Marco Polo, Park Street

I tried chicken stroganoff dish.tatse is depend upon the user as its an European dish but for me its ok.but the major issue i found here the bottle water they gave me is 1 litre Aquafina water bottle which is MRP ₹20 written on the bottle but they have charged ₹50 rupees for that when i ask them they are telling some establishment cost is added in the water bottle. How a product they are giving directly to a customer with the MRP 20 and in the bill they are mentioning ₹50 rupees.its completely illegal. They should maintain some authenticity. Also i am attaching the bill for that.

Ambience - 4/5, loved the ambience. The decors, tabke chairs, lights. Everything.

Food - 4/5, took a little time to get food ordered. We ordered Chicken stroganoff, cantonese rice noddle, singapore rice noodle. Taste of every item is good.

Staff- very politely behaved. 5-6,
overall- good good

3. Bhetki ala Mueniere
4. Chicken Steak Poivrade

Except for the last one, everything is super good. Their plates are ugly and you probably wont get good pictures of the dishes that get served to you. Definitely is a downside. The staff here is so bad and weird (especially the bartender). Food is great so people are still coming in but given the weird behaviour, I dont think for long given that on Christmas eve when other restaurants in Park Street was overflowing and had a minimum 30 mins wait - this place (with about 7 tables) had a table available.

One of the best Chinese restaurant in park street area. They has two tier indoor seating arrangement. Has cool and comfy interior. Has a wide variety of veg and non-veg Chinese dishes, they have dedicated bar menu as well. Food is delicious. Barbeque honey chicken is a marvel as a starter. Seafood rice and qhi zhou chicken makes a great combo. Caramel Custard is a real disappointment. Price is on excessive higher scale. It's a good place to satiate hunger but you have to be ready to spend extra bucks for that. Staffs are cordial.

Very nice ambience, spacious and great friendly staffs. Murg Malai Nazaqat is a must try. Had a great time there. The quantity and taste of all the dishes are also very good.

The ambience is good. Staff behaviour is also good. We normally go here with friends and got tables. We never faced much rush. Sometimes we have to wait for sometime but that is minimal. I like this place. Food quality is good. Cost is bit high but based on ambience and quality time spent with friends, I feel that is worth the money.

The place is a little dim light ambience, not much ppl visit here anymore as there are other options in park street. We visited the place with family, dim light instrumental music n good food. All food are not that good but if u happen to visit must try their chelo kabab it is simply amazing.

Main course was good. Fish starters average. Mocktails are pathetic. Didn't try chicken or lamb starters, so can't tell about those.

Once upon a time Marco Polo was the name which people used to showcase their social staus. Till today it is so symbolic that if someone is having a meal there that means he/she beyond average or may be a bit more than that.
But let me tell you at present these are all myths and not facts. It was one of the most extravagent restaurants of park street 11 years back when I started my corporate career and had a chance to enter and had a meal with friends. While entering inside the restaurant today with my wife I had the same level of excitement. But alas! It all went in vein when the service started.
We wanted to sit at the first floor and they said "sorry Sir, we are closing". I was shocked and asked if we entered outside of the working hours (it was 3pm) and they pointed us a table at the groundfloor (or I should say underground floor) which was just infront of the staircase without even bothering to answer our question. We were not ready to sit there so they put us in another table that was again not worth mentioning. The most ridiculous part was mosquitos were hovering around behind my back. No sanitizors available on the tables forget about masks. I am very happy with the hygene level maintained by small restaurants than this funny place called MARCO POLO.
Now lets talk about the food. We asked a very simple question to the waiter who was taking our order, "What is the best dish of Marco Polo? " and the answer was rather shocking, "Nothing Sir". Seriously! May be he wanted to say "we are good for nothing sir".
Anyways we inquired about some platters and finally decided to go for Chelo kabal and Lamb gourlash. We orderd mocktails as well. A blue lagoon and a vergin mojito. Though vergin mojito could have been better but still mocktails were nice and refreshing and delivered quite fast which was nice (expected a better presentation though).
After few minutes the main course came and the quantity was so very less that it would definitely not going to be sufficient for even one person. Chelo kabab tasted nice but nothing compared to the legendery Peter Cat. Two half coocked tomatoes were placed on the plate which they might have forgotten to roast properly. Even a roadside eatery has better roasted tomatoes available in their dishes. Lamb gourlash's quanity was so ridiculously meagre that one person could barely feel anything went inside the stomach. Gravy of the lamb tasted nice but carrots inside were so uncooked that you can feel it while munching. Within 15 minutes (I checked my watch) we had our dishes empty and ready to go out as quickly as possible without wasting a single minute there as moquitos started having their lunch on my back.

