Hotel Sonar Bangla - Sundarban

Experienced a nice stay in 2023 Dec.
Sonar Bangla properties are worth to visit. Also there was a very pleasant arrangement of bonfire along with live music for 25th dec night. Totally different atmosphere in middle of the jungle in this resort.

This is an amazing hotel to spend a vacation. This hotel is one of the best hotels of Bengal.

I recently stayed at a hotel and I must say it was an amazing experience. From the moment I walked in, the staff greeted me with a warm and friendly welcome. The lobby was beautifully decorated and had a luxurious ambiance.

One of the worst experiences I ever had.
No complaints about the rooms or service boys who were working there as a staff but the persons in the reception and the person who looks after the laundry were behaving like goons.

Please double check the details physically as there are digital agencies paying random people for fake reviews.

Very disappointed with the lack of management: the resort did commit that they are pet friendly but there were 3 local dogs who were not vaccinated and always around so we could not take our dog around the property. It was my pet’s birthday trip. At least the hotel should make arrangements to confine the local dogs for a few hours with food etc so that we can get the opportunity to freely move around with our pet.
The food was not up to the mark.
The property is well maintained. We took a suite which was nice. Staff are helpful. Wi-fi connectivity to television was not available. As a whole we spent a lot but did not get value for money.

Besides the scenic beauty and food, the property does not have much to offer. Infact, the services lack the basics and the worst part is the boat service offered.beware.one needs to ensure that the 4/8 hour safari boat has drinking water on board before you take the ride.

Absolutely stunning property in gosaba. The rooms are excellent. Service is excellent. Food was very good but the restaurant was full for lunch on Sunday so we had to order room service. Pool was clean and working. Pool towels were provided. Weekends are busy here as expected. It's a lovely property to wind down and relax. The only drawback is that safaris are expensive if you travel in small groups because boats are exclusive so for a family of 7 we landed up paying 9k for half day safari. Full day would have been 2k more. It would have costed the same for a group of say 15 or 20 people. Would therefore request them to start a shared safari service for small families of 4 or say a couple. Atleast during the weekends

Trying to contact Hotel staff after booking 5 rooms on the name of Dr Srivastava. No one receiving the call, nor any one of the customers care bothers to contact us.

When I enter HSB SUNDARBAN my family was really very excited seeing the resort, the pool, the rooms, and feel homely atmosphere as all property of HSB, but i really feel sorry for my self. Lack of service, very rude and avoiding behaviour of staff, they just overlook everything like they don't know anything, make us wait for hours for glasses, water, food and even for menu card in the restaurant. Even they served 3months expired milk powder in your room for tea/ coffee.
We have to spent a whole day empty stomach due to negligence and lack of service of the restaurant and management, and after repeated request they said the restaurant is closed we will not serve anything.
Still would like to thank Mr. Sayan and Mr. Satyam and front desk people to arrange something around 5PM for my little child who was starving since morning.

What a fabulous place this is! Rooms are well kept, well designed, nice and spacious, property it self is very pretty, has loads of activities within the property for people who are not avid wildlife lovers.food has been good.only little blip I felt is the ponds they have made leave a foul smell, so although for the eyes it's pleasing, with the colourful lotus, but that foul smell is very strong and hence even though there is a nice sit out outside evry room u really can't sit for too long!

Not suggestable for disabled or elderly guests. We have been here with family. Reception staff provided toto after long argument and misbehavior. Hence we had to take food from the restaurant all the way to feed my father near his room.

The property is very nice but the service is pathetic. Won't be recommending just for the pathetic service. Weekends are full capacity but the restaurant doesn't have the capacity to handle it.

Sonar Bangla resort is located at Gosaba, Sundarban National park. It is very good hotel with amenities like swimming pool and sports area. Cycles are available at resort. Rooms are neat and clean. Sonar bangla has beautiful landscapes. Staff is cooperative.

Overall a very good experience, a beautiful resort in the midst of the nature. Amazing service which is the most positive aspect of this resort. A little improvement required on the part of restaurant manager Mr Shantanu. Proper etiquette expected from him.

The service disrespectful and the staff rude. Our stuff was stolen and no accountability taken. Our elder grandparents made uncomfortable. The hotel staff and management take no responsibility to help with the smallest things whether transport or coordination. Don't recommend spending any time at this pretent ' good looking' property

I haven't stayed at this property yet as no one responds on any of the numbers available on website not even the GM. This makes the it very skeptical to book for a corporate stay away from all conveniences. The entire reservations is busy to even take a call or call back.

