Istana Resort & Spa

We had taken 4 rooms and all rooms were different configurations. The rooms were good with a nice view. The resort is ideal for relaxing holidays.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Couldn’t be more happy with the beauty and services this resort has to offer. Amazing mountain view from the room balcony and superb breakfast and high tea. The staff welcomed us very nicely with welcome drink and garland. I would definitely stay here for my next visit. It was not less than a 5 star. Thanks Istana team for making our stay memorable.

Stayed for 2 nights. Kanchenzonga view was magnificent. Better than tiger hill view. But all depends on weather. Mall road a bit far, around 15 mins walking. All veg restaurant is there. Price is a bit on the higher side.

Uncooperative. Rude behavior. Non of the customers would be happy with this kind of service. Did not expect this from such a reputed hotelier. Would not recommend it to anyone.

Even base deluxe room has himalayas view. Good location. Breakfast spread is worth for 250. Great value if booked through make my trip.

I haven't stayed but attended for an conferance. Superb Hotel it's big actually big. People's are good cooperative. On location I am not happy.exactly litle outskirt of Darjiling bit still not in the middle of town. But i believe staying here will be fun

The stay was wonderful. The hotel provide fir a very comfortable stay and has all the required amenities. The food is great. View from the floris is amazing. Sunrise and Mt kunchenjunga can be viewed best during early morning.

Best view from a height due to the location, rooms are very big spacious neat & clean. Well decorated & maintained and obviously behaviour and service is too good. All together was an exciting stay and recommend.

Best place to stay in darjeeling. They have the best view and the breakfast is awesome.

It was an awesome experience in the resort. The manager of the resort Gautam Sarkar is very helpful and cooperative. He also arranged our taxi service and the driver of the Innova was also great. The view oh my god. It is heaven. People who visit Darjeeling must visit this resort. ️️

Best resort in Darjeeling in my opinion, you should have a look at the attic room and take it if it comes under your budget, definitely one of the best views in the whole of Darjeeling, simply majestic!

Restaurant Service is very poor not with smiley faces, one or two persons have been behaving like they are working with road side dhaba, they should need proper trainig about how should treat a client when he come to you for food they have gotten angry when my son ask for something extra at the breakfast table.when everything is going good but food not comes as you thought then all trip will be worst.
Receptionist need extra money although you have booked online but she will show you a low class room and a very good room which you have booked already and she will tell you about money bargainig and you will pay extra money for those room which you have booked already. Rest is good. Premise is very good and owner is very good. Every evening Hi tea function will feel you that owner is doing good to serve you.all Staff are helpful except receptionist Farhin and waiter Nitu. We stayed there for 2 nights it's a Beautiful and spacious property, big rooms with beautiful view from the balcony. Else everything is amazing.
Great stay, value for money.

Pathetic experience. As I had a very high expectations about this property, considering "Sagar" as the brand in this reason, I found no professionalism in room service, breakfast. I stayed there yesterday with my guest from Delhi. Today, he had to take bath in cold water as geyser was not functioning and staffs were not at all serious to address. My room 406 had cockroach in night and I had to cover it with water drinking glass. Today breakfast doesn't match with 'Sagar' name at all. Parathas were cold as those were kept in bowl two hours back. Surprisingly, Sandwich was having a small spider. Sandwiches were also kept two hours back.
Location is also very uncomfortable. Road is one way and once you are in the hotel, for going to Mall, we will have to ride a very very big round to reach there. Very difficult to reach on foot. Overall, we couldn't enjoyed our vacation.

We had more than a satisfactory stay at Istana which we had hoped for. The staff behaviour right from the front desk to the restaurant staff to the property manager were extremely polite and humble! Even though it was a vegetarian restaurant but we found the food to be absolutely lip smacking, even the very basic tea which they served was something to always remember! Now coming to the resort, it was an amazingly beautiful property perfectly located on top of the mountains to have an excellent view of the hills and tucked away from the usual traffic of the Mall road but we could walk to the Mall in just about 15mins, so this resort is very well located. All the rooms have an attached balcony, ours was perhaps the best for it was the top floor with a separate beautiful lawn terrace on the 5th floor. We were extremely fortunate enough to have a perfect full view of the snow covered Kanchanjunga ranges from our balcony and the terrace. Overall, it was a very warm stay we had at Istana which was made possible by the warm behavior of the staff, special mention should be given to Farana who manages the front desk and Gautam Sarkar the property manager who took care of our stay & also arranged a Darjeeling sightseeing for us. The Cab driver Pratham was such a genuine charming guy who ensured we had a good sightseeing. Istana, we hope to be back again sometime and meet you all! This property is a must stay place with amazing view. If you're planning for luxury stay in budget then this is a must try stay option. This hotel is almost 1.5 km (approx.) from Mall road and is really at steep point (with parking as well).

Interior and view was mind-blowing, It is located at prominent location, but have to walk extra steps to reach here, anyways it is near Nehru road and Gandhi road, Only problem which I found is their service, No proper wifi, No Tv, they don't change towels regularly, but in terms of View, vibes and beauty it is the best.

Awesome place to stay but mall road is far and no convenience we have to walk to market bcz it's one way but while returning we can take sharing taxi from market, food is Awesome good ambience

I stayed there for 2 nights from June 9-11,2022 with my family and had an horrible experience. I prepaid my stay through MakeMyTrip and booked for a Deluxe Room for 3. Since we checked in late, the 3rd floor room assigned to us, was given to someone else and I was so called upgraded to another room on the 5th floor. We accepted because we felt upgraded.

It was a wooden room on the top floor (actually a illegal extension). It looked neat on the outside but as the night progressed we figured out that it's a insect infested room. Different varieties (ref picture). Bathroom door doesn't lock and when asked for help, no one responded.

Next day, we politely asked to change the room which the reception guy Prosenjit agreed but later in the evening when we came back to know that all rooms booked and nothing can me done. That's when I lost it and gave them a piece of mind. I demanded the room I booked and paid for it. Enough of their upgrades. Guess what, I got a deluxe room on the 2nd floor.

While shifting to the new room, I saw them giving a makeup to the previous room and asked why. They will give this room to someone that same night without fixing the washroom door and insect infestation. That's the so called upgrade to polite and decent guests.

Beware of such hotels and staffs!
