The best place to stay in Kolakham. You get the best scenic view of the mighty Kanchenjungha from the window in the morning. The food is great.

Neora Valley Jungle Camp, in my opinion, is one of the best resorts to stay in North Bengal for a quiet, peaceful getaway.

Located around 6 km from Lava within the Neora Valley National Park, this hidden gem in Kolakham Village consists of 6 cottages, each spacious and beautifully done up. Considering the property is nearing 20 years, the maintenance has to be commended.

We stayed in Niltava, which is an attic cottage. It was huge with skylights and a wooden staircase leading up to a beautiful attic with a window that opens up to majestic views of Kanchanjunga (on a clear day). The highlight of the room is a glass room, which is a seating area overlooking the forest below and mountains as far as the eye can see. You can spend considerable time here, marveling at the view and getting a glimpse of some of the numerous birds that are there in the area.

The washroom has a geyser, and lighting within the room is adequate, with an electric kettle also provided. The access to the cottage is via means of rocky stairs, which is also true for accessing much of the resort, so that needs to be considered. The cottage Shama is the one that has the least stairs.

The property itself is a delight, and it is recommended to take a walk around it, going right up to the gate. You'll hear more birdcalls than you can count. The national park is ever present over the resort. Overall, it is possible to spend a relaxing, peaceful time at the property itself without having to go out, and you'll still have a fulfilling vacation.

I've left two of the best aspects for the last, first the food. It's very important to get this right since you'll not have alternatives around, and they have got it spot on. Prem and the cooking team do a fabulous job day in and day out, preparing mouth-watering meals that'll leave you happy and full beyond measure. They go the extra mile to ensure that you have the best possible experience.

Secondly the owners of this place are the most friendly and helpful people you'll meet. They'll be there for all your queries and be ready to help out wherever possible. They engage with the guests with their stories and experiences and make it homely. A big shout out, and thanks to them.

For activities in the area, you can hike/hire a car to visit the Changey Falls, take a safari into the Neora Valley National Park, or walk around the beautiful village of Kolakham and it's surroundings, it'll be worth it. Lava is near (and visible) so that's another option, but for those who just need to unwind and enjoy a peaceful getaway, beyond the crowds, I'd recommend spending time within and around the resort and you'll not miss anything. I can't wait to go back there.

Location is fantastic, the rooms are some of the best you will ever come across with fantastic balconies with viewing points for birds.

While you can also see Kanchanjang from here, it was cloudy so we didn't get to see it.

The food and hospitality of the place was also great. We all had a great time interacting with Aahana who works there and the staff who took care of all our requirements even at off hours.

The road to the property is not in good condition also the first look of the property is not impressive. But once we were in, we were pleasantly surprised. All the rooms are environment friendly but still have modern amenities. The wood work in every room gels with nature and you will enjoy the lack of concrete. Service is very polite, food is mildly spicy and very tasty. Many vegetables are grown in house and fresh. Lot of flora to explore around. Loved it.

If you want to spend your vacation amidst Nature, then this is the place. It us 7km off road from Lava. The view, hospitality, people are simply great. More than word can describe. The food served is locally grown, fresh, organic and mouth watering. I will definitely not forget this experience.

Excellent location, room, food, service & hospitality. Nothing to complain, except they should arrange for generator power to overcome instances of power failures.

The azure sky, the beautiful mountain and serene atmosphere make the visitor of this place near Lava to feel relieved far from the madding crowd. One can spend the time in his/her own free will. Trekking to Kolekham or Change may add more thrill to this experience. The hospitality of this resort is good enough.

Stunning Location, with wide views of Mt. Kangchendzonga and other snow peaks from all the six Attic and Dbl cottages.

Undoubtedly the best place to stay in Kolakham. Attic Cottages are best with 2 beds for 4persons at ease. Food was delicious and appetizing. On a clear day from each room you will have a view of Kunchenjungha. Flowers birds are the other attractions. It's a paradise for bird lovers. You can even spot lot of birds from the balcony of your rooms. Kolakham village is a 10minutes nature trail from the Resort. In short, it's a life time experience. Go for it.

A must stay in the lap of nature at kolakham. The wooden cottages will give you exotic feeling and you will love to enjoy the serenity from the balcony itself.in built resturant with good food. Staffs are all well mannered. All the sightseeing are nearby. A beautiful place to spend one weekend away from the hassles.

It is one of the last remaining pristine ecosystems of the Eastern Himalayas with its amazing Bio-diversity, and is home to many rare and endangered plants, animals and birds. It exhibits a rich variety of habitat as the area comprises the catchments and watershed of the Neora River with its tributaries. The Park with its dense forests is located on the tri-junction of Bhutan, Sikkim and West-Bengal. Though this sounds rather small, it has to be considered that due to the topographical features the surface of the Park is much larger.

Loved this place, spacious cottages with Attic along with a mesmerizing view of the valley and kanchenjunga (we were not able see it as we have visited early in the monsoon and weather was cloudy and the forest was closed too), food quality also extremely good, clean, and served in authentic copperwares (you can have fresh machh vaja, dal, posto, and other non vegs like chicken, eggs etc). Everyone from premji, Uday ji, Sukhendu sir each and every persons are very friendly and will help you in anything (staying to transport, sightseeing, other local events etc).
We will surely visit again, preferably in Winters
