This shop is a place of pride for Bengali sweet lovers. But my personal preference is their 'kochuri' with 'cholar dal'. They have maintained the same finger licking tastes for decades. Just awesome.
Heavenly just as it can be, first time visit was 20 years ago and then a few days back. The vibe, kochuri dal taste and the doi are must try to taste the good old Kolkata. Self service to be remembered. Sweets are as special as the shop itself.
This puntiram is the life and tradition of Bengalis. In the evening, a plate of asafoetida kachuri and cholar dal. Nothing else accumulates in this the mold of our Rasana taste. Puntiram will remain, in Bengali rasna.
The Kachuri was not upto the mark. They provided alu torkari but didn't seem fresh. The kachuris were not crispy and. The quality of Putiram has deteriorated.
Putiram Sweets is one of the best sweet shops in town. They have a wide variety of sweets, from traditional Indian sweets to more modern confections. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they always go the extra mile to make sure their customers are happy. I would highly recommend Putiram Sweets for anyone looking for a delicious sweet treat!
Sweet quality is outstanding.spatial item is dal and kachuri.one of the oldest sweet shop in kolkata town. Everytime there will be a little bit croud.behavior of the owner is very friendly. UPI payment available here.situated beside the college square.the price of items are not much.
A horrible incident happened to me today, I went for parcel and he took the money and refused that I have not given any money and instead insulted me, It is a shame for anyone if someone gets embarrassed by the shopkeeper in front of other customers for not paying, they don’t even have camera so that I can able to prove it, I stay far away and because i want my mother to try their kachori once, I went there for parcel but instead it created such a scene which is really hard to describe, I lost my ₹100 for nothing, I don’t die because of that ₹100 but the behaviour and the insult that he did to me in front of other people is not acceptable, I really feel ashamed, being an educated guy I have to face such consequences from a so called famous shop of Kolkata, I will never forget this insult and will never visit the place again.
Thanks to the Shopowner (an old man with gray hair and wrinkle below his eyes and a mole) for such a nice behaviour and stay happy with that ₹100, you have lost a regular customer which doesn’t matter to you.
I have never expected that such an incident will happen to me, that too in a famous shop like this, I have made a mistake of paying before the parcel has been handed over to me and face such a horrible insult from a frustrated and rude owner.
Moreover he snatched the parcel from my hand, I can’t even express it to anyone that how rudely he insulted me.
Last but not the least a shopkeeper’s behaviour reflects the shop’s image
Putiram is primarily a sweet shop, in the sense, very famous for many delicious sweets and more for it's KOCHURI. Try it once and I am sure you will fall in love with PUTIRAM.
Authentic kachuri.at least try once. 4 kachuri (stuffed peas) plate worth rupees 30. Served with chana dal. Typical of it! Taste is good. Served hot. No arrangements for sit and eat. You have to eat standing. In the morning no problem for car parking. Overall you may try once at least. There are also sweets available as accompaniments
This is the oldest sweet shop in North Kolkata. Where we get awesome Kachori with tarkari. Old traditional sweets like elephant sweets Dukh sweets are available here White and without any other ingredients than sweet specially made for children are available here. If you want to buy singara then you have to buy it before 7 p.m. To 7: 30 p.m. Otherwise you will not get it. Their red rosogolla is Osadharan, cost per piece rupees 10 only.
Had a plate of kochuri, each plate consists of 4 kochuri and each plate is 30rs.
But it felt like very cheap and average kochuri which we eat here and there. The sabji (Cholar dal) they provided with the kochuri was very watery.and they are selling special alur dom as special sabji.so this is what we call cheap marketing. Dissatisfied
A renowned confectionery located next to College Square that offers ambrosial sweets and samosas at a reasonable price. Since I spent majority of my school life around College Street, I have a soft corner for this shop. And to be honest they never disappoint us. Bon Appetit.
Now putiram started compromise the quantity of product. Like last week I bought cup sondesh, before it was full of the cup but now they cover the top and below no material intact. Like if you see outside it's look big but actual material is half of that. My message to owner now businesses runs according to consumers. Don't compromise on quantity and quality neither that day is not fur vintage will loose the image.
I love their kachuri with dry aloo sabzi more than chholer dal the tiny samosa too all made of ghee the kachori 's r very soft & fluffy but today little disappointed. I asked the boy to gave sabzi but later when I opened it 's the sweet chholar dal
The best and oldest known dalpuri and cholar dal in town. Cholar dal available after 10.30 in the morning. Before that you will get a potato sabzi.try n go for cholar dal. Their sweets are awesome toooo. Njoy
One of the best Sweet Shop in Central Kolkata (Close to College St.) 2 items are very femous (Misti Sada Doi & Kheer er Nadu). Let's try and review yourself.)
As my previous office was in College square, Putiram used to be the daily dose of sweetness in my life. I have tasted their Pantua and Chanar Jilipi for several times and they tasted very good. I have also tried their Singara which is a perfect evening snack along with a hot cup of tea. This is one of the legendary sweet shops in College street area and I definitely recommend to try their sweets.
One has to absolutely taste the divine Radha Ballavi which they serve out of oil frying kadai (I have never seen them serve stale and cold dalda hardedned ones), they alternate the accompaniment between a very runny alur dom and moderately thick cholar daal. Both are bound to etch a very deep mark on your gastronomic memory.
This shop is famous for kachuri and Cholar dal. Sweets are beautiful and fresh. Budget is ok. You will be happy after eating sweets here. And kachuri is the best thing of this shop. You should try this once.
One of the best place for sweets & snacks near college square gate, very old and famous for special sandesh.awesome taste and most importantly maintaining hygine
It's very near to Calcutta University. A crowded and prominent place. A must go for all college goers and old and new book lovers. Luchi and dal, sandesh etc.are delicious. But post lockdown price is sky rocketing

