Amazing service and very nice environment it is. Food are also good and up to the mark. Near to Safari booking counter thus it's an additional advantage.
Beautiful location with an old-world, colonial charm. Our rooms were generally good with clean space, spotless linens and bedding. Toilets looked hygienically cleaned. And fairly good views. The staff were especially helpful and accomodating in both the lodge area and at the restaurant.
Food at restaurant was tasty and service is definitely 5 stars.
My negative comments/feedback are mainly, 1. The premise is old, under-mainained. Stairs are rickety and dangerous. 2. Lack of cleanliness outside of the rooms. Especially the balustrades require thorough cleaning. 3. The bright light outside the rooms stayed on all night, there wasn't any way of turning them off. Curtains were so flimsy that the bedroom remained super bright, disrupting sleep for the whole night.
Great place to stay. Govt. Property, very well maintained, courteous staff. Good restaurant and a well stacked bar. Forest dept office for safari within 50 metres
Very well appointed rooms. Food options may be limited, so make sure to order in advance. Food quality is very good, the staff though could do with some training.
Awesome place to spend time with family and friends. Garden and view is awesome surrounded by beautiful forest. I heard peacock in the morning. Staffs are nice and caring.
The best property to stay at Jaldapara, having rooms, cottages, parks and great food. I stayed there with my family twice. It is always very pleasant to stay at this property.
Jaldapara Tourist Lodge is run by the West Bengal Tourism Department. Those who are planning to visit North Bengal must stay overnight at this tourist lodge. This is a great place to spend some time with family and friends. A deep forest has started behind the lodge, a ditch has flowed behind it and bison and many wild animals come to drink water. If you are lucky, you will also see that rare sight. The environment of the lodge is very good and the staff is well used.
Ambiance is good, but rate is higher than facilty and service. It got importance due to safari booking but recently online Jaldapara safari booking starts.
I took wooden, its worst. Bad Smell from room, smell of rat/Chamchiki urine etc.all furnitures and doors & ambiance are just faltu. Food are also very costly.eg-One plate of veg (Oaal+Oaal Copi+alu) curry is Rs 120 /-, quantities is very less. You can eat only 4 chapattis with that.
Overall experience was good, behaviour and service of staff was very nice. One thing the rate is quite high in comparison with the facilities. And they should improve the quality of the food.
This is the best place to stay in Dooars, you can feel the nature, you can see the wildlife and now there's one more thrilling has added that is the real sound of Rafale Fighter Aircraft
A bit expensive but a very clean and hygienic environment along with the greenery scenic beauty of the forest. Staff out there are very helpful and polite.
We r stay at suit room no 333. Excellent room, big size bathroom with bath tub, one dining hall cum drawing hall, kingsize bed, two split ac inside of room. Food r good all staffs behave very good.
Nice ambience with well maintained cottages and gardens. If you are lucky, you can spot bisons who come in to drink water just beyond the perimeter fence. Food is standard but quite decent and so is the very friendly service. This place is an ideal takeoff place for wildlife safaris in the nearby Jaldapara forest.
Place is good. The best part is, it is situated just beside the ticket counter for safari and if you choose to stay here, you will have the first priority over ticket that can be booked from reception.
It's really nice hotel with nice food as well as service. Everything is present in every room such as soap, shampoo, comb, sanitizer medical aid etc which we generally see in 5 star hotels now a days. The food quality is extremely good. Nice place to spend time with family. I will suggest to visit this place soon as possible. The park or the natures beauty is like paradise.
Excellent location. Wonderful ambience. Occasional visitors from the wild during night. Clean and tidy rooms. Madarihat safari booking counter just outside the entrance. Only issue is with food variety. Do not experiment with the menu, as it wud fail miserably. Just go with what they suggest. Indian items are ok. Chinese preparation are not upto the mark.
Was very surprised at the quality of the AC Cottages here. Very spacious, and fitted out with high quality fixtures, both in the room and in the washroom. Beds were very clean as well. Free parking is available adjacent to the property. Location - wise, this resort is situated right beside the Jaldapara forest, and we even got to see wild bisons at night. The only issue is, there isn't much to do apart from a jungle safari here. There aren't a lot of spaces to walk around, specially after the sunset. So it's best to spend a day or two here, nothing more. Food was decent as well. Not great. Staff were courteous and helpful.