A resort at a budget price. Staffs are helpful. Food is OK. Rooms and wash rooms are OK but may improved at this cost. Geyser should be installed immediately.

I visited in Dec’22, we were two couples.we all really enjoyed the property, had an amazing experience.

Pros:
1.the property is spacious and luxurious along side.
2. The rooms were clean and had a very nice ambience
3. They have activities within campus.swimming pool is great, cycling is there as well
4. The food is just beyond expectations, you don’t expect such a great food at the resorts.
5. They arranged a tribal dance on our request.

There is nothing major con but sometimes service was slow but manageable.

I’ll recommend this property for a fulfilling and enjoyable vacation.

I didn’t stay in this hotel but as a hotelier I want to give some suggestions for this property, I don’t know who r maintaining the reservation side or sells side of this property! But what I learn is, they r not coming from proper hotelier background maybe, I called them last 10-15 days just for a room as a day use basis including photo shoot but nobody pick the the call even 1 or 2 time they receive my call then they supposed to give me their GM no but they didn’t give it, and at last they received my call again and then they told that hotel is sold out, very rudely and cut the call. This is my suggestion to the GM that please teach them telephone SOP please. May be property is good but service is very poor, if anybody would like to choose this property for any special occasion then please stay away from this property. They r not going to listen your required properly for sure. I stayed in sonar bangla Taki as well and they r truly professionally maintained everything, from my reservation to check out

Very nice resort. Had great time here. Vwry nice view in morning and in night also. All building was perfectly designed. Room was awesome. There is issue in network connectivity so be prepared for this. Food was super super tasty. Play room is also there to have fun during stay. I totally loved it.

Had a mesmerising experience at this luxury hotel. Probably this is the only resort in sunderbans providing so much amenities like a big swimming pool, games rooms, activities. Room service was great as well. Found the chinese and bengali dishes in the Restaurant to be very tasty. It has a private jetty to go for boat tours.

Excellent location and property. Spacious rooms, decor good. Polite and efficient front desk and house keeping staff. But Dining services was a big negative. Both resturant and room dining. Though food was good, delays in serving and inefficient dining staff was a big negative.
Boat safari is practically the same what you will get at Godkhali.

Needless to say, the pictures have your attention right at the beginning. The property looks inviting, and beautiful. The process to reach the resort might be overwhelming to some guests, but it is being worked on, and the staff is super helpful, and they guide you till you reach the resort. Rooms are impeccable, clean, highly sanitized, and sprawling. We put up at the suite, and it was literally a 2 room apartment, that big! The network works fine, their wi-fi also helps, in case your network poses trouble. The resort ensures you have a good 2 nights stay. Tones of outdoor and indoor option. A play area, kids play area, pool side, upcoming bar, upcoming café, restaurant, floating seating area. OAT.you name it, they have it! Try their house special mutton, and crab masala. Nothing less than a 5 star for us.

A luxury forest resort perfect for a weekend getaway. Amongst serene surroundings, HSB Sundarban is a must visit. Various activities are on offer along with muilti cuisine delicacies. Very helpful and polite staff present for our hospitality. Property is well maintained. Cruise safari is wonderful with a beautiful view of the Sundarban mangroves and variety of flora and fauna.

Hotel Sonar Bangla Sundarban is a wonderful property, a perfect weekend getaway. It is a perfect place to enjoy a leisurely vacation with family and friends. The property has lot of open spaces, rooms are quite well maintained. There are lots of outdoor and indoor activities. Food is very tasty although they need to improve their breakfast buffet spread. Staffs are very helpful. Overall a very good experience.

Impeccable location just beside the riverfront and nestled within mangroves, a serene place with natural ambience to cool off weary city dwellers. However the staff are inefficient, service is delayed, perhaps still in the learning phase.

Really great experience in staying and lodging in the Sundarban national park. It’s a luxury resort in the Dulki island, definitely not a eco resort. Almost around 80 rooms in the resort is meant to be build up for the crowed. However the kitchen does not seem to be adequate. There is too much rush every day during breakfast and long queues in each station. This is a big risk during Covid times. We also faced the same during one of the dinner nights. As a matter of fact lunch on the first day of arrival could not be served to us, due to rush. However once served are very good quality and taste. No bar still onsite.

Rooms are cleaned and very well decorated. One can feel the new and luxury feel in every room. The property has good places to roam around, bike around or to sit on the open spaces to have coffee and food. There are few natural water bodies inside the property, with some nice flowers. There is also evening programs on the open amphitheater.

