Worst place to watch a movie! Worst crowd. Shouting at the top of their voice, using uncivilized slangs, no security to control, spoilt the entire atmosphere of a horror movie. Waste of money, unmanaged place.
Well maintained place, movie tickets comparatively cheaper as compared with other multiplex. Just by the side of main road hence well connected via all form of transport.
Nice ambience! But I'm cutting out one star because of the transport availability at night from there. It's so problematic to come from there to my home or near to sealdah or bidhannagar area. But the environment, the people in there and the lights were good
Quite liked the cinema Hall. Theme based Hall on legendary revolt poet Kabi Nazrul Islam and it resembles Nandan a lot in ambience. Individual halls have small sitting capacity maybe around 50-60 but the interior is great and sitting comfort is just lovely with cushioned recliners. The prices of tickets are reasonable and to be honest much less than what Inox and PVR are charging nowadays. Worth visiting
WOW! What a place really. " NAZRUL TIRTHO " located in Newtown, Kolkata, West Bengal. There is a lot to see here, including the statue of the rebellious poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and the library.
A nice auditorium and banquet hall to organize some program and different events. State Government has taken initiative to create this infra and facility at New Town, Kolkata, also they organise some events which are open for all and they also peridically telecasting few movies wherein spectators can buy tickets to view the shows,
I watched wonder woman 84 in this movie theater. I was the only one in the theater during lockdown. It was just me and Gal Gadot. Wonderfull experience. Wow.
A wonderful place. Ambiance and arrangements of the library with automated issuance and return of books work seamlessly. Book collection, hopefully will witness substantial additions. Theater Halls, Handicrafts Store, Exhibition of painting & other artwork, restaurant are added attractions.
In theater as screen wise it will nt give you the PVR or Inox feeling but in sound quality is best. Talking about the libray it's best. Like if u are habituated with the libray culture this place for u
Went to the library. One of the best I've been to. Nice ambience, good collection of books in both English and Bengali. One can issue books as well after becoming a member. However, you can buy a one-time ticket and visit the library as well.
There is a restaurant in the premises as well. Apart from that, they have a screening theatre. The entire premises is dedicated to Kazi Nazrul Islam. Must visit for a bibliophile and a classic movie lover.
This is an average theatre. There is 3 screens in this theatre. Sound system is quite good. But if you want to watch any 3D movie you should not try this theatre. The quality of 3D movies are unsatisfactory.
Good. Sound quality also good. Ticket range 140rs that is little bit cost. There is 3type of sitting arrangement. Silver, gold and premium. Silver is low cost. This place is good for everyone. Well maintained
In terms of architecture; the building definitely catch your eye. It had been designed by Architect Abin Chowdhury. Well organized spaces with multiple cultural activities. I been here multiple times, for movies only. Movies hall is having really high quality audio visual system. Definitely, you will love it. Most importantly; leg space is really comfortable, much larger spaces than regular multiplex.
Edit Nazrul Tirtha (Nazrul Pilgrimage) is a cultural and educational center dedicated to the rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The center is situated at Action Area 1, New Town (few meters away from Rabindra Tirtha). West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the center on 24 May 2014 to mark the occasion of the 115th birth anniversary of the poet.
The place is clean and cheaper than the other theaters. I like the place, seats are comfortable, great sound and clear picture. The waiting lobby is not air-conditioned thats the drawback of this theater.
Cheaper than other theaters but the seating arrangement is very bad and also the screen quality. Seats are very uncomfortable. May be that's why it's cheaper. Otherwise the place is nice for any school/college functions or hangouts.
Another great theater in Newtown. If you are a fan of good speakers, you should watch the movies here. The seats are not that comfortable and neither is the screen that great but the audio takes it all. They have Bose audio installed and I loved the movie with the premium audio effects.
Government owned property having multiple movie halls, open air theater space, cafeteria, exhibition hall, library etc in New Town, Rajarhat beside DLF
A government intiative to preserve Kazi Nazrul s work and original manuscript and houses a museum about the great poet and author. The same building also has a multiplex of 3 screens. My rating is primarily about the museum, cleanliness and extremely reasonable prices of movie tickets as well as the snacks (cafe ekante on the 2nd floor sales bhetki fish fry for RS. 100). However the projection audio system and screen size is nowhere near the Inox or other multiplexes level (and PVR is ages ahead than Inox so not even comparing with it). They use a digital projector to show the movie and it doesn't look to be a proper movie projector at all. Screen size is really small (comparing the multiplexes we are habituated with) and you would be better off opting for second or the third row from screen than the balcony or recliners. The seats are "best in the class" and the recliner is really good with proper spine, neck support (but due to the screen size visibility is not good from the recliners).
