LAVA Feathers India Homestay

! Please stay away from this homestay!

The owner of the homestay Mr. Rishabh Pal seemed like a very nice gentleman at first. I had booked a room for 2 days and I paid an advance of Rs 1000, more than 3 months before the trip.

He also assured me that he will arrange for transportation to pick us up from NJP station and drop us off at his homestay.

About 1 month before the trip, I had some complications due to which I was forced to cancel the trip.
I tried calling Mr. Rishabh over and over again for 2 days but he simply refused to pick up.
I had no other contact number for Feathers Homestay so there was no one else I could call.

I messaged Mr. Rishabh on Whatsapp stating that I had to cancel the trip and asked for a refund.
After a couple of days he finally viewed the message but did not reply back.

I tried calling him but to no avail.

Then on the day I was supposed to check in, I get a call from the manager Mr. Animesh. He called me to find out how close we were to the homestay and whether we will take lunch or not.

He had absolutely no clue that we had cancelled over a month ago. This just shows just how irresponsible Mr. Rishabh is. The manager made some lame excuses about Mr. Rishabh being a very busy man and said that he will talk to Mr. Rishabh and arrange for a refund.

But obviously nothing more happened after that.
Neither Mr. Animesh nor Mr. Rishabh can be contacted.
Despite the fact that I cancelled the trip 1 month in advance, I never got my money back!

People like Mr. Rishabh Pal are destroying people's faith in tourism in the hills and harming the reputation of homestays all over the hills.

I repeat, Please stay away from this homestay!
From what I have heard, there are much better places to stay at Lava like, Misty Mons Homestay or Paradise Hotel.

Most third class homestay in Lava.room service is very bad, staff behavior (MAMA) is very pathetic. Rooms are decent. Please dont stay at this home stay.they send fake picture of hotel at the time of booking. And most of that the food is very pathetic. Serve all food cold and basic type. Please dont waste your money.

Really good Food. Momos are one of the best dishes. Caring and smiling faces. Prefect location. Walking distance to Neora National Park. Good view of Mountains. Best place to stay. Thanks

Stayed 2 nights during birding trip - clean rooms, great location & view, homely food & friendly service.

Location wise this was a treat for our souls. It's preferable for people who don't like busy crowdy places. Service was amazing. Overall very good experience.

It is a very peaceful place to spend your weekend, our experience was wonderful, there are a lot of tourist attractions nearby.

Amazing location very close to nature. View from rooms is so beautiful that time passes without your realization. Delicious foods and cozy relaxing atmosphere.

Feather's India homestay a homestay which gives you a home like feeling in between the laps of mountain and nature. The location is very beautiful and had a great experience staying here. Enjoyed the home cooked food. Tara rai bhaiya and his family members were extremely friendly and affectionate.

The owner of the homestay is such a lier. They have claimed 1500 per day and dint provide a room heater also on immense cold. And everything is intact in their room when we checked out. Still he is telling lies here. We have booked room for 2 days and we fell sick on 1st day itself due to immense cold and poor service of the homestay. When we requested to cancel the second day's booking he dint even reduce the amount a bit also and we needed to pay the whole amount and leave. Such a lier and cheap mentality owner he is. He dint know how to behave with boarders. Guys dont go in this homestay. This owner has spoiled our experience in lava. He is a big cheater and lier.

The homestay provides very bad service. To ask for any service, you have to contact Rishov Pal or Animesh Raychaudhury, who are not at all present in the location itself. Then they will contact the homestay people for providing or not providing the service. They don't provide room heater in immense cold of 1 to 2 degree but take huge room cost. On asking for room heater they charged 600 to 800 rupees for 8 pm to 7am each day. The geyser was also not working. And in this immense cold they stop the geyser from main. Such inhuman people. They don't also provide wifi. Tara Bhai and his wife are really helpful here. The food and location were good. Very disappointed with the homestay.

Very good Ambience. Superb food. Always warm food serves to guest. Tara bhai and Bhabi very helpful. I enjoyed there a lot. I must visit Here again. Thanking you for all your service which provided to us. We got homely atmosphere.

I stayed for a day, found rooms were clean, hot water was not a issue- geyser working (very much essential at this cold windy place). Staff and in particular Mr. Rishov is very professional and helpful. Homestay is close to the Neora valley, is very much recommended to birders. Plenty of bird activity can be sighted from balcony itself.

I would highly recommend this place and I would definitely want to come back to this place again.

My stay was excellent. The rooms have a certain charm in them. The homestay offers excellent rooms in reasonable prices. The rooms are comfortable, affordable & they feature excellent viewpoints.

Excellent in every way! The rooms offer some mesmerizing viewpoints. The beauty of Kanchanjangha can be experienced right away from the balcony.

Excellent place, position is just awesome, staffs behavior is very helpful, fooding quality is just like home and price is very marginal.overall a best stay in lava.

Lava - Rishop region. We had experienced a warm welcome, budget-friendly stay, well-organized tour, homely-cum-tasty food and tremendous help in various situations (such as train cancellation and extra stay)! The homestay is located just beside the Neora Valley Entry point (4min walking distance from Lava Monastry and Lava Bazaar). The rooms were clean and the staffs were amazing. The cafeteria (Lava Junction) at the top of the homestay is thoroughly designed and serves a large range of food n beverages. Special party was arranged for the students. We have visited many places for sightseeing as part of the tour package and all of us have enjoyed a lot. The car facility, pick-n-drop services were flawless. The homestay is already popular and has earned a good range of positive reviews from the guests.
We too, are satisfied with the services provided and highly recommend this homestay for anyone (couple, family or large group) visiting Lava- Lolegaon- Kalimpong -Rishop region in coming days.

Feathers India Homestay at Lava. Situated just in front of Neora Valley gate. It is birder paradise. You can see more than 30 species of Himalayan bird just from this homestay balcony. Owner Tara Rai is very good person and has a vast knowledge of local birds.

A beautiful place to stay in close proximity of Neora Valley entrance. The rooms are warm and comfortable. I loved the sit outs to gaze at the sky, pine trees and the mountains. The food is homely as expected served hot. I recommend this place for the hospitality and the value for money.

The owner is very nice and professional.

The location and rooms were nice and reasonable priced.

নেওড়া ভ্যালি প্রবেশ করার একটু আগেই এই হোমস্টে পাওয়া যাবে।ঠিকঠাক দাম এর মধ্যেই থাকা ও খাওয়ার সুব্যবস্থা আছে।বিশেষভাবে যারা পাখির ছবি তুলতে ভালোবাসেন তাদের জন্য এটি একটি অনবদ্য স্থান হবে।

Excellent place. Simple but clean rooms. Good homely food. Excellent host. Tara is also a great birding guide. Great backyard which is full of birds. Must stay if you want peace. Must stay for birders. The homestay is at the edge of Lava. Away from crowds.
