর মধ্যে অনেক দরজাই আদপে নকল । অথচ দূর থেকে পুরোপুরি আসল বলে মনে হয়। হাজারদুয়ারির চমক শুধু তার দুয়ারেই না, ঘরগুলোও মনোমুগ্ধকর। ভারতের পশ্চিমবঙ্গ প্রদেশের মুর্শিদাবাদে অবস্থিত একটি রাজপ্রাসাদ।এই প্রাসাদে অনেক দরজা আছে ৷ তার থেকেই প্রাসাদের এই নামকরণ হয়েছে ৷ অবশ্য সব দরজা সত্য নয়, অনেক নকল দরজাও রয়েছে ।

Place is beautiful but there haven’t any tree or shadow area near by. At the time of noon, there is very high temperature.

The imambara is open only during muharram. Please avoid taking service from any guide atleast bargain a lot as there isn't much to know from guide. The entire palace or museum is closed on friday every month. The place is under Archeological Survey of India. I've visited on the last week of December & there was a huge crowd.

Hazarduari palace have many doors and windows. Among them have so many imitations. Nawab Nazim Humayunza has established this palace with the help ofLord William Cavendis in1829. Duncun Maclied was the planner. There are weapons room, record room and office room in the ground floor. In the 1st floor there are art gallaries and valuable things. It remains closed on Friday.

We can see there short guns, armours, various warrior dresses, female costumes, show pieces, community hall of British era in india. But we can't take picture of that as it is restricted

This is a historical place. It is situated on the bank of the holy river Ganges. It is the famous palace of Bengal's Nawab Humayun Ja. It is called Hazarduari because of its many doors (probably many hundreds; hazar-thousand/lots;duari-with door). Although many doors are duplicate, imitation of the original doors. They are mere the excellent arts of the mason resemble the originals. So that no unwanted person could enter the palce or could easily get out of it doing some offence. There are lots and lots of historical elements of that era which may help the researchers. Some tourists mess it up with the palace of Nawab Siraj-ud-doula. But it is nothing of Nawab Siraj. More over this soothing place can easily be a very good place for educational tour as well as for spending weekend.

Hazarduari Palace complex has interesting heritage buildings and artefacts. The heritage buildings are: Nizamat Imambara, Clock Tower, also called the Big Ben of Murshidabad, Madina Mosue, Biggest flight of stairs leading to the palace, and Bacchawali Tope. There is a museum within the palace which has several galleries housing precious 2700 collections including British, Indian and Dutch relics.
Don’t miss the crystal chandelier in the Durbar Hall of the palace. Also watch out for two pairs of mirrors in the museum placed at an angle of 90 degrees in such a way that one cannot see one’s own face but others can see. In reality there are actually 900 real doors. Remaining 100 fake doors were built to mislead the enemy attackers.

Earlier known as Bara Kothi, the Hazarduari Palace has a total of 1000 doors, out of which 100 are false. They were built this way so that in the event that an unwelcome figure enters the premises, they would be confused with the sheer number of doors, true and false, that the guards could catch up before they escaped. The Madina Mosque, Nizamat Imambara and Bachchawali Tope are a part of the palace. The Imambara is supposed to be the largest ever built. The wooden structure that was constructed by Siraj-ud-Daula burned down once in a fire in 1846 and was reconstructed in 1848 by Nawab Nazim Feradun Jah. The Madina Mosque is open to the public only during the month of Ramadan, while the Bachchawali Tope is said to have made a noise so loud when the canon was fired that expectant mothers were forced to give birth. Today, the palace has been converted into a museum that houses precious artefacts from priceless collections belonging to the Nawabs. These include paintings, furniture, antiques, the famous mirrors and a chandelier. The mirrors are said to be placed at angles from where one cannot see their own faces but others around them can.

We went to Hazarduari Palace by a road trip riding on motorbikes. It is a place of historical views, natural scenarios and best ancient architecture sites to visit. Loved to be there.
