A great experience with nice decoration.it's so good to see n having delicious food over there.they are providing continental food n it was so mouth watering.
It's an fancy restaurant in Kolkata, and in the main Park Street. They have variety of vegetarian options too and its must worthy to spend on the same, I would recommend to try their sizzler. Staff is very polite and helpful too.
Classy, yet affordable. Great place for family dining and meeting up friends. Atmosphere is Manhattan-esque with 90s jazz in the background. Table space may be made larger for couple seatings. Food is delicious and the staff are courteous and quick on their feet. Must try their Chicken Pavlograd.
Pathetic food, we ordered murg musallam, kababs and chef special some dish in orange gravy. 1- Pathetic murg musallam 2- They told us there will be asparagus and all in that chef special, there were no asparagus and the taste was like ketchup. This was my second visit to Mocambo And it disappointed me big time, never gonna go again.
One of Kolkata's most iconic and old restaurant. I had high hopes visiting here but I was somewhat not impressed with the whole atmosphere we experienced. The food that we ordered were pretty much their specialty along with glasses of Virgin mary which didn't taste as it's supposed to. We had Chicken A la Kiev which tasted really nice. We also ordered steak with mashed potato.
The thing that concerned me the most was the lack of respect from the staff and their somewhat off putting snobbery that left a bitter taste in my mouth.
Mocambo - Park Street. Excellent food - as far as Steaks & Sizzlers are concerned. But when we had the much hyped dishes - Devilled Crab & Prawn Cocktail, we found them too bland. Develled Crab had little or not much meat - only a lump of cheese/mayonese (?) / sauce ensemble. Very dissapointing, more so because the 2 pieces with their content & quantity was much too pricey. Even Prawn Cocktail was not that tasty, as was told by some others - just a few small prawns in mayonese (chat) masala sauce! Also Mushroom Garlic Prawns were not very appetising. Mocambo Park Street Mocambo, Park Street, Kolkata
The place was a bit congested. Quick service. Fish steak sizzler had a pungent smell. Chicken meuinere was soft and creamy.must try. Baked alaska.overhyped Beverages were really average.
Old iconic and very popular restaurant of Kolkata, a must try for everyone. Recommended dishes are Chicken Ala Kiev, Chicken Steaks and Chautribriand Beef Steak and others grills as well as Spaghetti Bologenese and on the Indian section a must try is Prawn Malai Curry and Mutton Mocambo are Chicken Tandoori
Old delight as usual. But for a change we could procure a sit right away without any waiting time. Off course tried the Ala Kiev and beef stake. Baked icecream was also delicious.
I would give the steaks a 5 star. But not their service. We ordered spaghetti, but instead the dish was served with rice noodles. So we returned the dish. That was disappointing.
Experience has been mostly pleasant. Staff is professional and the place has quite an old world charm. Food is appetizing specializing in continental fare, however some of the dishes especially Italian are not authentic and seems derived to indian taste.
Food is great. Staff service is great. Nothing to complain about! Be sure to try their sizzlers. They do have other specialities as well. You can chomp down on some deviled crabs and chicken-a-la-Kiev. In short, Mocambo will never let you down!
Well, it's Mocambo. This time, I wanted the Chicken ala keiv specifically so I ordered it. It was quite good, except there were no mashed potatoes but boiled pieces. Not much of an oversight. The dessert was good. All the other times I've been here the food has been quite good. Fills you up completely. Overall, not overrated at all.
Today just couple of hours ego i was going this resturent with my mom and order continental food fish steak and chicken garic steak but both dish is cold and my mom fish steak so cold she got little bit stomack problem, i am afraid near future my mom do not get any problem god i never go this resturent
Hipe is more for this place. So I've visited. After waiting for around 1 hour, we're able to get in. Foods are good & unique. Liquors are very costly here. Staffs are not that fast that's why I think long queue is always there outside. For me they took around 20 mins to get the bill only. Too much time wasted.