The resort is now providing tour boats to the reserved park. They have a connected jetty to board. The approach from Kolkata is bit tedious, where you need to park your vehicle at Gadkhali and then take a private boat of 1.5hrs to reach the resort. However the ride is quite picturesque by itself.

Sorry won't be able to say about the stay because i very much made up my mind not to book after talking to one of their staff, Mr. Ranajit Saha who was very rude. Didn't expect such behaviour from the staff of a well known 4 star hotel. They need to work on this.

A mixed experience overall, the ambience and location is fascinating, and the rooms are tastefully decorated, and provides cosy comfort for the modern traveller. The food tastes great, and maintenance of the property is fair enough.
Our experience got sour at the travel desk, which didn't co-operate with us at all regarding boat safari of the mangrove forests. I was ok with the fact that they couldn't arrange for us as their slots were full, but they simply refused to divulge any information regarding where else I could look for arranging a safari myself. We DID finally arrange a safari independently without their support, but I found such behavior thoroughly unworthy of hospitality sector, particularly when you're trying to attract national as well as international customers. The service has much scope of improvement as it is awfully sluggish and the staff are not at all cordial, even rude at certain point of time.

This s a 4 star property (the only one at Sundarbans till date) where u will get the services like the toiletries, shaving kit, slippers only“ON REQUEST”.
To reach the property u need to take a boat from Godkhali (arranged by them at just the DOUBLE PRICE) and then travel through the whole Gosaba island in a Toto (again at DOUBLE PRICE) to reach the other side of the island just to find there’s a functioning ferry ghat just beside the property! Don’t know why the trouble of the break journey
If u take a driver with u that’s another headache- rooms/ arrangement costs 300 per head, yet u hv to pay 700 to the person who is INCHARGE of these accommodations!
The whole day boat ride -8000/, if u can do that by yourself: same thing u ll spend 4000.
These all r arranged by a person named MR ABHISHEK sir, hotel says they don’t have any say in this, yet we pay DOUBLE for everything - CORRUPT and DISHONEST people.

Worth mentioning points-nice rooms, tasty food (courtesy- Mr Suman), swimming pool (huge one and lots of swimming area for kids), staff- behaviour.
They arranged for a cake which was well decorated and tasted nice. U won’t have complain regarding stay and fooding, though breakfast could be better (but manageable)

5 star service experience and international standard infrastructure, a well thought out decor and spacious property layout are amongst few things we loved.

Inarguably, best property in the sunderbans.

We stayed for 2 days here, a good experience. Rooms are quite large with attached balcony where you can seat and enjoy the greenery with a cup of tea in your hand. Menu is quite expensive, buffet was good, food was tasty but variety was not there, everyday we had chicken and katla fish only in buffet, they should arrange for variety of fishes specially for coastal areas we expect a little bit of variety of fishes in menu.

It is a perfect place for weekend gateaways and short trips. During our stay at Hotel Sonar Bangla, Sundarbans we enjoyed the services provided by the courteous staff and all the other promised facilities. The restaurant Breathing Roots has some very amazing and healthy delicacies. They arranged for a boat safari, which was excellently arranged and an absolute delight. The stay at Hotel Sonar Bangla, Sundarbans was very satisfying as it provides you with the serenity and pleasure that one craves for.

Do not miss staying here. It is a wonderful experience. You would love to see the greens all around. The food is too good. Staff is very courteous. Overall experience was very peaceful and relaxing.

Rooms are spacious, Cleaned even better than some 5 star properties. Property is ultimate for family weekend with indoor sports facility, play ground for kids etc. Food is good, fresh. Don't expect lavish buffet like Radisson or Taj but it is more than enough. Over all Very god experience.

In love with the pool and the overall atmosphere

It has been ten days since we've come back from Sundarban and it'll be an understatement to say that our stay was good. It was absolutely phenomenal. The hospitality at Hotel Sonar Bangla was both courteous and splendid. It was gastronomically pleasing too. The area within the sprawling property was both tranquil and opulent. The staff left no stone unturned in making us feel comfy and cosy. I'll definitely recommend Hotel Sonar Bangla to people I know.

The resort is located right next to subarnarekha river sureounded by nature in the gosaba island of sundarban. The resort is big with lots of amenities of a star resort (all amenities are still not ready and expected by summer).

