It is a small park. Here The Sunset is looking awesome. You can spend time with your loved ones here under trees.it's open from 5 am to 11 pm. There is no entry fee or other fees. The right time for visit here is evening. You can enjoy boat riding here on hoogly river. Fees for boat riding is 400/- for 30 minutes. You can reach here by bus, taxi, cab and train. I think this place is specially for couples
Not very interesting You can take photos from one angle. But there is a park behind it. You can take a walk or relax. There were a lot of young people flirting with each other in the garden.
Loved the vibe of this place. A good place to chill and relax in the evening near the river. We have also taken an half an hour long boat ride that costs 400 rupees for two person (Well, we could have bargained). The boat ride experience was superb!
Nothing special about the place except the James Princep Memorial, and the scenic beauty of the neighbouring Hoogly bridge. The boat ride is a refreshing experience, but costs around ₹400 for 25 minutes only; so not recommended if you wanna save money. Also, it is quite far away from the metro line, and commute is kinda hard to get.
The area is beautiful especially at night when the lights are on. This area is soo soothing and peaceful. Although you will see couples all around, this place is perfect to visit with friends and family. The site is beautiful.
Amazing place for spending time with friends, family or your loved ones while witnessing the mesmerizing beauty of The Ganga. There's no entry fee. You can rent boats from there to experience the beautiful scenery of nature.

Princep ghat is a very well known place in Kolkata. Spending evenings out there are very pleasant. The sounds of the river, the breeze and the lonely view of the Vidyasagar Setu were soothing reprieve from the chaos of the city. The sunset with river Ganges and massive silhouette structure of 2nd Hooghly bridge as backdrop is perhaps the best in Kolkata.
Prinsep Ghat is a ghat built in 1841 during the British Raj, along the Kolkata bank of the Hooghly River in India. The Palladian porch in the memory of the eminent Anglo-Indian scholar and antiquary James Prinsep was designed by W. Fitzgerald and constructed in 1843. Located between the Water Gate and the St George's Gate of the Fort William, the monument to Prinsep is rich in Greek and Gothic inlays. It was restored by the state's public works department in November 2001 and has since been well-maintained. In its initial years, all royal British entourages used the Prinsep Ghat jetty for embarkation and disembarkation. Prinsep Ghat is one of the oldest recreational spots of Kolkata. People visit it in the evenings on weekends to go boating on the river, stroll along the bank and purchase food from stalls there. Beautiful place to spend your evenings. Amazing experience during sunset time. Good for photography and hang out with friends and others. Just excellent experience ever. The sunset look awesome. There was a boating service to do you can hang out.
This is a beautiful Memorial built by the British Raj to honour a very renowned Anglophile - James Prinsep credited with deciphering the ancient Indian Prakrit script. The memorial is very well maintained. We also took a boat ride in the evening in the Hoogly river which was very enjoyable.
Amazing and beautiful place to visit. But due to covid19, the main princep ghat and the building site is temporarily closed. Another ghat (2nd) near princep ghat towards Eden is open though.
The versatile indologist James Prinsep (Born 20th Aug 1799 and Death 22nd April 1840) come to India in 1819. He joined as the Assay-master of the Calcutta mint in 1829 and simultaneously took charge of the Asiatic society of Bengal as secretary. During his tenure some of the important works are- preparation of scripts of Brahmi and kharosti, introduction of uniform coinage of companie's rupees, reformation of the weight and measures and construction of circular canal connecting the river Hoogly and Sunderbans.
After his demise the citizens of Calcutta raised public fund of Rs. 12,000 and constructed the monument in 1841 on the eastern bank of the river Hoogly in memory of the versatile genious James Prinsep. The Prinsep Ghat became an important landing place for all those dignitaries who came to Calcutta by sea.
This historic heritage monuments has been restored to its original splendor and dignity without loss of its architectural character and esthetic by public works department, Government of West Bengal. The recent beautification work of this monument and surrounding premises has been undertaken under the guidance of the Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Really nice place and my opinion this is the best river side area for kolkata.one more things princepghat famous for food the name of "ghoti gorom". Ghoti gorom is a snacks item of kolkata street food.
Best for spending time with friends and family. A must visit place in kolkata along with “Ghoti Garam (a street food) ” in hand. Spend some time beside the river Ganga with yout loveble peoples.
I visited the palce yesterday. Due to present situation, Princep Ghat is closed. There is no update, when it would be going to open. However, you can enjoy the scenic beauty there & enjoy the street food. Parking is available.
Located very near to Fort Willems military area, this Ghat is very beautiful with an iconic structure in the front. From the Ghat we could hair manually controlled small boats for ride in the Hooghly river. Nearby Sarobar hanging bridge makes the spot more spectacular.
Take a cup of coffee or tea, with your favorite person, holding hand's tightly, and enjoy sunset on ganga river You feel the atmosphere created only for you
Nice Place to Hang Up with Friends and Family. Well cleaned Maintained Place.
During Visit Remember you are Under servillance. The opposite compound is Forwilliams. So very cautious about it. My own recommondation, dont park your vehicle in Fort williams boundary, as it attaracts fines and problems. Better to keep your four or two wheelers at Princep Ghat side road edge.
Must visit the Ganga ghat. Goos Photoghaphy place. If you are lucky you may found a new couple photoshoot for Pre Wedding.

Good for hangout with partners but not good for family. This place is quite controversial since a long time for its stupidity and every local ppl knows it very well.

Now this is preserved as a historical architecture! Government has made beautiful parks inside or around. You can see beautiful Hoogly Shetu or Vidyasagar Setu behind. This is an sure attraction of Kolkata city. . You can visit this place with friends and family. This place is also couple friendly place. The Palladian porch in the memory of the eminent Anglo-Indian scholar and antiquary James Prinsep was designed by W. Fitzgerald and constructed in 1843.
It is a perfect place for ' "বন্ধুদের সাথে আড্ডা দেয়ার জন্য " and for couples.it is a hidden gem of Kolkata where the evening cool air of Hoogly river refreshes your mind and soul. We enjoy sitting on the stairs of Princep ghat while sipping in lemon tea and delicious ghoti gorom. It is a very clean place & you can have boat ride here. It is a very peaceful place to spend your time where you can forget your all stress. It is a Fantastic place for PRE-WEDDING photoshoot and nature's sceraric beauty shoot.is not safe in night so it is better to went home after night. This place illuminate after which looks so attractive.
The beauty and charm of this place has been destroyed by the nasty couples.
The princep memorial and Babughat kind of pathways arranged by really lushing greens with well maintained seats are soothing in sight.
Avoid evening visit as you may find yourself in really embarrassing situation if you are along with family, by seeing the extent of nastiness and vulgarity.
Prices of goods in the stalls are really high than the outside, so it would be preferable if you bring snacks/water items from outside.
If you are a nature lover then this place is a must visit for you. It is bearing an amazing taste of scenic beauty where the riverside breeze and the 2nd hooghly bridge adds a beautiful flavour