It was my first time in Kolkata and I was hyped about this place. Wait time of close to 45 minutes increased my intrigue. We went in and the ambience was charming. It had an old school with modern touch kind of vibe. We ordered Deviled crab, mutton cutlet and another dish which was forgetful. Deviled crab was the standout dish, from it's presentation to it's taste, was a delight. The cutlet was solid as well. However, waiting for close to an hour to get perhaps killed the appetite. We didn't order anything else. Will I be visiting the place again, definitely yes. But am I willing to wait for an hour to get in. No.
Utterly poor experience. Can't comment about the food because I never got in. The restaurant confirmed availability and barely 2 mins later, when my wife and I reached the gate they said '5 couples just walked in' and that we need to wait 20 mins.
Asked him politely to take my number down and give me a call when seat for 2 is available and the guy just plain refused. Asked me to return in 20 mins.
Zero for customer service, transparency, politeness. What a sham!
Food was great, good ambience. Place is nice though prices are quite high as per the quantity but tastes real good.
Would recommend but not budget friendly as such price point view. Can be visited in special occasion. I went for 31st December dinner date with my husband so was good for the quality of food and ambience.
I know this place is one of Calcutta's favourite and I had tge same expectations when I stepped in. But was disappointed. Hospitality and service were very nice but the major disappointment was the food. Had ordered a devilled crab, fish florentine and pork cutket. Barring the crab, everything else was super salty and filled with only cheese and mayo and hardly any other ingredient!
Mocambo: the Gem of Park Street since 1950s. Undoubtedly, one of the most classic and sophisticated restaurants of Kolkata! Highly appreciated behavior of the staff, excellent and calm ambience in which you could spend quality time with your friends, family or dearest ones. Last but not least, dishes are well served and finger lickin' good! Will definitely visit again. Just go and try!
The ambience is quite good. The quality of food and quantity is also quite good. The service is bit slow. There is a quiet good range of foods available. The price is also ok.
While its so called heritage resturant its untidy.some items are ok but nothing extraordinary.one can make out easily that certain indegrends used for preparing food items are not good.
Its my first and last time i visited this place.
Not recommended at all from health and hygiene perspective.
Apparently, Park Street is incomplete without Mocambo. In all its royal glory, Mocambo adheres to the imperial etiquette. For some of us this might be claustrophobic but for many this presents the nostalgia once held by restaurants in the past. The food is quite good. Few famous dishes chicken cardon blue, chicken supreme, fish florentine, chicken a la kiev, fish wellington, baked alaska
I always prefer to visit small not so famous places but I heard this place recently got some award. I know it is very well known name in restaurant industry but never got a chance to visit before. My only review is the place is clearly "OVERHYPED". Every dish that I tried average or below average. Beef was stringy, baked Alaska was just a bad tooty fruty ice cream. Service was very slow, there was people waiting outside, still we got our bill more than 30min later of finishing our meal after asking three times! The Waiter who brought our bill stood there for tips, but tips are given because of service, and it just a bad hospitality. Total disappointment.
Fairly, a 4 star for today Couldn't give a 5 star as didn't really get what we asked for. We had to order a substitute coz they didn't have what we wanted. A good experience altogether, continental is amazing. Great service as well.
Food test is ok ok, over hyped restaurant over priced food items, fish sizzler was not at all good, they changed the entire dish and gave new fish sizzler that what I liked, over all, nice place if anyone likes to spend lot of money for lil quantity.
This place serves delicious food but they charge the packaged drinking water bottle price rs 40 greater than the actual MRP. This is something to be taken care. But the taste and quality of the food is really good.
A must visit restaurant for really tasty culinary delights. You can also catch up a drink or too. Covid protocols were taken care of well. Highly recommended.
A regular at this restaurant. Seen it maintain it's food standard and courtesy. They do follow covid norms and also Govt rules of closing at 8pm. Last order is taken at 7: 45pm.
