B'coz of misplanning and lack of maintenance, the market is in a dilapidated condition. The vendors who were having flourishing business earlier in an adjacent market are now in a precarious situation.
It is quite sparse, most shops are not functional plus the wooden path that connects all the boats is in bad shape. In some places it is so bad that there is a chance of someone slipping and breaking a bone or two. Personally I feel it should be closes, renovated and made as splendid as it was when it was started. Beautiful concept though.
Patuli Floating market is very good. It has became a great daily income for many people even for daily customer who can get every item in one shelter. But definetly the Floating market vegetables price remain hike so reducing it like local market is my first feedback.
One of the most interesting markets in Kolkat which was built as a floating one on the water. There are boats which were supposed to float on the water while selling vegetables and other stuff but now it is almost lost its charm as the boats are now fixed with columns on water. There are mainly two entries on the market both from the right side and from the main road. There is availability of vegetables, fruits and fast foods during evening time as well. This place is close to the Patuli lake side and can be easily reached from EM Bypass, Saheed Khudiram metro station or Garia or New Garia rail station.
Beware of the wooden bridges, they may break anytime. The place as a market, has a variety of items and services for purchase. The place as a touring location, is not highly recommended, though the concept is somewhat unique, so I suppose it will be intriguing to first timers there.
Patuli Floating market is the Kolkata's only floating market - Bangkok-inspired. Fruits, vegetables, fish and other produce are sold on the boats by vendors who moved out from the Patuli VIP market. You can even get garments and a haircut here! The boats are connected by wooden pathways and are divided into sections depending on what they are selling and is 500 meters long and 60 meters wide. The market is open to all through the day from about 6 am to 9 pm. There have been a couple of issues {measuring and weighing veggies on boats for instance, and then there are hygiene concerns} but the market otherwise seems to be functioning in full force.

This place is lacking maintenance gradually it's loosing wow charm and cause accident due to poor maintenance. So whenever you guys go there put your steps carefully.
One of the best places to hangout in South Kolkata. Visit this place in the evening and it is buzzing with people all around laughing and chatting. You will find street singers and dancers here and there along with standard various food stalls. Nachiketa (tea stall) is very famous and you can have various types of tea and coffee from here. Other than this you can have pizza momos, kebabs, momos, rolls, ice-cream, corn and all other kind of delicacies and fast foods. Winter is the best time to visit here and enjoy your evenings. A place you must visit and enjoy.
Unique market place. But not so clean and visually pleasing because of the plastic covers and decoration of the shops. Not so busy with customers. Mostly people come to take photos.
The authority should immediately take steps to renovate this market. The wooden roads over the jheel are broken in multiple places and accidents may happen any day. People are avoiding the market due to this reason.
This so called floating market is located on the right when you drive from Ruby hospital on EM Bypass. There are shops on boats keeping fruits and other goods of daily consumption like vegetables fish snacks foods etc. You can approach the shops by a walkway. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and all shops were closed. There seems to be fishes on the water body. The water body is not well maintained and we even saw a half-drowned boat. This could have been such a better place! If this is maintained properly then definitely it will be a majestic view point of Kolkata.
The idea is unique and interesting but lack of maintenance fail it fast But I can say it's quite beautiful place to go for a evening walk if you have a good company or else it's boring I went there on 1st Jan and the side views lighting it had that time is good ️ so go visit it
The idea is good that's whay the two stars but the whole area is not maintained at all and it's reeks of bad smells. I think that if it would maintained properly then it would be a nice place to go and hangout.
I would suggest not to visit this market its a Highly Dangerous place, the wooden pathway is made up of inferior wood and regularly accident happens there the wooden plank cracks down, the shop owner are very upset for this and the customers count had drastically gone down. KMC should look into the strength of the structure immediately and should not wait for any major accident to happen.
Maintained by Kolkata Municipal Corporation, this local Market Place is an iconic symbol of utilizing waterbody for day to day life. Vendors are provided with boats and passage for buyers are made with wooden bridge over the local lake.
It's a unique content to be presented by KMC. Daily life groceries to snacks every things is available here. We visited after the lock down so it's little bit empty.
Nice place to spend with friends and have tea and snacks.
