No real complaints. Popular so cramped at even 16: 00. You do not want to be paying while someone is trying to get in or out. Clean and has wall fans. Not the most comfortable seating. Four small tables, five medium.
Dhaniya (coriander leaf) special masala dosa huge and tasty. But I found two ingredients in the stuffing odd. Well, new to me. One was a crunchy white vegetable. Turnip? And the green peas were also not 100% cooked. Is that possi le? A nice change for India actually. Soybeans also? Coconut chutney had insufficient black mustard seeds for me. Most sunk to the bottom which I also found odd. And it was thinner than I expected, by about 20%.
I made a mistake apparently. I thought I was ordering those crispy deep-fried lentil vadas but got the standard soft ones. I must learn the correct name.
Good service. Minimum 300 to use card (posted). Waiter was a bit clingy when it came time to pay (hanging around - clearly waiting for a tip - but he offered the shared tray of mouth-refreshing seeds without a spoon and anyway several persons served me). The manager seemed to be very slightly grumpy that I wanted to pay by card but he did not refuse me. It did take a very long time to process, like two minutes instead of two seconds. 'Slow server' was the excuse.
So, all the people are more or less pleasant, the atmosphere is OK, but the food is so-so (acceptable). Best was the sambar (soup). Lots of vegetables in it!
INR320 w/ taxes for a South Indian light meal and a snack
Don’t go there if are looking for a fine dinner. But if you are up for some lip smacking South Indian Veg dishes, then this definitely should be in your bucket list. The service is real quick. This is a very old place. But it is great to see that they are living upto the quality through decades.
If you love authentic south Indian food then look no further. Their idli, vada, dosa are just delicious Nothing can beat the taste of their sambhar. Would recommend highly to anyone.
One of the oldest restaurants in Kolkata. Located near Town School, just beside Arsalan Hatibagan branch. This particular restaurant is known for it tastier South Indian food. All types of Dosa, Idly, Uttapam, Vada etc.are available here.
️ Food quality is good ️ Service is also good Atmosphere could be better but it's okay for it serving time period.
It is short and sweet. The shop is literally so tiny, but it has all kinds of facilities with great South Indian food. The staff there were also very kind
Normally I am not a big fan of South Indian food, but went there due to my mom and dad. Trust me it's one of the best authentic South Indian restaurant. It is a small, cozy restaurant. The table are quite small but the service is quite good. The prices are also very reasonable. There are many kinds of dosas, idlis available. The taste is awesome. I tried special masala dosa and my mom and dad had plain masala dosa. Both were awesome. The special masala dosa had coconut pieces along with badam. I also tried kulfi, it was also great!
I visit this place only on the veg days like tuesday, thursday, saturday, or sometimes even after returning from Christmas carnival. I love the dhaniya dosa that is served here. Even the fried idlies are good. But to get a three-person dine-in seat is tough especially during peak times like durga puja, there is always a huge line trailing outside this restaurant.
Delicious south indian food. I liked their masala dosa. This is one of the favorite restaurant of mine & also their food (cheap price). Visited 10th times.also visit again n again.
The quality of food is quite good and the quantity is ample. The ambience is great, the behaviour of staff members are great too. The only thing that bothers me is the space is too small for too many customers to fit in.
A must visit if you want to try south-indian food. I've been going to this place since I was kid & somehow they have maintained the same quality & taste
Amazing place, best South Indian food I have ever had, specially their mysore chutney and special chutney a must have, polite staff. Overall a very good place.
I love eating my favourite, South indian Dishes here. Everything tastes awesome here. I love their services too. The crispiness of Dosa and the hot & yummy sambar tastes so damn good. Whatever we order here is absolutely delicious.i love to visit, "NEW MADRAS TIFFIN". My one and only favourite place ever
This restaurant offers delicacies mostly South Indian cuisine at affordable prices. Ambience is peaceful and good. One can have lunch or dinner with his or her family members after shopping at Shyambazar
The resturant is too short by space, infact tables are short that one will have problem to keep their dishes properly on the table. Quality of the food is average but they charge so high for no reason.
