Worst hotel I have eaten anything at.everything is over priced. I ordered chicken and parathas. A small piece of chicken costs 220. They told me they'd give me a big leg piece, instead gave me a small wing, had no meat in it. They said it was desi chicken, that's way it's costly and has less meat in it, but it didn't taste like desi chicken, and what can I say about paratha. 30/piece.since it was over fried small pieces of paratha fell off in my hand. Even the kochuri or puri u get in the streets tastes much much better than their parathas.
The best "potol recipe" I've ever had in my life. Food quality and serving is great, if you are looking for a place to wrap up your lunch with rice and all, you can definitely check out this place.
Mediocre food for the prices quoted. Kalpataru used to be the quintessential Bengali Food stop in Siliguri. The management needs to seriously up their service and definitely food quality to bring back its position!
If you want to venture into quintessential Bengali non-vegetarian recipes that have evolved over centuries, this is the place for you. Cool & Cosy dining arrangements will make you feel at home. Both Quality & quantity of the offerings are quite satisfactory. For a food explorer, one must try Chital curry (jumbo sized Chital fish cooked in moderately spiced gravy), Aar-shorshe /Pabda shorshe (fish cooked in thick mustard gravy) or any prawn dish. A variety of 'Thaali' (platters) are also available. Hilsa- the 'King of Fish' appears in its different avataars too. One can also savour the delicacies like Muri- ghonto, Maacher dimer bora (fritters of fish's eggs) as delectable accompaniment. A place to enjoy the taste of Bengal surely.
My best friends showed me the place, its just heaven for taste buds. Visiting Siliguri or you are already in Siliguri, you gotta eat here. There is no excuse. Its just out of the world.
Average food nothing like what people spoke about when it comes to proper Bengali food.if you are hungry and have no other place to visit then I would suggest visiting this place to kill your hunger otherwise am sure there are lots of other options
Qwality of food is below standard, and also not maintain the cleanness. So say it is not a hygienic. Price of the food is overrated and be cautious while place your order.
It's a pice hotel unlike other hotels where you get dal, veggies, fries in a plate, here you have to order each and everything individually. Price of a plate of fine rice is Rs- 50 (on the costly side), fries of the day -Rs- 20 also dal, different vegetables options are there at flat 60. Non veg items starting from 100+ goes a long way. Quality, quantity and hygiene is good. Has washroom. Better to Go with someone to share the costs of the veggies (good quantity). Overall very good but comes at a price.
You can enjoy authentic bengali foods here. Had some fish curry along with afternoon meal. If they would work on thier prices than It would be best place.
Horrible food quality. . Poor service quality.lack of professionalism.when a complaint in that food is not iterable they just say you cannot do anything yet to pay for it.my suggestion is to avoid this restaurant
Previously it was one of the best hotel in Siliguri. Don't know what happened but that charming ambience is no more nor the cleanliness. Particularly after the division of the hotel service is no more attractive compared to the price. And also I get confused.which one to go because there are two hotels now.
Taste wise good, but very commercial. They charge you for everything. I mean literally, even the lemon the mirchi as well. Which are standard in any thali serving joint.
Kalpatru is very famous pice hotel in Siliguri near sevoke mod. Non vegetarian enjoyed this place as their are so many traditional cuisine of Bengal and Nepal in this hotel. The rate is also nominal as compare to the quality delivered in this hotel. The manager is also very kind hearted and service is also fast. In totally kalpatru is ideal for the lunch or dinner, if you want something traditional in reasonable prices.
Located at the heart of the Siliguri town, this Bengali restaurant is one of the best authentic in the entire city. However, few of the items gave an artificial feeling to the taste buds. For eg, Tengra fish and Pabda fish, seemed to be tasteless. Barring that, all other items were good and filled up appetite to the fullest. Especially, Relish fish and Potato fries were really good. A little over priced, that's why gave it a three star rating. Since, it is a Pice hotel, each and every item has a price, for an instance, spoon, number of bowls, intake the quantity of rice and more. They all contains a price individually.
Not for the first time. Not for the second time. Gave a third chance. Totally disappointed and would not recommend anyone. Exorbitant prices of vegetable curries and stale fish for the third time. They Are literally robbing people specially food lovers in the name their very own name which may have been sincerely established by their forefathers.
Totally disappointed. I was served crane meat when i ordered chicken. And the price is very high. I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit the restaurant if someone asks me.
I loved this place just because of thier food quality and taste. The best dish of this hotel which i liked the most is " Kurkura Aloo Bhujia". That is awesome. Please visit this place with ur family ant don't forget to try this Aloo Bhujiya.
Food are awesome and tasty, ambience also good but as per price segment its not good, they charge for everything, no wonder from now they charge for glass of normal water
Best place for lunch or dinner, grandfather used to take us for Bengali dish and it's been more than 25 years that I make sure to take my daughter once while I visit Siliguri every time.
Food quality has deteriorated but price has increased in last two years. Most of the items are not available. You can not compare what is small, medium, jumbo or super jumbo size big fish if small size fish is given in the name of jumbo size fish.
Kalpataru is among the best places in entire North Bengal to relish Bengali cuisine. Immensely popular among the non-Bengali populace, too, Kalpataru has been serving awesome fish preparations since 1981. Not only the fish lovers, but also the vegetarians throng Kalpataru for their delicious Bengali 'Niramish' preparations.
Great place to be in if you like good bengali food. The quality of food is great. The service is very fast and all in all a must for all avid bengali food lovers.
Total waste of money.
In Kalpataru Pice Hotel the foods are amazing and delicious those who like pure Bengali dishes please go this hotel. In my opinion I suggest you to eat fine rice with chittol muitha its a very tasty dish. I have gone to many Bengali restaurant in Siliguri but I like the foods of this hotel very much. If you wanted to eat a simple and pure Bengali dish in this hotel, I would suggest you to eat fine rice, dal, chittol muitha and jumbo illish those who love fish and those who want to eat meat I would tell them to eat fried rice with chili chicken and aloo fry. In this hotel the service is not so good but in front of this tasty Bengali cuisine this is nothing
This restaurant has been popular for a long time for its thali and fish preparations. The taste and quality of the food is good however it's a little overpriced. They even charge for extra rice which I think is unfair when many new pice hotels are offering better quality food for much less.
