Quaint Wood Cottage-Sherpa khangba

We stayed 3 nights over there. Very bad experience we have ever facing. Food price is too much high. You can't even imagine that simple 'Egg Thali' they charged ₹180/- simple 'Chiken Thali' they charged ₹280/-

Homestay owner Mr. Rapden Dorji is literally a Fraud and Thief person. His behavior is disgusting. He don't know how to behave with the guest. Booked this homestay through Goibibo. We arrived Jorbanglo at 7: 30 p.m. Due to very bad and cold weather, I requested to the owner to arrange a car for us. When I asked for fare, he said that you have to pay only ₹200/- So, We agreed and arrived his homestay by his car.

On 2nd day Mr. Rapden told me that he didn't get any amount from Goibibo. I called Goibibo support and informed the matter, they had taken a conference call with the owner including me. During the call Mr. Rapden literally threatened with slang language that if he didn't get his amount within 5 minutes, then he will get out us even during the night time. (Agar mujhe 5min ke andar pura paisa nahi mila to hum raat ko hi nikal denge ye logo ko)

He demanded ₹1800/- per night charge to the Goibibo team instead of his actual charge ₹1500/- per night. But Team Goibibo helped us a lot and Mr. Ravi (Goibibo CEO) transferred the amount ₹5400/- to his account instantly.

On the day of checkout Mr. Rapden Dorji gave us the bill of fooding and room heater which we used and Extra ₹500/- for car charge which he arrenged for us on that day. I request him to take ₹200/- as per the conversation but he denied and said that you didn't book my car for sightseeing, you didn't take full amount of fooding here. "Mera kuch bhi faida nahi hua aap logo se".

So, My final review is do not check positive rating only while booking any hotel or homestay online. You must check negetive rating first to know the truth. If you don't believe me then go to this homestay and meet that 3rd class person once, you will have better experience than us.

The cottage is situated at a beautiful location.and the hospitallity of the owner of this cottage Respected Sherpa Dorgi sir is best. He provides what the coustomer wants. He care his guests like that they are his familiy members. He also care proper hygine of food which he provides to his coustomer. Such a beautiful cottage

A true "home away from home" and a "family away from family". First about the host. A very warm, welcoming and friendly family who not only open the door to their house to strangers but also their hearts. I completely forgot that Rapden Da and Dawa didi and her mom were strangers to me just 60 days ago.
A bit about the property and location. Facts - Sherpa Khangba is nestled in the bejeweled 'village' of Alubari at just 25 mins walk from chowrasta. It's hard to believe such a place can exist in the bustling Darjeeling that too at such short distance by foot. Sunrises as seen from the home is absolutely to die for.
I had the best workaction experience here. Wifi connectivity is seamless.
My mornings started with staring at the most amazing sunrise from the window of my room, while sipping a hot cup of Darjeeling tea. This was followed by a super energizing run/jog to Jorebunglow. The day was spent working on my computer which now was oh so delightful because the whole day I was accompanied by the mighty ranges of Kanchenjunga right from my room's window where my make shift workstation was set up. What do I even mention about the food! Hot, fresh, delicious food kept coming in at exact times. And still Dawa didi was worried I am not eating enough! OMG! The climax of the day would be another refreshing walk/jog/run to chowrasta coupled with tons of shopping. From my room I would stare at the glittering lights in the far away mountain villages and effortlessly slip into the best sleep I have had in many years. After staying here for around 2 months I go back today fitter, healthier and my heart full of amazing memories of all the love and warmth I received. Now on, I am going to wait to come back to Alubari and to the amazing Sherpa Khangba.

Like every mountaineer needs a Sherpa, every traveller needs a guide. Rapden is both a Sherpa and a guide. His motto is'Atithi Devo Bhabo': Guests are akin to God. Very amicable, always there for you and provides all the value-added services you need. Also, I could see Kanchenjunga from my room. Awesome place to stay:)

Despite demise of my colleague brother in law, hotel management was informed well in advance and they asked them to come and refused refund. Such horrible thinking and terrible experience from here.