No mouth freshner no tooth picks and no thank you. Thats all folks! End of great MARCO POLO experience.

Pocket pinch: Rs. 1400 for two if you go for two platter of meal and mocktails. But you have to eat again outside so better to add that amount as well in the total expenses.

P. S. Do not ger carried away by the photos. The food quantity can only be understood once it served.

Went there on a puja evening and surprisingly got seats without even waiting for a single minute when other restaurants having a long queue. Even for other days when few of my other friends visited them, they also got their seats pretty quickly. So it will be a very good option for lunch or dinner on puja days. Also during 2021 puja days, they were not charging any coverage money while most of the other bars nearby were doing so.

Now, let's have a chat about their ambience first. It's a decent looking restaurant, having two storied seating arrangement. Ambience wise, it's very calm and beautiful, so if you like that sort of a place then I'm sure that you are going to love it.

Then up is the options available on their menu. Good thing was that they had kept their original menu even on the puja days and not those modified tiny puja special menu and stuffs. So for that too i liked it.

Now let's talk about the food taste and quality. We had Chicken malai kebab, pepper garlic chicken as starters. Both of these are good in taste, also quantity wise they were alright.
But I didn't like their Mocktails, the blue lagoon and Virgin mojito were average in taste where as Mediterranean beauty was very bad in taste, so that's a downside which i felt.
In the main course we had chicken stroganoff and their signature dish chelo kebab. Both of these were good in taste as well as in portion size. So liked that too.
As dessert, we had chocolate mousse as they didn't had Darshan with ice cream available. I found it's consistency to be more on the softer state, would've loved it if it was a bit more dense.

At last let's talk about their serving. Their staffs were very helpful and courteous. They even helped us choose the dishes according to our liking. So a positive point to them for that.

Overall a good enough experience, would love to visit again.

The ambiance was cute. But the issue is the food was not served hot. No one wants cold food served at a restaurant.

No crowd management, no social distancing in waiting area, not check for masks, too much chaotic, covid protocols were not maintained. Disgusting.

Ambience is good, Some foods are good in taste. But some problems disappointed me, they don't change the plate after finishing one dish, and the 2nd problem is the quantity of foods.

Very poor service (given they charge a mandatory 10% extra service charge). Had us waiting for long and on top of that took incorrect order. Wouldnt recommend.

Its a good place for dine with friends and family. Behaviour of the staff of this restaurant is also polite.

Worst restrurent compare to their price and ambience, disappointed. Yesterday i went there for first time and off course for last time, never will go. Food quality is very bad in terms of test and serving. We have ordered couple of starter, chicken drum stick is one of those dish, in don't know it was really chicken or made with something else it has wired smell and vise versa rest of the menu also not good. And they will not give fresh plates when they will sever new items, that is very bad. I understand people went there not for eating only for showoff.price is too high for food compare to quality. If dicided to go there think multiple time becasue it's weste of money only. Other authentic Kolkata restrurent like Mitra cafe, Bhajohorimanna, Anadi, Aminia, Siraj ect are way heighr there these kind of restrurent.

If you want to dine in a classy posh restaurant but don't want to spent more this place is the right one. The place is less crowded and you may not experience long queues.

