I went to Joey's Pub tonight with my friends. We were staying in Darjeeling for the night and wanted to have some drinks. All was fine until two local guys from the next table started talking to me and asking where I am from. I told them that we were childhood friends from Kolkata. He kept asking the same question and I ignored him after some time. He then asked if I wanted to buy some weed and I stayed silent ignoring him.

Then, the other guy came and sat at our table and started asking about my religion.whether I was Hindu or Muslim, whether I was from Bangladesh. When I asked him why he was asking me all these questions, he flicked my cheeks and picked up a bottle of beer to hit me. His friend stopped him. I was almost about to hit him back but I did not want to have any more trouble.

All this while, the bartender and the manager were standing at the bar counter and did not do anything. They were just watching, maybe waiting till we got physically hurt. The crazy guy also started intimidating and threatening my friends, all the while he was saying that he would not accept such bold questions from a tourist. His friend took him away as I told him that I didn't want to start a fight. Only when they left, the manager approached us and asked what they were saying. It was so strange as he was standing right there 10 feet away and watched every bit of it.

Do not go to this shady place anymore. When I came back to our homestay, I shared the incident with the host. He said that we should have avoided that part of the town. So I urge everyone to avoid the place. Do not go to Joey's Pub as it's not a safe place, even for four guys let alone for women or families.

Horrible experience! Shame on the management of Joey's Pub.

Ambience is really good. Nice place to hang out with your closed ones. Its in 1st floor. Just above the Woodland showroom.

Came back to this Joint after almost 15 years. It was totally a different experience with Uncle Joey (late Mr Gongba) behind the counter.i was fortunate enough to see him come down and shred some mean blues lick with Rusty Nails back in the day. Had rushed into this pub with loads of nostalgia only to be completely disappointed. Joey's pub these days has transformed into a Restaurant

Not the best anymore. It has just become like any other bar.

A lovely chilled pub with friendly locals and good to see a mix of men and women here. A good range of drinks and tasty snacks. The pub has a smoking room.

It was a good experience, interior is good, little bit hard to find it and one thing I felt is the owner was little bit rude to us, I asked one of Pub's waiter to arrange some fire place as it was so cold there and he said I have to ask my manager but owner straight away refuse to provide I don't know why. I have seen one portable fire place was there. Overall experience was good, food is awesome.

The owner is an amazing person, she told me about the history of the place ; places to visit and things to do in Darjeeling.

They have renovated the place and it's an amazing peaceful ambience. Must try their chilli pork️

Decent decor, average staff. Vibe on weekdays is pretty much non existent. The upside is good prices for drinks and the Elvis playlist.

A wonderful place where one can sit down and have a drink accompanied with some delicious snacks. A place which one must visit while on a trip to Darjeeling. Highly recommended.

Though this is very good by Darjeeling standards but naturally it's missing the charm of the original Joey's.