Hosted by the West Bengal Tourism Department, they have a combination of rooms in deluxe rooms in the New unit or cottages. They have a single suite which is located in the old building. You can access the safari cars just beside the lodge and trying the first safari at 6 AM is the best. The Jaldapara National Park is known for the single-horned rhinoceros, elephants, few species of deer, various species of birds, and leopards mainly.
Nice gateway for the weekends with friends and family. Pretty, clean and spacious wooden rooms (where we stayed). Food is hygienically prepared and delicious. Resort staffs are friendly and well spoken. The place and the surrounding is mesmerizing and peaceful. The safari is a must to experience at the National park.
Book the ticket before reaching the, they book entire car either you are single of four people, you need to pay for complete car. So try to go in groups
Comfortable and clean but too much expensive.previously lunch and dinner were included in the tariff but not now.you have to pay extra for lunch and dinner and these are expensive too.
The jaldapara tourist Lodge is a must visit place when you are coming to North Bengal. It is near to holong bunglow.there are AC, non AC rooms and cottages are available for staying purpose. Also their service are recommendable. Must try Bengali dishes and Chicken stew and Caramel custard. They are conducting Jeep Safari and Elephant rides for Jungle visit. Overall experience was very good.
It's a Government accommodation at madarihat just beside the jaldapara safari counter. At the counter, tickets for both Jeep safari and elephant safari are provided.
It can be defined in two words. Just amazing. Amazing hotel. Amazing staffs. Amazing food. Amazing travel desk. Amazing Manager Saha da. Perfect for Elephant safari and other tours. This lodge is assigned 2 elephants out of 4 for jungle safari. So it is easy to get an elephant safari. Just follow the instructions of the staffs and you don't have to move a muscle to book anything. They will organise everything for you. Jaldapara tourist Lodge Must visit place. Great rooms. The view is beautiful from the balcony. My only request to the administration would be to make the room service free at least for the dinner service and especially for the families travelling with senior citizens excluding the cottages. But all in all I will rate it 10/10 and must visit while you are in the dooers. Thank you.
Overall good place to stay.if you are planning to come in peak season, book atleast 2 months earlier, at check in ask for elephant ride, normally 8 quotas are available for people saying in JTL per day, in Dec, Jan.your chances are low, in Fer, March.your chances are high.but why not take the chance:). Food is available in the attached canteen, car services are also available at reasonable prices for Jeep Safari to Jaldapara Forest, Chilapata, South Kairaberi etc, Try to book rooms in second floor wooden rooms, they are costlier but best.
Nice vehicles with knowledgeable guide, prices were a little high, chances of seeing animals are on timing the first shift and the last shift yields more number of animals, got chased by rhino.
Jaldapra Tourist lodge is located at the starting point or pick up point for Jaldapra National park has which has wild Rhinoceros and elephants. It also has the tickets counter for wild life park entries. The tourist booking the room here will have priorities for booking safari tickets. Has a restaurant attached. Nearby tea shops available.
This one is obviously the best place to stay near Jaldapara National Park, unless you are fortunate enough to get a booking of Hollong Forest Bungalow. It has a wooden block, a brick block and some cottages. Wooden block is the oldest and I stayed there. The rooms are large and cozy, furnished like good hotels with clean toilet. Room service is good and professional. Restaurant is very good but 24 hour dining is not available. Food choice is limited but cooking is homely and staffs are courteous and friendly. The best part is that they can arrange for your elephant and jeep safaries within the park. This is very very important as the reservation for elephant safari is very difficult to obtain and people stand in queue for more than 6 hours. It's within walkable distance from main road, yet bordered by dense forest in the backside. Holong bungalow, on the other hand, is surrounded by dense forest all around but 5 km away from main road.
Good hotel. Helpful staffs. Specious rooms. Double bed rooms are enough for 3. Clean bathrooms. Good part is if you have extra one person in your double bed room he will be included in complementary breakfast. In other hotels you need to pay extra