Not suggested at all for booking in Darjeeling. Very very bad.

I had come to Alubari alone without any idea of what is going to happen but in the 2-3 days I stayed here, I’ve had experiences that I’ll cherish forever.

From a comfortable check-in to becoming my guide for the trip around Darjeeling to giving me tasty food and keeping me entertained with his lovely personality - Rapden was a delight.

Rapden’s Quaint wood cottage is located in this tiny beautiful location outside Darjeeling called Alubari. It has the best views you can get while you’re sitting in your balcony sipping hot tea

You could easily walk to Darjeeling town from here if you’d want to.

On my last day, it snowed, it was like a dream. Rapden made sure I don’t get overwhelmed with such change in weather and kept me engaged in conversations.
He also personally dropped me off to Siliguri while showing me beautiful locations midway.

Rapden has two beautiful cats Gigi and Kalu that you’re gonna get to pet if you visit.

Had planned a trip for my friends from North India who were travelling with their family during Durga Puja holidays. Mind you it was peak period with tourist traffic running into crores. Daiju had gone above and beyond tha call of duty to make my friends' stay memorable. People like him are the backbone of the tourism sector because they ensure people have a good time in their town. The place they take pride in belonging.

Amazing place with incredible views, delicious home cooked food and ambient, quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

You cannot help but fall in love with Rapden and Dawa's beautiful cottage. Away from the hustle bustle of the main town, quaint wood cottage is perfectly located 20 mins (walking distance) up the hill. The rooms are cosy and spacious with an unbeatable view! You can literally spend the entire day in the cottage looking at the view from your bed like I did. Coming to their hospitality, Rapden and Dawa treats you like family. They are the warmest and the kindest. I literally cannot see myself staying at any other place in Darjeeling besides quaint wood cottage.

Through rain & mist we arrive at Quaint Wood Cottage, standing amidst the clouds, on the daunting edges of Tenzing Norgay Road, Alubari! Though at the beginning it felt wrong to have taken a place that far away from the town of Darjeeling, but once reaching the place, there were no doubts, it was the best place to loose yourself into the nature, to feel the mountains, yet convenient enough to reach the town and find other vehicles for rent!
On arriving, Mr. Sherpa, the host with a warm greeting welcomed and showed us around the place. A cosy and spacious cottage, very well maintained, clean and hygienic, including a balcony with a great view, and rooms that gave us the view of the Sunrise!
Mrs. Dawa (Mr. Sherpa's spouse) over the entire time of our visit took care of us with her delicious cooking, that we definitely will never forget!
Other than the perfect positioning of the cottage and comfortable stay the best part was the hospitality and warmth we were provided with, that made us all feel like home far from home!
The entire Darjeeling trip was a great one, but the best part was to stay over Quaint Wood Cottage, a place with both affordable stay and fooding, with the luxury of feeling home, a feeling hard to express, which made us feel like never leaving! No doubt but someday I definitely would love to go back there!
Anybody planning a trip to Darjeeling is definitely recommended to give them a try, I guarantee an absolute gratification!

I happened to visit my old friend after years but was sceptical of the fact that it would go well also to the taste of my family and kids. Let me say they freaked out. Though the weather held us back from the walks and sight seeing, we never got bored indoors. The wooden earthy interiors were just to match a traditional stay. Home cooked food was lip smacking with each meal served. Our yearn for sight from the window and corridor after the three day incessant rain gave just the parting touch to the aesthetics to make it a lifetime imprint.
Not just a friend but I found in Rapten and his wife Dava amazing hosts. If you are not a modern amenities freak and luxury lover.this is the place the warmth, breathtaking sight and yummy food will make up more than that. May God bless Rapten and Dava. Quaint Wood Cottage in really quaint and so wooden. ️️️️

We are overwhelmed with Rapden's (owner) hospitality. Love there place. Sleeping Buddha's view is mesmerizing here.