Mocambo has always been a delightful eatery for a meal.the prepatation, the service n etiquette from in charge to a simpleton has always been welcoming with simple suggestion.may their new venture soon "PETER HU? " down the same road be equally successful.enjoy the ambience n dish preparation n service. Luv. Neogi, Southcity5
I have been visiting this place for almost 16 years. I still swear by its Amazing ambience, warm service and excellent food. Its devilled crab, veg surprise and chicken a la Kiev are to die for.
It's not a restaurant. It's a cultural milestone of Kolkata.that bears testimony to the myriad parables and profound paradigms of Love and Humanity, of my dear Calcutta!
We went on Sunday around 2pm. Had a waiting time of 1 hour. The food quality was not up to the mark. A lot was expected. Specially fish wellington and sizzler with bacon, sausage etc were terrible. There was a weird smell. The best one was the brownie with ice cream.
We ordered four items - a pork cutlet, a mutton sizzler steak, a chicken pavlograd, and a fish Florentine. The fish and the mutton were quite nice but the taste went downhill with the pork cutlet and chicken pavlograd. The worst was the chicken which was in a sea of butter and was salty like the sea as well. Overall a nice place to visit to satisfy your continental food cravings. Service was reasonably fast and efficient as well.
Absolutely must visit.carrying a part of history of kolkata.sizlers at its best. We have tried fish fingers.beautiful.tasty.also offers alcohol.beautiful ambiance.staff s r so good. My kolkata, My Mocambo. Park strett.love.absolutely love.
It was a nice experience. The service was very fast. Food was delicious. Overall dining experience was nice. Need attention- If you want to dine at Mocambo, you have to reach atleast 1-1: 30 hours early, specially if you are planning to do lunch or dinner. Else you have to stand and wait outside.
Advice- Should start pre- booking system. It will reduce chaos outside.
Mocambo was in my list for a very long time but then pandemic happened and we don't eat outside frequently anymore. Anyway this Wednesday we decided to give it a visit as it was our anniversary as well. The place is classy no doubt. We ordered devilled crab as usual and it was their signature dish too. I DIDN'T LIKE IT! I don't know why almost everyone on internet suggests to try it but we didn't like it. Next we had Chicken A la Kiev. This was genuinely good. The Irish beef steak was also not bad and lastly we tried the baked alaska. We liked that too. Now the main thing is that we had so much expectation from this classy old restaurant but they disappointed us! First of all portion wise I would say most of the dishes were overpriced. The hype the created about Devilled crab was not at all good. Though rest was good but nothing too extraordinary. I would say you can give it a try if you want to. My expectation was high but failed me. Anyway staffs are taking care of all the measurements during covid that's a plus!
This was one of my favorite places however af post lockdown visit I am taking it out of my favorites. Food quality has degraded, ordered chicken lollipop, murgh musallam, garlic naan and chicken fried rice; out of which only the strater was good, chicken was fresh and juicy, naan was fine and besides that the other two item's ingredients were not at all fresh, it was stiff hard to chew. In short major disappointment!
It was a pathetic food i was experienced in here. I was order Crabmeat and prawn Risotto but it was so bad that I can’t eat more then a half spoon. Firstly they use Basmati Rice instead of Arborio Rice. It was so dry, no taste, it was a pathetic Risotto i had over there. Its my opinion if you want to taste Italian food don’t go Mocambo Restaurant.
The goods 1. Good ambience 2. Different menu with a range of steak sizzlers and many more. 3. Covid norms being followed to some extent.
The bads 1. Washrooms not having water 2. Food seems to be unhygienic (had a bug in my tandoori) pic shared 3. Bottled water charged at 60₹ with MRP of just 20!
Overall food tastes good but comes with a dash of swag and attitude of the waiters!
A classic Kolkata restaurant. It's signature dishes remain forever pleasing to the tongue. Absolutely love the whole of mocambo's menu. And also you gradually fall in love with the ever busy ambience of the place.
