I love this place because I still do my shopping of veggies, chicken, egg, fish grocery, fruits I do it here. Too crowded in morning times but one gets everything fresh. Not advisable to bring old people here pathas are too narrow and slippery

A bit of history about this old shopping hub. Jadu Babu was the grandson of Rani Rashmoni, a philanthropist and religious activist of the 19th century. Her family commanded vast estates in Kolkata and this prominent market was among them. A popular place for shopping even now, this still has some quaint, really old stores selling traditional utensils for Puja rituals and kitchens. You will find cloth stores, fruit and vegetable vendors, fish mongers, kirana stores aplenty. Just imagine a time of good old-fashioned trade minus glitz and glamour.
Preferably go in the afternoon when the crowds are less, but then you may just find some sellers sprawled on their sales platforms/counters, fast asleep!

This is very big market near Rabindra sadan metro station. You can find fresh fruit, vegetables, grocery, and many more household items as well as toy for children, electronic items, fresh flowers and many more things. Price is also decent. Market is quite congested. But over all a very good market