Rooms:
The rooms are spacious and uniquely decorated.
There are three types of room
Deluxe- Ground floor rooms with a slight bigger balcony then premium
Premium- First floor room, room size same as deluxe room with an elevated view from balcony
Suit- First floor rooms with double the size of Deluxe/Premium
Each house has 3 or 4 rooms, 2 Deluxe rooms and 2 Premium rooms or 1 suit in the first floor

Essentials: They provide 2bottles (1ltr) of packed drinking water daily. For more water u can either buy or get their in house RO water for free.

Restaurant: Food is good, buffet lunch priced at 699/- plus tax and dinner 799/- plus tax. Ala-carta rates r at par with a resort of this category. Food quantity served are more then sufficient.

Activities:
Boat ride to sundarban, boat charges are at par with local operator charges and its best to take their boat.
Sometimes in the evening they arange for tribal dance or Bonbibi-r Pala (traditional dramatic performance)
Swimming pool, Gym, childern park, open theater are not yet ready (expected in few months)

Transport: You cannot reach the hotel by car directly, you have to park the car at gadkhali ferry and take a boat (10min) to gosaba island and from there you have to take a toto (20min).

Recently we stayed two nights with my family and friends. Resort is luxurious specially in Sunderban but lost the charm of jungle. They arranged for whole day ferry booking. The standard of the boat is very poor in comparison to price, though lots of well maintained launches are available.
Food quality somehow good, but some menus are very bad. Price are very high compare to quality and quantity.one bottle water cost 53/ rs. For better service to the guest following services may be provided
1 pick up from Godkhali with dedicated ferry dropping to Gosabba or Dulki
2. Provide Sunderban tour for half day or full day with good quality launch exclusively for SBH guest

Room was not given on time arrived at 2pm got the rooms at 4: 30pm next day during room service the towels we used the last day were juat folded and put back also the we got the luggage 4: 30 pm while arriving at 2 pm

Location of the hotel is amazing with excellent food, excellent ambience and friendly and courteous behaviour of the staff.

Had an amazing one.

After reaching the Gadkhali Ferry we took a boat ride (10min) to gosaba island.from there a battery operated 3wheeler of the hotel (liked the environment friendly approach of the resort) took us to the resort (20mins ride).

Rooms are very spacious n well furnished (complete wooden furnishing).

The property is huge with a part of it still under development.
Amphitheatre, gym, games parlour (pool, table-tennis etc.), sports area (baslet-ball, tennis, badminton etc.), spa etc.are upcoming with work in progress.

Fell in love with the food here.with head chef Winston doing an amazing job.
Buffet menu is flawless but me being a foodie went for Á la carte.
The food touched my soul and the Tiramisu was heavenly.

The boat ride arranged by HSB to the jungle was again an experience worth remembering. The guide was very precise n experienced.

A complete package of fun adventure m relaxation. Loved the stay n will visit again.

The entire experience was an harasmment. The service is third class. The GM abused us. And harassed us outside the resort. Do nt stay here.

This resort is best for weekend gateaways. It gives serenity to the eyes. The place has all the nescessities you require. Playing area for children, extravagant swimming pool, games room, bar lounge, restaurant cum lounge area and a beautiful sneak peek view of the sundarban biosphere reserve. The suite comprises a lounge area, balcony sitting a small dining table with a TV and the bedroom has all the aesthetic views. The normal rooms also has a balcony sitting with all the other nescessities. Each and every minute details has an aesthetic touch. The food served in the restaurant is delicious. All the area has Wi-Fi connection. This is a new hotel of sonar bangla group. The work is going on but they've started taking bookings. It's a must stay if you're visiting Sundarban.

The service and the location is fantastic. The service provided by Purnendu is really need a mention and wonderful. The service, the food and the over all property is awesome. The food quantity is really good but the food is a bit over priced.

Recieved worst behaviour from the staffs. Extremely poor management and most importantly we were harassed by the staff members and we're on the verge of suing them.

Worst stay of my life.
The property is under construction. No service at all. In every step we feel like cheated.
We see all boarders of the hotel is facing similar problem.
We receive room after 1.5 hour. They left our luggage in front of the room after another hour.
They gave us key of a room, which is already occupied.
They took the towel from the floor and fold it again. We had to go to housekeeping room to collect the room.

The location and the property are excellent. The food was very tasty. The staff was very accommodating as well considering I was traveling with kids and needed special food prepped for the kids. I would say this is the best property to visit in sundarbans with family.

Only luxurious property at sundarbans. Located on dulki village on gosaba Island. Excellent ambience.
