Minerva Theatre

Rating the iconic Minerva Theatre a 4/5 because of its prestigious heritage. The theatre is fully air conditioned. The seats are comfortable. And the ambience gives old Kolkata literature-and-play vibes. Not giving it a 5/5 because of the lack of maintenance. Spotted a few broken chairs.

One of the oldest, apparently very beautiful with its architecture but inner materials are somewhere broken. Much maintaintainace is necesaary

Medium sized theatre, good for small to medium programs. Has the vibe of old times. Maintenance could have been better.

Built in 1893, Kolkata's Minerva Theatre is a theatre. It was built where the Great National Theatre had stood on Beadon Street. 'Macbeth' was the first drama performed on this stage. Initially, Nagendra Bhusan Mukhopaddhaya was the owner. It experienced several ownership changes throughout time. It is well known that Sri Girish Chandra Ghosh had his final grand performance at this theatre. A fire destroyed "Minerva" in 1922. In 1925, after renovation, it reclaimed its prior position and play performing resumed. The Minerva was one of the locations for the first motion films in Bengal, produced by Hiralal Sen, along with the Star and The Classic Theatre.

As a Theatre lover, visited this space several times to watch a play. Love its antique architecture along with the modernity inside the auditorium. Although the seating capacity and the stage size is little less than some of the bigger auditorium in city, however, the ambience is amazing. You get the feel of 19th century Bengali Theatre era. Also the staffs are quite helpful.

The iconic theatre is still surviving but not updated befitting it's historical importance। Ok types

Yesterday we visited Minerva Theatre to watch a drama called "Ami Pluto". It was a nice experience. The ambiance of the theatre is nice. The seating arrangement, air conditioning everything was very comfortable.

After the renovation it's definitely one of the the best theaters in Kolkata, good sound, good visual from different angels and the green rooms are good.

Situated in well-known place of north kolkata.its better than earlier.sound system is okay.sitting arrangements are good.but it's needs proper maintenance.

থিয়েটার টার আভিজাত্য আছে ঠিকই কিন্তু দর্শক তেমন হয়না, (মিনার্ভা রেপার্টরি এর show ব্যতীত)
আর গাড়ি রাখার ব্যবস্থা ভাল নয়!

Theatre hall where Sri Girish Chandra Ghosh, Nati Binodini, Sri Utpal Dutta and many more plays theatre. Burnt ou hall was renovated with all modern facility but with its heritage look

It is a good theater hall launched so many famous play like kollol by plt etc hall is situated in very old portion of North Kolkata.

The oldest living Theatre Hall in North Kolkata situated at Beadon Street. It has both name and fame. It arranged all time famous theatres namely Onger, Ferrari Fouz, Tiner Talwar and other theatres produced by PLT headed by Great Utpal Dutta. After renovation, some shows are going on by some Theatre groups in a regular way

The place is Good, You can find A restraunt 'Blue moon' near it and a small temple of Lord Hanuman near Ticket counter

It is a historical place and heritage pla -
ce also. We the people who lives from the time of Jab Charnok likes very much this place. Post from Ranen Dey a senior citizen lives at the adjoining area.

It have a long history on Indian art and culture.and famous also.this is the place where many famous artist were born

But still sound is not upto the mark.

Minerva Theatre is one of the oldest Theatre Halls of India. It has also a historical background. There are so many dramas and so many famous and renowned actors and actress performed at that Theatre Hall. Actor like Chabi Biswas, Jahar Ganguly, Ahindra Chowdhury, Naresh Mitra, Satindra Nath Chatterjee, Utpal Dutta, Rabi Ghosh, Sekhar Chatterjee, Saruja Bala Devi, Sove sen and a lot of actor, actress
entertaind the audience wih their excellent and talented performance. Once upon a time Minerva Theatre was the attractive cultural place of theatre lovers. Even Sree Rmkrishna Dev visited at Minerva Theatre for viewing the famous drama written by incredible writers. Minerva Theatre Hall situated near Beadon Street and Chitpur Road. On the other hand Garanhatta Street, famous immetations
manufacturing centre is adjacent to Minerva
Theatre. After all Minerva Theatre is the part
of Bengali life.

Good Auditorium for performance but biased system so you won't get the chance here everytime you apply for this hall. Sometimes you will notice that for some ghostly reason someone have got the opportunity though you have applied first!

Remake of old one with new technology. But I missed old one very much. There was lot of memory of me with it.

A heritage theatre hall at the heart of Kolkata where regular / occassional plays and functions are held. Stalwarts of Bengali theatrical and cinematic personalities of yesteryears and contemporary have had performed and do perform here.

Located in Beadon Street, north Kolkata, Minerva Theatre is renovated and very well equipped for all types of plays. This hall is very much traditional and many renowned artists staged famous plays, which have won accolades.
