La Sonajhuri Resort

We spent a very quality time while our stay at La Sonajhuri Resort which is situated amidst the greenery of Sonajhuri forest. The 'shonibarer haat' is within the walking distance and the resort has a quite good and soothing ambiance. Rooms were quite good and maintained. Even room service was good. We also enjoyed the food there during our stay. In totality we had a very very nice stay at La Sonajhuri. Thanks to manager and all staff for his excellent cooperation during our stay over there.

An awesome homely place fpr the perfect weekend outing. Be it the cozy rooms with wood lined walls which give a real good feeling, or the food, which reminds you of the perfect Sunday afternoon food at home, the place is really worth a visit (I'll say more than one). Another plus point is its location. Lying at the apex of the Shonibarer haat, it becomes easy for the shopping friendly people. The owner cum manager is perhaps one of the most passionate women I've ever met. Managing the entire friendly crew along with a small stall that she sets up during the haat selling awesome snacks and aam pora sharbat. One won't simply get disappointed by the comfort and the coziness of the place.

One of the worst resort. Worst behavior of the owner. Never ever go to this place. Hated this place. Specially the manager. Fist he said that drivers room will be for 300 then he started insulting me in front of my driver saying why can't you pay 200 rs extra to give him more comfor but when I agreed to this he again said one more driver will share the space or else I have to pay 1500 for the room. He attacked me. One of the worst manager never ever recommend this resort to anybody if you don't want your experience to get spoiled. If minus was an option I would have opted that rating

Perfect for people who are looking for a quite and cozy stay in shantiniketan away from general humdrum. Really beautiful property, top-notch in maintenance and cleanliness, delicious food and extremely helpful staff.

LA Sonajhuri Resort is located at the very end of Sonajhuri, boasting an expansive and beautifully decorated property on the outside with ample parking space. However, my stay from September 9th to September 10th, 2023, did not live up to my expectations. Despite having visited Sonajhuri on four occasions, including this one, I had never encountered such a disappointing experience before. It was particularly disheartening to have brought friends along and faced such a situation. Let me summarize my overall experience.

The resort features an impressive exterior and a spacious property. Unfortunately, the interior did not match up. The rooms were quite basic and lacked cleanliness. Notably, the TV and internet did not work, and the cabinets had no locks. Additionally, the positioning of the AC was inconveniently far from the bed. The absence of toiletry kits meant guests had to provide their own. On a positive note, the toilets were clean and functional. However, ongoing construction work generated disruptive noise from early morning, making it difficult to sleep.

One significant issue was the strict policy against bringing outside food. When we declined the hotel's lunch offer to dine at Shakuntala, a preferred choice in Sonajhuri, we decided to bring some light snacks for dinner as were full with the heavy late lunch, such as MOMOs and chips, not available in the hotel's kitchen. To our surprise, we were stopped by hotel staff upon returning to the property, with the assertion that outside food was prohibited. This rule had never been communicated to us during booking or check-in, and the food we brought was not part of the hotel's menu. The manager's attitude was confrontational, necessitating a call to the owner to resolve the situation. At one point, it felt like a threatening situation as multiple hotel staff members gathered, exhibiting intimidating body language.

Another inconvenience was the hotel's breakfast policy, which dictated that breakfast order would not be taken before 9 AM. This meant guests had to endure hunger until then and were not permitted to bring food from outside. The hotel staff acted as if we were unreasonable for expecting breakfast at 8 AM, despite the absence of any facility to serve us at that hour.

In conclusion, if you are planning a vacation with family or friends and seek a peaceful experience, I would advise against choosing this place. LA Sonajhuri Resort may shatter your mental peace, subject you to unexpected confrontations over minor matters like bringing snacks, and result in an embarrassing situation in front of other guests, friends and family. I have been to Cristallo Resort (Situated near this resort) two times and never had to face this kind of things, It was a big
mistake from my side to book this place.

Great property in Sonajhuri forest family friendly close to Amar kutir and sonajhuri hat ideal for a quiet holiday

Over the past weekend, I had the opportunity to explore La Sonajhuri, an exquisite destination. My experience was marked by a profound sense of admiration for its scenic beauty and captivating ambiance. It was with considerable astonishment that I came across a handful of unfavorable reviews concerning this establishment.

