The air-conditioning is lousy. The food is just about average. But, the attitude and behaviour of the steward Mr. Upender and the Manager Mr. Jiten is just awful and terrible. Mr. Upender is absolutely ill-behaved, ill-mannered and lacking in etiquette. He is extremely arrogant and does not know how to behave with and speak to a customer. He made absolutely baseless, irrelevant and out-of-context statements, remarks and comments about and against me, without absolutely no rhyme or reason at all. He had absolutely no business to do so. But it is sheer arrogance that has gone into his head. As regards Mr. Jiten, although he did not speak to me, he is hand-in-glove and acting in collusion with Mr. Upender and he is providing full support and backing to Mr. Upender, as a result of which Mr. Upender has become emboldened to speak and behave with me in the manner in which he did. Subsequently, finding no other alternative, I was forced and compelled to complain to Mr. Rajiv Ghai, the proprietor of "Kwality" Restaurant, but I am extremely sorry to say, and it is very sad and unfortunate, that Mr. Rajiv Ghai has remained completely silent and inactive over the issue, which only goes on to show and prove that Mr. Rajiv Ghai has provided tacit support to both Mr. Upender and Mr. Jiten. Subsequently, after the kind of behaviour I received, I have stopped visiting "Kwality" Restaurant, Ballygunge Phari, and have vowed never to visit again. I mean what I say and what I have narrated is the truth and nothing but the truth. Extremely bitter experience.

A tad depressed to see this place virtually empty on ashtami afternoon, and equally pleased to see the people taking their safety and well-being seriously. Food like always was good, and seri courteous.

Established at New Delhi in 1940 by the Ghais, The Kwality started its Kolkata journey with a restaurant in Park Street in 1952, followed by this branch at the Ballygunj Phanri in 1956. The house also owned the famous Kwality Icecreams of Kolkata — later sold off and co-branded with Walls.
Renovated during the pandemics, the restaurant (and bar!) unmistakably retained its old world charm with friendly and courteous waiters and managers. I have been to this place many times for the last 35 years or so with my friends — who grew up with me — and my family. Never got disappointed.

Kwality: One of the heritage restaurants in Park Street, Kwality serves the best food of town.
We tried their Gondhoraj Kabas, it was delicious. We also had their classic Tutti Frutti Icecream and it was exactly like our Childhood days, very nostalgic.

A little classic styled restaurant and bar. But the food there is fresh and delicious, though a little bit costlier.

The restaurant of our choice The quality of food is superb no doubt, but only Chinese food. Moglai dishes are still missing after the pandemic.

Quality has lost its old-world charm, at least the Ballygunge phari outlet. Overpriced food, vis-a-vis average quality and bad quantity, combined with a quite shady clientele, explained the almost empty restaurant on a Sunday evening. Would recommend the Park Street outlet.

The current ambience and deco (though under renovation) does not match the cuisine (currently restricted to Chinese and Continental only). Quality and quantity of the dishes ordered were quite good.

Great tasty food and excellent service. No Indian dishes are served, mostly Chinese cousine with a few vegetarian options.

Had been for to Kwality Ballygunge for a family dinner after a long time. The place did not look so great but was spacious. We were the only family out there. We had chicken tetrazzoni, chicken stroganoff, chicken cutlet and tutti fruti icecream. Food was good. Parking ofcourse is a problem.

Hotel with nice and peaceful ambience. Can enjoy western, Indian and Chinese foods here with moderate price.
Service is very prompt and friendly behaviour.
Great place to come and enjoy family friends get together.

Ever wondered what a sandwich should taste like? May be it should not taste like mayo sogged breads, like the modern matrix of cafes and resturants serve. Ballygunge Phari Kwality is one of Kolkata's Iconic eateries which apart from one other resturant in Kolkata serves the old school sandwiches of the European era with a very distinct taste. Which I still dare to eat without toasting the bread. Apart from many other delicious European dishes and alchoholic beverages, their "old school" sandwiches are easily the best in Kolkata in my opinion. I just hope they can preserve the taste and the Kwality for many more years to come and not get carried away by modern trends.

Fantastic place to gather and enjoy very attractive dishes of Chinese and western dishes. We three families gathered and enjoyed very much in the cosy and peaceful weather of this restaurant.

Food and service were below average. Menu didn't have too many options to choose from. Considering the fact that there's no parking space or valet parking, it's not worth taking the trouble of another visit. It's also very shabby inside. To sum up, a disappointing experience.

Our old haunt for five generations from my grand-parents to my grand-daughter. Very nostalgic as the atmosphere and decor have not changed much. So it looks a little drab compared to the new glitzy restaurants. But it retains the old charm, the hushed elegance - a sharp contrast to the full throated cacophony of modern eating houses. The food is as usual excellent and served with the old world courtesy. Whenever I feel nostalgic I visit this place.

P. N. Ghai founded the Kwality restaurant in 1952. Initially, only tea, coffee, and snacks were offered there. A few years later, North Indian and Tandoori food made an appearance on the menu and immediately became a huge hit. In order to continue the Kwality legacy, B. K. Ghai joined his brother P. N. Ghai in 1958. Rajiv Ghai, the son of B. K. Ghai, currently manages the company in the same way by being a hands-on proprietor and spending time interacting with clients and guests closely, continuing to strengthen the unique relationship that Kwality has with its regular clients.

If you are nearby Ballyganj Phari and feeling hungry.and pondering where to go, please select Kwality Restaurant. It serves Chinese and Continental food only, no Mughlai! Also it has a bar, where different varieties of liquors are served. If you are with family, there is a separate section where you can enjoy your meal. We ordered drums of heaven, chicken clear soup as starter, chicken fried rice & chili chicken as main course. I must say, all the dishes taste wonderful. True to the word, 'QUALITY'.

The charm of Ballygunge Kwality is being missed this time as the main attraction Tutti Frutti was not available. They said they can make it with only Vanilla Ice Cream and limited available fruits which was not expected. The not so many crowd included old aged people who came for a Sunday drink alone. Staff are still courteous and the food is good. May be they need a change over in ambience.

Awesome place for food! Indian, Chinese, Conty everything is superb. Age old pedigree restaurant with branches at many places in India.

They have stopped serving their North Indian food for which they are famous. Presently serving only Chinese and Continental.

Maintenance was going on. Almost empty resturant. They have stopped Indian dishes along with some other dishes.

This time experience was not good like other times.

Like the name suggests the place is absolute quality. The attendants are extremely friendly and are always looking to help you out. They are very kind and sweet.

The quality of food is excellent. The chicken and fish taste amazing. And the entire ambience is cozy and comforting.

Definitely worth a visit

Ordered the chicken cutlet, fish fry and chicken toast sandwich. Chicken cutlet and fish fry were tasty and worth the bang. Sandwich was an expensive wrt to the quantity. Taste was ok. They offer Chinese as well. Indian is not available. Will visit again for continental only.