An iconic sweet shop of North Kolkata.to be more precise of College Square area. A must try item at this joint is koraisuti kachori and dal. Dal is tad on the sweeter side.but be it kachori or samosa both are fried in desi ghee (clarified butter). And tastes amazing. Currently because of pandemic situation sitting inside the food joint is currently prohibited.
This place only famous by name. Sweets are totally disgusting. The amount of sweets is very low according to the money. If you buy from this store your money will be waste
Putiram sweet is a well-known sweet shop. Try the icecream sandesh as one of their speciality. They have good variety of sweets and good pricing. Highly recommended.
A legend of the Calcutta's culinary scape, Putiram stands tall as one of the last vendors of the kochuri + daal combo. But if the daal is what you must have with your kochuri then 10 AM is the time after which they start serving it. Before 10 AM you'll only have the option of an aloo'r torkari, that doesn't justify Putirams legend. Their mishtis are ok, but Putiram has always been synonymous with kochuri+daal.
History. Putiram is one of the best culinary heritages at College Street, Kolkata. A sweetmeat/confection shop or plain 'mishtir dokan' in Bengali- Putiram is standing tall and proud for decades, in the face of rigid competition from modern fast food/ cake-pastry shops.
Delicious kachori and sabzi. Situated just beside Umesh Chandra college, college St. This famous shop is just 2 min walking distance from Calcutta University and presidency University. This is very famous among all, not only college students but whoever visits college St they buys sweets from putiram. Old shop but very famous.we can call it an asset to Kolkata. Authentic taste and delicacy is the USP of this shop. No need of outer decoration, the product that they sell is enough to win anyone's heart. Must visit

Amazing place. Located beside a road. Good food is served. You need to self serve yourself. You'll get reasonably priced delicious delicacies. Most notable for sweets of different diversity. Although other items are also available for breakfast and lunch or maybe just for a light snack break.
A true hidden gem in college Street area. It's a great place for breakfast, kachuri and alur torkari. Awesome taste and not that expensive. Please bear in mind they have time limit till when they serve the breakfast, usually 9am. Highly recommended if you're out there for some jogging in the early morning.

This sweet shop is heritage of kolkata. The food items specially Kachuri and Singara is so much famous all over the north kolkata. Self service is available here and best option to take refreshments while visiting College street
Unnecessary hyped! VERY Rude behaviour by the old man sitting in the counter and the staffs. It used to be good 10 years back, now it is just overrated and overpriced!
It's a very old shop. I had come here after reading reviews and found my visit worth it. In morning you get kochori and cholar daal. They are too good. Rest of the day you can savour delicious sweets shop has to offer. Try it! Trust me u won't regret!

It is one of the old sweet shop in Kolkata. I suggest to visit their shop and enjoy their taste.
I have been living in Kolkata since birth but yesterday was the first time I tasted the lip smacking taste of sweets from Putiram. Chitrakut a popular sweet in Bengal these days is a dollop of flour in the middle in most sweet shops these days, but not Putiram. The moment I picked up the sweet it was soft and putting it in my mouth it just melted. I am sure I will keep hitting Putiram sweets everytime I visit North Kolkata going forward.
An old and reputed bengali sweets and snack shops, located southern end of College Square Swimming pool on Surya Sen Street. Taste of sweets & snacks are very good and rates are reasonable.
People who love deserts should visit this place. Wide range of options available here. Hot Kachuris and off beat Doi are must have items of this place.
Very good place. Sweets are delicious. The khirer chop is marvellous. The radhaballabi and n the evening is mouth watering. Everything is made of asli ghee, so that is a big plus. The taste of the food and the sweet is a class and the servicing is prompt and good. Price is not too cheap neither too expensive. A good shop to try the sweets from.