Mocambo is one of the oldest, most popular restaurants of Park Street. Their food is still as good as it was years ago. But the thing that made me want to write a review is that they are the only restaurant I've been to in Calcutta that is maintaining social distancing - they have blocked alternate tables and have placed transparent barriers in between tables. They are not running in full capacity even though they are not required to do so legally. Thank you for your sincerity Mocambo!
Easy going choice with money and food. One of the famous restaurant at park street. Ambience is good + service is good and quick + food quality + food quantity. Nice taste in a less price. We ordered chicken peprica, risotto (8th number), fresh lime soda (sweet & sour) and ice cream cola. Peprica and risotto both dishes are itself under main course with a good quantity and taste. All are just amazing and in a less price -> total amount of bill 1082/=
One of my favourite restaurants in Kolkata. Situated at the heart of the city. Very popular and vintage restaurant. Continental foods are awesome. Must try for all foodies.
The taste of food is good but above that the ambience is very classy.if u want to have a feeling of getting connected to Retro Kolkata u would like it.
Great place. It goes down without saying the food was delicious. Service is commendable. Certainly they have reserved their originality throughout all these years. If you are in Park Street and you want to grab some dinner, Mocambo is your place to be.
Another slice of Kolkata's heritage. If you are not looking for authentic cuisine, you will enjoy the good just fine. Good for families and large gatherings.
We had chicken steak and risotto with ham becon etc. Check steak was good. Risotto was not made of arborio rice or anything similar. Hence, the texture of risotto was not what I expected. Again, I couldn't feel the flavor of permesan cheese. It tasted okay though. People already know that you have to wait in this restaurant if you come at the rush hour. Overall a nice experience.
Good service, superb - delicious food, good interior decoration. Good location. With parking lot. Highly recommended for elegant people. Sizzler, Chicken Stakes, Soups, Mocambo special Mutton, authentic continental food are big point of attraction.
Food is out of the box. Specially the tuna. Staff is good however, there seems to be a little bit of service issue as indian customers are given less importance
Won't say a very good place for a dine out or fall under the category of best fine dine resturants of the town with extreme good ambience! It was okaish sort of with pretty average food quality! Definitely there are far better options in town!
It's a overall rating. We have to wait 4 times more than that was told during registration on a wkday which I think due to mismanagement where they couldn't give proper estimate for waiting time. The sizzler was good. But we ordered tutti frutti which was horrible. Never had tutti frutti with banana before. No exotic fruit but full of banana, papaya and apple only. Ice cream also vanilla and strawberry flavor, no sauces.
Mocambo is located on royd street n Rafi Ahmed kidwai road junction, adjacent to tung Fong. The restaurant gives a great feeling of old times where one can spend a good family time or a lovely couple date. In appetizer I tried the Italian herb style garlic prawns (6 pieces), the prawns were tender, perfectly cooked and topped with a sauce. Then we got, chicken steak grilled as well as sizzler version of the same. In both the dishes the quantity of chicken was enough for a single person. The outstanding dish was the risotto with chicken liver (must try). For desert I tried the the baked Alaska, which unfortunately did not meet the expectations. None the less it was a good experience. Highly recommended.
It's a nice place with continental food. Moderately priced. We ordered angels on horseback and beaf steak and bloody mary. It took more than 40mins for our food to arrive. The bloody Mary wasn't that good. The risotto on angels on horseback was sour. The beaf was properly cooked and delicious.
Waiting time for having entry is more than hour which is not accepted and very worse. Time taken for serving the customers is beyond expectation. Overall I will not recommend to have dinner in this restaurant.
Situated in the heart of Kolkata that is park street, this place is highly recommended if you're a die hard continental fan. It's pretty economical and the ambience is very nice. One of my personal favourites. You have to try their chicken steak, if you're a meat eater and also chocolate souffle.