During my visit, I had the privilege of engaging with the proprietor, a gentleman whose demeanor exuded refinement and sophistication. His distinguished background is punctuated by a lengthy tenure in Silicon Valley, California, spanning over four decades, which bespeaks his wealth of experience and erudition. Regrettably, the establishment's reputation has been inadvertently marred due to a series of unfavorable feedback. One pivotal aspect contributing to this predicament pertains to the recent displacement of the managerial personnel, a development that transpired approximately four months ago. The pervasive presence of the former manager's contact details, even prominently displayed on prominent platforms such as Google's official website, has inadvertently led to a state of disarray. The establishment's online presence is entangled in a labyrinthine configuration, resulting in a notable deterioration of its digital assets and resources.

In summation, my visit to La Sonajhuri left an indelible impression of its intrinsic charm. However, the disconcerting feedback and operational challenges encountered underscore the exigency for a strategic realignment, particularly concerning its digital representation and administrative facets.

Very good resort to hang out with friends and family, if you can ignore little blemishes in the rooms. Service is excellent. Garden is beautiful. Loved the stay.

Service- nothing special. No such entertainment facilities found there.miss guided to clients. Not even clean the rooms and bathroom next day.

Overall- outside the room, the campus is too good and fully decorative.

Short Review of La Shonajhuri Resort - Shantiniketan

La Shonajhuri located at Sonajhuri Shantiniketan, is a very unique resort I have come across. Not only It boasts to have more than 50 well maintained rooms with a sprawling lawn, neat and clean ambience, very well behaved and equally helpful staffs, it provides some extra which any guest will agree.
Entering the resort one will get mesmerised by the colourful flowers lined up and welcoming each guest and the beautiful melodies of Tagore at the background, but it is more surprising to know that all staffs and members are involved in growing up and maintaining the flowers which shows a rare cohesiveness among staffs and management which is a rare example now a days.
Rooms are neat and clean with ample ventilation and light, washrooms are maintained and most importantly one will experience a positive vibes as soon as he enters the room. Foods are very delicious and tasty which is served in a spacious, well-lit dining room and served by friendly staffs who are there always to help and cater the needs of individual customer. In the entire resort and in every nook and corner one will feel the essence of cleanliness and proper maintenance. The small pond where ducks play is also maintained in a very proper manner on regular basis. Having lots of trees and greeneries in the resort, there are special trees in the property like Raktachandan and more which needs special mention. In the night the Resort takes a glamorous look with all lights lit and one would feel and understand its another side of beauty which is too good.
One aspect of the resort really drew my attention and that is fossil of pieces of trees trunks which turned into stone and the process takes at least 50 K years for the transformation. Seven such masterpieces are kept in the entrance which itself tells us the artistic taste of the person who took extraordinary venture to collect the same from different parts in and around Birbhum.
LA Shonajhuri, is a venture of a NRI who loves his country to the core and is different from others. The statuette of tagore with a caption “ LOVE YOU BOSS “ is very interesting. Three idols of Shri Ramkrihna Parmhansadeb, Shri Sharada Maa and Swami Vivekananda kept at the entrance needs special mention. The resort in every aspect is special and more special because it has brain and artistic sence in all minutest detail which is rarely seen. The resort is in itself falls under different category which is beyond conventional star rating as one would feel that it is a home with style and proper sense of art with deep rooted respect towards our culture and tradition. LA shonajhuri in Bolpur is a perfect match with the background and ambience of Bolpur and it is worth to experience the stay in the resort in the land of Tagore.

In this Hotel people can feel a village cottage vibs as like as santiniketan, You can find rooms within 2000.

Pros:
Only thing is the location. It is 2min walk from sonakhuri hat the main attraction of shantiniketan
Food is good but costly

Cons:
Service. The worst part. We had requested to provide us for barbeque but it was horrible experience and after complaining also they did not bother
Manager Behaviour is very bad. We had requested for 1hour extension as we had our train late but this is the first time where we did not get a 5min extension to use the washroom.
Everything we asked for any service they are charging money and that's not acceptable.
Overall it was very bad experience staying in this resort when we are paying a lot for per day

Amazing owner, great taste of music, great aesthetics,
Good food, sonajhuri haat and gram koyek minute er hata poth.

Rooms were clean & big but not well maintained. So were bathrooms. Very pricey as per other hotels. Location is good, because it is near Sonajhuri haat. The main problem is Owner & the staffs' behaviour towards customer. Service is very poor. They misbehaved with us & used fowl language because we forgot to pay only Rs 60/- for packaged drinking water.

Very rude mannered manager pretending to be very gentle. After spending time one can realise the flaws and problems in different respects.

They have renovated and the new building is quite good. Few aminities are missing, which they are implementing soon. Food quality is very good. Staff behaviour is good as well. This place has a secured parking too.