To summarise, an affordable movie watching experience with added advantage of getting to know about one of the most sought after poet of undivided Bengal, Kazi Nazrul Islam.
This theatre is at a stone throw distance from my apartment, so generally my obvious choice in terms of catching up the recent released movies. The tickets are affordable and generally at a much lower price than other theatres or multiplexes nearby. Though it's a multiplex yet it successfully retains a cultural flavor and touch.
Pocket friendly theater, plays English Hindi Bengali movies. Seats are limited though. Location is also nice, easy accessible. Garden is very beautiful.
I liked the place. I would love to go to this place to watch movies. The seats are very nice and comfortable. Audio is good. I watched the movie "Sweater" there. Outside there is garden, places to sit and chat. There are exhibitions held at this place.but probably monday that exhibition remains closed.
Spectacular infrastructure and one of the best cinema hall cum convention centre in NEWTOWN, it represents a great artistic and unique culture of Bengal and the named after the gr8 musician Najrul sir.
Apart from that it is the best and cheapest cinema hall in the whole city. Depending on the price they provide best facilities
It's basically an auditorium but puts up movies. Screen is a bit smaller aa compared to PVRs but the sound system is amazing. Bose speakers all around provides an excellent experience.
Nazrul Tirtha is located near DLF1 at Rajarhat near New Town bus stand. I have been there to watch a movie. Ticket price was at lower side compared to other theatres. But seats are not that comfortable. Screen size is kind of okay. Very less options for snacks. So I can't rate it more than 3-3.5 out of 5.
Well it's a government sponsored like well known Nandan. Well maintained place. Screen was good. Quality of seat is also good. Neat and clean environment. My last watch was Alita - Battle Angel. Though the movie was average but screen 1 experience was good. Moreover the ticket prices are pocket friendly. Good place to go for movie with family.
This is a multipurpose place. It has the following:
1. Three Screen Multiplex 2. Art Exhibition Centre along with a handicraft shop where you can buy variety of handicraft items indigenous to rural bengal. 3. An open air performance arena
Now let's go through each in detail:
1. Multiplex: Screen 1 is the largest and is on par with leading multiplex chains like inox, pvr, etc. It also has a stage attached to it where plays, or performances take place on special occasions. Screen 2 is much smaller but still ok. Screen 3 is the smallest of the lot and can't be called a movie theatre. It's manly a conference room with a projector attached to it. Sound and picture quality is top notch in all the three screens.
Ticket rates are pretty reasonable compared to other multiplex since it's a Government enterprise.
2. Art Exhibition Centre: It showcases paintings and handicraft items from rural bengal. There is option to buy them. It's got a nice collection and one can give it a try.
3. Open Air Performance Arena: Here live music performances take place.
Good movie theater with ticket prices always lower than other movie theaters in Newtown and facilities almost the same. Moreover, it's located at a very convenient and well connected place.
Value for money. Nice ambiance. Chairs are not much comfortable though. Snack option is limited. Good movie theater for Bengali movie lovers. Must visit for family.
The hall is decent. But the service at the food counter is not upto the mark. They will take so much time that you might end up missing 4-5 minutes of your movie after interval. Comparing the comfort of the seats and the sound quality, i would suggest to go for other halls like RDB or Bioscope or Inox, which might be more comfortable within the same price.
Loved the location.it will be superb once the metro is up and running.nice mosaic of kaji nazrul.great movie halls with awesome audio quality.only thing that can be better would be restaurant options.only kfc, a pizza place, ccd and a multi cuisine restaurant.a food court would help.this will help the office goers as well in the neighbouring dlf
Nazrul Tirtha is most likely cinema in 2D. Actually I was gone more 2D cinemas in Kolkata, New Town but Nazrul Tirtha is best other one because the picture quality is wonderful, Brightness is beautiful, The sound quality is marvellous etc. Ticket availability is good. Cleanliness is good by counter or online, washroom is very clean. All over Nazrul Tirtha is best for me or I think you also.
A nice place to see movies and you can really enjoy with your family members and the prices are also less compared to other nearby theatre, timings are little bit different they closes little bit earlier if they extend it then it would be a great. Mostly Bengali movies.
Originally a place for theatre, which has been converted to a movie hall. The place had a decent crowd and also offers movies at a pocket friendly price.
