Amazing! Food was really good, Though the place inside is very small but it's kinda cool and good, service is also good. Their quantity of food is especially good compared to the price, It's perfect. A thumbs Up From my side.

Mandarin, to me, is a place that my father used to take me during my school days. Hence, a lot of nostalgia is associated with this restaurant.
Though the prices have increased, the services has worsened, but the food remains the same. This is a restaurant which will not allow you to try out varieties but stick to the normal course of Chinese dishes: a soup, a starter, a main course and a side dish.
It is nice to see this restaurant in 'great Chinese' collection segment.
Last month we ordered a family lunch. They made all the items extremely sweet. The taste was worst and instead of salt they mixed sugar in each of the items we ordered. Prawns were not deveined.
The food served to us on the table were sumptuous and extraordinary. But the ones that we carried home differed. Specially the prawns. The ones we ate at the table were of good size. The ones we carried home were actually shrimps, made to look bigger with additional cornflour batter. My question is: Why do you deceive your customers? Do you think shall we ever order you through any food delivery system or shall we ever take home a food packet after this experiece? Aren't you losing customers in such crooked practices? Please think about it.
The food quality and the overall amboence have deteriorated recently. But still it is a good place to have authentic Chinese food. The quantity is wholesome.
One of those places that have managed to maintain a large customer bank although their glory days are long gone.
The place might not be one of those hip and happening restaurants that attract millennials, still the quality and quantity of the food they provide manages to keep customers loyal, who return time and again to this gem of a restaurant.
Mandarin is a great place to have Chinese food if you're really into quantity and craving spicy food. It was a place from where we ordered a lot because of its large quantities.
The value for money of the food is okay but I and my friends had to go through terrible experiences such as finding hair strands and bits of tissue paper in the food
Food was good and the value for money. If you are 4 person, order for 3 only as they charge high and give more than enough. Say for example 16 medium big pieces of boneless chicken for Rs550 /- would be enough for 4 people. Some of the special Rice was awesome. Noodles was also good. Service was quick, staff are courteous, Food was nicely prepared and were tasty. Ambience is mediocre, just get in have your food calmly and come out. Fish fry was a bit oily but tasty. They should have served it on tissue or some sort of absorbing tissue. Would love to go over there again and again. Overall a nice experience if you are concerned about Mandarin style Chinese cuisine.
This is one of the very best place where you can find authentic Chinese for a competitive price. If you want to have Chinese then this is one of the most prominent place where you will get the taste of real chinese. The prices are a bit on the higher side but the quality of the food is extremely good. Will have to give it a 5 star rating
Great food, nice atmosphere and good prices for the various dishes. This restaurant has been here for many years and is one of the best Indo-Chinese restaurants in the area.
The ambience is average. The staffs were nice. The washroom is poor. The quality and quantity of food is good. We took half soup (more than enough for 2), half pepper chilli chicken fry (again enough for 2), full plate rice chicken noodles (good for 2) and half Mandarin's special chicken (8 PCs but not liked the taste). All together bill was ₹1136. Now you decide it's good to go for you or not.
A nice cozy restaurant situated near rabindra sarobar.can be spotted from the main road.decor is okayish.quantity of food served is more than enough for a single eater.also their starters are lip-smacking
The portions are huge and the food is delicious. The restaurant itself feels perhaps a little cramped but the food more than makes up for it. The half plates here are more than full portions in most restaurants.
Possibly Kolkata's best Chinese food restaurant. Still run by a Chinese family. Food quality, quantity and pricing are exactly what you would wish to be.
Mandarin was the first Chinese restaurant in South Kolkata. I know the place for last 50 years. A restaurant that has retained its popularity for five decades, doesn't require comments on how good it is
This restaurant is one of my favorites, so the review may feel a bit biased. I come here often, given I'm in town, with my friends and we never come back hungry. Quantity is humongous, a full plate soup can almost feed 6 people. And the food tastes really great. One of the best Chinese food I've ever tasted. After a walk in the Lake or a Shopping spree, or anytime you want to, stop by and fill up.
One of the oldest Chinese restaurants in South Kolkata. Still retains the old Kolkata charm and evokes Tangra (Chinatown) in upscale Southern Avenue. Pricing is moderate. Portion size is incredible. Taste is great. You can't go wrong with Mandarin if you are looking for simple, good old Chinese food that doesn't burn a hole in the pocket.
This place has been around for decades. Food is delicious and very reasonably priced. If you like the typical Calcutta Chinese food taste, you have come to the right place. It is a little hidden gem at the corner of Southern Avenue and Rabindra Sarobar. I tried thief place after 20+ years, and didn't disappoint. Definitely recommended.
The quantity provided is way more than what one will expect at the price charged. Although the ambience for a sit in dining experience can be improved, for a take home, Mandarin is highly recommended. Good food and value for money pricing!
We ordered chicken clear soup half plate. Mandarin special chow and garlic fish. The staff was courteous. Made good suggestions. The quantity was actually more for 2 people sufficient from 3 people. They actually gave less salt and added no sugar in the food as requested. The price is very reasonable for the quantity and quality of food. The ambience is good. A great place to relax and eat. I would go back again for a meal.
Reference: 05/05/2019,09: 15PM, WORST STAFF BEHAVIOUR, EVER! This place has jumped gone down the drain in terms of food quality and customer service and staff behaviour, better they convert it into a cheap takeaway, because thats how it felt only bothered about takeaways, rest can go to hell, its open season it you are patron, family have been coming to this place for more than 4 decades, won't recommend this place to anyone, pay to get insulted and talked down to.
