Clearly there has been a rapid detoriation of food quality! The Butter Chicken tasted bland, and surprisingly malai kebabs came with a dressing of mayo, hybrid kebabs to my pallette. Interiors are also nothing much to write home about, drab, a shade dingy thats all! A dhaba is meant to serve fresh food till late at night and stick to known flavours, the focus is fresh, tasty and speedy service. Jai hand seems to get this muddled up!
A late night dhaba at Sarat Bose Road close to Padmapukur /Elgin crossing. It serves north indian and chinese. Preferred their paneer malai tikka kebab, tandoori chicken, Rashmi kebab, kulcha, nan, alu paratha, chicken butter masala, masala thumbs up, chicken bharta are most recommended items. Also don't forget to try their Kulfi.
We always liked the food but was very disheartening to see the same person with same hands and utensils, making paneer and chicken rolls, request to owners to please intervene and check all these, else brand value will be tarnished
(7.03.2020) four adults (2 women and 2 men) had gone to Jai Hind Dabha, Sarat Bose Road for dinner after a night out. One of the women was brought to extreme discomfort because another customer, from a different table gaped at her and her breasts for an excruciating amount of time. Such behaviour lead them to take a stand and confront the manager regarding their responsibility of each customer's safety in the Dabha. The other lady recorded the confrontation simply because she can. After their meal, while they were exiting and leaving for home, they were met by a mob of approximately 15 people. Funnily enough, the goons were invited to inflict harm on the 4 of them by none other than the owner of Jai Hind Dabha himself. They were questioned their audacity for filming the owner. Soon after, their agressiveness became physical and they started hitting the 4 involved. The two women protected their heads and managed to get out of the situation at the right time. Unfortunately, both the men recieved the hardest of blows and one went home with 2 swollen eyes and a bleeding nose. Why? Because they simply stood up for their friends who were being wronged. Absolutely no one, no on-looker, no customer, no waiter stood up for them as they themselves are no less than creepy men who wrongly stare at women, when they were stuck in this situation (and you will now understand why) apart from another woman who was a customer at Jai Hind. Unfortunately, she too received blows to her head before she removed herself from situation. Whoever you are, thank you ma'am and I'm sorry. Jai Hind Dabha being one of the most famous go-to Dhabas in the city have permanently traumatized 4 peoples' lives and have wronged them in the worst way possible. Is deterioration of reputation a good enough reason to call a mob and beat up innocent people? In my opinion, they've simply added fuel to the fire. Also, is it THAT important that they over look harassment and eve teasing because it's just simpler to ignore than look into such issues that they force themselves to side with such illiterates? Where is the basic sense of humanity? The conscience? Why wasn't the man thrown out, why wasn't any action taken then? Is the name actually more important than someone's safety? Shame on you Jai Hind Dabha.

Place is generally full after 10, young as well old crowd is found here, parking is done on the road generally famous for non veg, but vegetarian can also eat, Jain food is not available till I went if they have any change then u will have to check
If you are craving for food at midnight then might be it's your destination. Their specialty is to serve food upto late hours. Anyone can have a great, tasty and inexpensive food here. It's suitable for family dining, couples, group of friends and even alone. The restaurant is a 3 storey building for serving a huge capacity. They also accept cash and cashless transactions. It's the most trending place in the town to attract people. You will have good and delicious food here and some good memories and a good feedback for others towards the restaurant. Alas you will love it.
Now. It was saraswati puja and as a student I was veg that day. So we decided to enter a dhaba so that we can somehow manage with the veg food with extra spices.
The food was a bit overpriced. Specially 17 rs for a rumali roti seemed overpriced to me. The curries were on point. We had special butter tadka and chili paneer. Had a good time.
There was no washroom in the ground floor. Yes there are other floors of the restaurant also. Only because of the washroom I am cutting one star. Sorry folks. That was not nice.
Service and interior needs to be improve immediately. Professionalism is missing and trained waiters are very much needed in this restaurant even cashier looks unskilled.
This place is not safe. Here eve teasing, any illegal act can happen and no one will be there to protest. Yesterday one event already happened where a girl was being wronged and the person who stared at the girl in a bad manner has escaped safely. Instead, the girl with her 3 friends were beaten badly by a group of mob arranged by the owner of the dhaba. So please beware of this place.
Jai hind is a perfect place to enjoy delicious punjabi food. The food out there is amazing and pocket friendly as well. They even have other cuisine like Chinese but this place serves best North Indian food. It’s open till 4am at mid night. They serve you food in the car aswell, you can park the car and chill and eat in the car. In the frame “Aloo do pyaza, Rumali, Daal makhni”. Taste -5/5.
An all time favorite for late night meals. But what I truly love about this place is the rumali chicken roll, reshmi or tikka, you take your pick. But do make sure to sit upstairs because it's pretty hot in that part of Kolkata. Also there are plenty of dessert options a stones throw away.
One of the Best Restaurants I've been so far. I've been here for 3 times till date, all three times the Food was very much Satisfactory and exceed my Expectations. Last time 11 of Us went to have an After-Exam lunch the Day itself when our 1st Professional MBBS Exam ended. And When You've got 11 Players to Feast (all Young College Students), the rest is History. We Guys ate like Demons. But anyway, the Food here is Great, the Butters Nuns, Chicken Dishes, the Paneer Items, and The Fried Rice, all Tastes soo Good. I will definitely love to visit this place more often (only if My Pocket Permits)
Very bad place for vegetarians. They served us very bad paneer which was not even cooked well. Another factor I hated there most is this place is that they have costly food If we compare this place food with street food, street food will win in every aspect.
Value for money. Beat tandoori roti i ever had. Fresh & adequately crispy. Roomali roti is awesome too. Good for large groups in terms of pinch to pocket. The baby corn however isn’t that great. Parking on sarat bose road available. AC seating available. Takeaway parcels are popular too. Good kulfi vala available outside.
Over crowded. Not much space, people are going there because they are open till late night. Avoid going there because there is chance to fight and argument with other due to crowd and parking. Even no parking space they have to park car on the road. It's really bad for passers who cross from that side. Government should think about that.
Nice fresh clean. Food with the light aroma of butter and ghee freshly prepared, extremely tasteful. As you can expect from any decent Dhaba. But located not on the highway but right in the heart of the city. We had chicken tandoori, tarka, chicken bharta, reshmi butter masala accompanied by butter naan and masala kulcha followed by masala cold drinks. Perhaps not for the extremely health conscious. Not most expensive ambience, but extremely good taste and quantity. We were highly satisfied specially as we were extremely famished after a exhausting visit to the zoo. Very reasonable price.
Best late night food in Kolkata City! Place is pretty big so there's no stress of waiting. The aloo do pyaza is to die for. It's not a fine dining place so let the expectations stay grounded and you will enjoy the meal!