One of the oldest restaurant in Calcutta, given the fame and location this place has, it can do so much better with an imaginative staff. Food was delicious and they served on time however the staff at the entrance and the floor manager need to work on their behaviour required to represent hospitality especially an Iconic Restaurant like Marco Polo. Reached there around 3 and said we are 4 and 2 people are on their way and join us soon. To which he refused to give us seat for 4 even after requesting. Although we could have at least ordered food which would take time too. We did mention that some of your Zomato reviews has got same complaint and take the feedback on positive note however that didn’t make much difference to them. Make sure you provide training to your staff on behaviour and let us work together on heritage and culture of Kolkata.

One of the oldest restaurants in parkstreet, kolkata, Marco Polo serves a wide variety of dishes in north indian and asian cuisine. Food is tasteful with good old calcuttan decor. However, they take bit long to prepare and serve food.

Ambience is superb.staffs are so polite in nature and they elaborate all the queries related foods and beverages.food quality is also up to that mark.

Really liked the ambience, hospitality and food. Bar prices are affordable. Food quality and quantity is more than enough. I'd say it's a must go place if you ever feel hungry amidst the huge buildings of park street, kolkata.

Good restaurant with good staff behaviour. The best this is fast service, you don’t have to wait a lot for your order. Mocktails options are limited. Ambiance is nice and cozy but due to it’s location you can see people walking outside. Pink heaven mocktail is nothing but strawberry shake that was disappointing.

It is a shadow of its former excellence. Food is average and also the people there are rash and it feels they are rushing the service.

Nice ambiance and decent behaviour from the people. We ordered lamb dishes, rice, and chow. All the items were carefully prepared with superb quality.

The decor is Classy, the ambience is warm. The dining (I had lunch) experience was very much appreciable.

A fine day for catch up with old friends and Cherishing the old times at a age-old place over a pint of Beer in the weekend is always fun.

The taste of the food was good & the Quality was also quite good.

-Is it overpriced?
-Heck ya it is. But considering the ambience and the place I could say its worth it.

And yes they do charge 10% Service Charges not Service Tax.

We waited almost for 30 min for our main course and my daughter got one string of hair in her starter please maintain hygiene and also maintain the costumer survice give the food on time.

It's was a Tuesday evening, and I ran over to this place to give a surprise birthday party of my college friend with the help of his Batter-half. I was supposed to have a vegetarian diet that evening hence ordered mixed vegetable soup and some mixed vegetable starter.

What I got on my table after ordering was not upto the mark neither the preparation nor the taste. Would recommend never to try out mixed vegetable starters or mixed vegetable soup.

However in the main course the daal makhni was decent and saved the day for me from the butterflies in my tummy.

May be next time the experience will better.

One of the biggest disappointments during this trip. What used to be an elite place to socially connect has become a cheap joint. Very disappointing indeed.

Marco polo.a eating place with exact atmosphere, quality hospitality and brilliant meals.specially barbeque smoked fowl and biryani are great.their lamb arrangements also are very tasty.need to go there over and over.

The food was ok type, was very surprised to relalised the falling of quality food. Didn't like food and crowd at all.not worth charging 10% service charge.

Good ambience. But they charge an extra 10% as service charge and they don't give the option to opt out of it. Other restaurants who charge this gives the option to opt out. It will be appreciable if Marco Polo does so.

Food is really tasty. Quantity of food is not worth the price charged though. And they've discontinued the Continental Cuisine, which was actually one of the best things about this place.

Well we went to have lunch and they particularly mentioned there won't be any Indian or tandoor dish.they can only serve Chinese which we had no issues.but the most annoying thing was they kept on saying that they'd charge 10% extra on the bill as service charge.
They'd not need to repeatedly inform this, we get it on the first time only.the foods were okay type, not extremely delicious.though I liked the ambiance.

Marco Polo is located on the busy Park Street in Kolkata. The ambiance is good and spacious.

I went there for the Chello Kebeb, a combo of chicken, mutton seekh, egg sunny side up and butter rice. The meal ended with delicious brownie with ice cream.