The rooms are shoddy even though from the outside they look great. It is certainly very pricey. The food quality was good but again much costlier than other places. The worst part was that they even demanded that the bottled water in the rooms be charged! This was unusual as hotels generally provide one or two bottles of water as complimentary and charge only when extra is requested. Overall the staff was friendly but the rooms were just too bad.

Only the food was good. Stay is pathetic. Service is pathetic. No basic amenities provided. AC was not working. No intercom.fine even if intercom is not available the numbers provided should be workable.but no1 was available.the host is rude.pathetic experience. I fell ill for the conditions. Also when I wanted food the manager was literally like "12ta nagad ke breakfast kore" and he didn't even care to take the order.few things can be considered, but misbehaviour cannot be.

The road this resort can be challenging during monsoon but once you make it, it's quite pleasant with great food and friendly people.

Truly a home away from home. The resort is located at the very heart of Santiniketan. 3 minutes walking distance from Sonajhuri Hat. All the staff members are very courteous and go beyond to enhance Customer experience. The food is just mesmerizing. Perfect place for relax and recharge.

Such an unprofessional behavior. From Mr Biswajit. At 9: 45 AM today, he said rooms are available and then never sent the details where payment to be done. NEVER. Upon calling next he said and I quote "oto phone korar dorkar nei". As if they are offering some free service.

I visited 2days ago with my family, it was really a very pleasant place to stay in the lap of nature. Hospitality of Biswajitda nd his staffs was too good.

A pleasant stay amidst the serenity of nature. Hospitality of Biswajit and his team was great. Hotel is very near to Sonajhuri hat and famous Khoai. Food was good, homely.

Good place to stay in Prantik. But the rooms need attention. Bed and blankets was extremely clean. Good staff and service. Even though the food was not awesome but was good enough.

The owner Mr. Biswajit is a gem of a person. His arrangement for everything is praiseworthy including baul gaan and birthday celebration. The staff's are also well behaved. The location is great, the staffs are very well behaved. The room was clean and well maintained but surrounding of the hotel except the front part is not clean. Wastes were found to be dumped recklessly.

বাজেটের মধ্যে এককথায় দুর্দান্ত রিসর্ট।সাজানো গোছানো পরিষ্কার পরিচ্ছন্ন ঘর। ঢোকবার আগে সম্পূর্ন স্যানিটাইজড করা ছিল।বাথরুম পরিচ্ছন্ন। সামনে সুন্দর মেইনটেইন করা বাগান। রাতের বেলা আলোকসজ্জা বেশ মনভালো করে। গাছপালা ঘেরা মনোরম পরিবেশ। স্টাফদের ব্যবহার ভীষন ভালো। খাবার একদম ঘরোয়া একদম বাজেটের মধ্যে। সোনাঝুরি হাট থেকে 5 মিনিটের দূরত্বে নিরিবিলিতে অবস্থান। এককথায় ছোট উইকেন্ড ট্রিপের জন্য আদর্শ। তবে ঘরে ইন্টারকম না থাকায় কিঞ্চিত সমস্যা হয় এবং শীতের লেপ কম্বলগুলি কিঞ্চিত আকারে ছোট। ম্যানেজার বিশ্বজিৎ দা অসম্ভব কাস্টমার ফ্রেন্ডলি এবং মিষ্টি ব্যবহার। আবার আসবো।

The experience is very good in terms of its hospitality; cleaniness; room size; quality & taste of food. It's isolated from crowd with own parking place. Not only that it's ambience is superb maintaining privacy. Biswajit, the Manager - thanks a lot from me.

Place and environment is very beautiful. The problem is that the rooms are not well maintained though the rate is high.food quality just average but the rate too high to tolerate. Behavior of tha manager Biswajit Pal is just unfair. They are not willing to allow the guests to have their fooding outside.only staying is not acceptable by them according to the managers opinion.

On telephone the owner confirmed that they had rooms with private balconies and accordingly we booked two rooms each with private balcony. But, in reality, it did not have any private balconies.
Foods seemed overpriced. No complimentary breakfast or even tea was offered. Two water bottles kept in the room were even charged.
It has good infrastructure but the same is not well maintained. Some small changes may upgrade the feel.

