The location is excellent, right beside the Ganga. The rooms on the first floor are big and airy.
The service and the food quality needs vast improvement.

Very poor management and slow service, laid back attitude of staff and complete mismanagement in the front desk. Not much options in food menu and extremely overpriced and bad taste, better to carry some dry food here.
Location wise houseboat offers nice views but rooms are a bit small but has all the necessary amenities. One night stay is sufficient in the houseboat.

This place in the heart of kolkata is a real beauty.
Please try this place for a 2 day weekend

Being located near the barrackpore cantonment this West Bengal touristy maintained resort is a good choice for a quick family get together, though a little overpriced but unlike the usual luxurious resort. Being situated along the ganga ghat house boat stay facilities are also available at a price of 4000 INR for a day, which is overpriced considering the fact that they aren't providing a strolling facility with the boat, a stagnant boat is equivalent to a room stay ganga facing (in my opinion). Talking of food quality, not satisfied honestly saying, but it's all in the ambience and the greenery along with sprinkles of historic idols.

Property under renovation. But worth visiting.

Stayed for one night, due to puja traffic jam, got caught up in traffic and could reach there only in the evening, so, we missed the spectacular sunset.
Also, one day is never sufficient for this place, so book at least two days. Local sight seeing can be done by taking a rental Toto (electric auto) or a rented car. But the places to be seen are very near by. Only problem is the location is little away from main road, so, either you have to walk to the main road, or call a car.
The river view is spectacular, as can be seen from my pictures. Rooms and amenities are of 3 star quality. Try to choose ground floor river facing rooms.
But, even with other side rooms, you have to walk maximum 20 meters to reach the river side.
Lots of renovation has been done and still going on.
Also, a launch jetty, is just 50 meters from the lodge, with WB GOVT is going to introduce launch services on payment from tourists.
But, one cannot view the sunrise, only sunset. Make sure you are ready with tea and pakora and your camera

Its a wonderful weekend gateaway just beside River Ganges. It has the Mangal Pandey park near it which is a lovely place. The cottages overlooking Ganga is wonderful.

An excellent experience overall. First to update on the location - this is on the bank of the river Ganges. Once you reach barakpore station, either tou can take an auto (30/person) or a reserved Toto (100) to reach. The rooms are top notch. The service is a bit delayed, but except that all is fine. Room is clean, well sanitized, provided with bath kits and other necessary goodies. Decoration is simple but elegant.

The resort and the location is beautiful but the bad maintainance is a put off. The food served is quite delectable and the kitchen staff is also good but the service of the resort staff is disappointing.

Its bit on the expensive end if you compare with hotels in barrackpore but the view and the experience is priceless.
Food is fresh and very good as well.
The only drawback is they make you wait like it is the 90s, i cudnt guess why! If possible carry some cookies or wafers so that you can keep you patience.

Good ambience. Courteous behaviour of staffs. I went with my 1 yr old baby. Staff was very co operative. Rooms clean. Other amenities well available. Food is tasty but costly

Very nice place, just beside Gandhi Ghat, there is a park also, adjacent to it, but around 200 MTR one has to walk. The area is just beside police station and training range. There is small jetty, accessible from property, used by police and a police launch kept in here.
Just off the BT road on left side if you're coming from shyambazar, Dunlop side.
G map, Hyundai navigation may show other path but don't follow (from VIP Rd) they routed me through new barrackpore bylanes which are vey narrow at times.

Barrackpore is the one of the most historical place in the history of freedom fighting movement of India and the Malancha Tourist Lodge (Now known as Mangaldhara Tourism Property) is situated in the lap of that Barrackpore Cantonment region. The mesmerizing thing is it's location, it is situated just on the bank of Ganges where in the opposite bank is another historical town Srirampore (Serampore) is situated.

Now coming to the property.it's absolutely well maintained by WBTDCL authority, the lobby, reception area, restaurant and specially rooms and all the amenities they are providing are simply awesome.

Overall my experience is nice, easily it could be a weekend destination for one or two nights, also you can go for day outing also. It's not necessary to book the room for day outing. Foods are almost homely, but lil bit in the higher side in terms of pricing.

I think it will definitely provide great weekend vibes to everyone.

If you stay in kolkata n want to go somewhere near kolkata for a day or two.this is one of the best places. It's so peaceful n the location is superb interms that it is located just beside the banks of Ganga. The only problem is the food which is a bit expensive and the options are a bit less.but the quality of food is good. The rooms are awesome.

It is beautiful place. Attending staffs very well behaved. ApproCh to resort needs immediate improvements.

Excellent. Specially Surajit, Sauvick and Santu make the atmosphere cozy and relishful though I feel there is acute shortage of staff and as such Front desk hospitality is poor. But due to above three gentleman, Malancha is rated excellent.

Name changed to Mangal dhara. Renovation going on. Didn't stay. Nice views. Restaurant staff overwhelmed easily. Had to wait a long time for food as we didn't preorder.

A nice place for weekend retreat in the lap of nature and river Bhagirati, well decorated rooms properly maintained and nice restaurant facility.

One of the best Govt. Tourist Lodge at Barrackpur river side (Hooghly River) with every great ammonites & foods. Must visit if you want a weekend trip.

Excellent place to visit. It's a Govt of West Bengal Tourism property. Lodge is on the bank of river Ganga. Probably 8 to 10 river facing rooms are available. River back facing rooms are also available at low cost. Well furnished rooms but maintenance is not up to the mark. Excellent food quality. Very friendly service staff. Maintenance of dinning area / space is not up to the mark. Very safe place within Barrackpore Army cantonment area. Annex to Gandhi Ghat Golap Bagan. It's an one hour journey from esplanade (Kolkata) by car. Excellent place to visit for one day and one night stay.

The place is realy peaceful area of any one come at there then take my opinion just go for there 1 time if you can

Fantastic location, well maintained, spacious rooms. Perfect destination for those looking for a weekend outing nearby. Bengali dishes are fantastic but didn't like the Chinese ones.

Beautiful ambience, well maintained rooms and excellent food. The garden could be a bit more well maintained though.

Wonderful place to spend ur leisure time. It's a West Bengal State property. Don't forget to visit nearby Lady Canning House and her graveyard.

Ideal place for day out with friends and family. Rooms are spacious with attached bath and all major amenities. Stay at this property is like living with the nature.
Foods are delicious and staffs are polite and gentle.

Excellent place to hang around and spend night with your family. The place is exceptionally suited for the older generation with the serene view of river Ganges, it just feels awesome.