1. The manager Mr biswajit is one hell of a rude man lacking basic courtesy.this became apparent only during the 2nd night.avoid communicating with him as much as possible.
2. Rooms are overpriced and lacks basic amenities like shelves, wifi.dnt even clean rooms unless asked to.
3. They only serve have bottled water and charge 25 INR for a litre.
4 Don't even provide toothpaste.so advisable to carry your own soap, toothpaste, bodywash.
5. For a charge of 2300 per night they DNT provide complimentary breakfast.
6. Food is costly and just average.mush better to travel to other hotels for all.meals.even Puri sabzi costs 60 INR, No options for milk cereal
7. No safety check. I didn't sign a single register, nor was asked to present my id.just paid and left.so good for some illicit activities
8. Lack of anything nearby would force you to travel few km for any small requirement like medicine, water

Nice place, close to haat.
Vegitarian food is bit costly and lacks taste. Non-veg food is average. When we look at food from price perspective I would say food should have been better for the price it came.

The Best place for being in the soul soothing atmosphere along with family and your dear ones just at the lap of mother nature at Sonajhuri, Bolpur. Not only the environment but also the Reception, service and the ambiance is something beyond our expectations. Natural Resources and Food Quality is heavenly. All of the staff members are very much efficient, friendly and my dear that the boarders will feel like home over there. Thank you so much mainly to Mr. Biswajit Pal for all the efforts extended. We will visit again ASAP.

A beautiful and peaceful hotel near Sonajhuri forest. It has a tree house kind of concept for its rooms, which looks very beautiful. Costed us aroun Rs. 4600/- per day for 2 AC rooms, which includes complimentary breakfast. Additionally, the food was exceptionally good. We had ordered chinese for dinner. It was very tasty. From here, you can easily visit Sonajhuri Haat, which is at a walking distance.

By looking at what I saw, this is one of the best resorts available near Sonajhuri haat. If you want to stay very near to the haat and enjoy a lovely calm environment away from chaos, do give this a try. Beautiful banglow amidst forest adds to this resort. We were charged around 2.5k for a double bed AC room. Considering the fact that we booked it on reaching the spot, I feel it was a decent amount. They even have restaurant from where you can order food to either your room or visit there dining room.

Away from city hustle we found absolute bliss for the weekend, Wonderful location, stone throw distance from the amazing attraction " sonibarer haat". Good hospitality from the staffs & excellent bengali food. Special thanks to Biswajit Da (Manager) for his assistance to make our trip memorable.

We got wonderful experience staying at this place. Although is this more of a hotel than resort but has a lot of open space and greeneries.the rooms especially the bathroom is equipped with all the facilities like a bathing area with slider door, comod, basin, geyser etc. The room is clean and nicely decorated with AC, TV etc.the famous khowai haat is in walking distance.it takes 20 mins to reach the place from Bolpur station where the battery vehicles charged 80 INR for 2 people. The staff is very supportive.

You can call it a small resort or hotel. It is situated near khoai haat in Bolpur, Shantiniketan. We went there to attain a family function and stayed there at night. The fooding and party arrangements are good but the party hall is a little small. The rooms are clean and tidy with AC, television and geyser facility. We had a nice and pleasant stay there. The place is very peaceful with lot of greeneries. It takes hardly 15-20 mins to reach the place from Bolpur station. The staffs are good.

The place is neat and clean and location is great if and only if you want to enjoy loneliness in a sonajhuri forest, shanibarer haat and kangkalitala mandir. For enjoying the university it's better to try out any of the options in town. The staff are very friendly but very unprofessional and inexperienced. The hotel manager was also unable to handle a team of 13 people to their satisfaction. Services were inconsistent with only basic food available, they could serve (chilli chicken but not chicken noodles), so expect bhat dal and mangso only. Another star also goes for unprofessional service where furniture and facilities in rooms were not sufficient. Also a lot of noise pollution (by workers) early morning @ room 112. They arranged a complimentary baul song performance. So 3 stars overall.

The behaviour of the manager is very harsh. There is a huge short of manpower. No intercom available. For any requirement one has to come out of the room and call the only poor boy available for service. There is no variety of food and even a common menu like egg curry will not be served if not in their menu list on that day unless is ordered for 5 or more dishes! The kitchen is hygienic- the only good point.

The only disadvantage is that it is located in an isolated area.though very relaxing for tourists who want to spend time amongst nature in a calm and peaceful environment.

Awesome experience in LA SONAJHURI RESORT. …. I stayed there from 22-02-2019 to 24-02-2019 with my family and friends. Mainly we are compare three things before to booking any Hotel or Resort - Room, Food and behaviors of Hotel staffs. La Sonajhuri get 10 out of 10 in this category. Thanks to Biswajit da, Masomasai and all staffs of La Sonajhuri to make the Santiniketan tour to memorable for us. I strongly recommend to all, if you plan to santiniketan tour once think about LA SONAJHURI RESORT.
