Nostalgia. Remembering baba with whom i visited this iconic address decades back. Mutton stew is still heaven.and the tea, so refreshing. Passing on the delight to my daughter.
It is a heritage eatery of Kolkata that is synonymous with Darjeeling tea, fresh fish kabiraji, mutton stew, mutton korma, fish finger and bread toast. The place is located adjacent to Lake Mall and is the quintessential adda joint of Bengali intelligentsia and connoisseur of Bengali snacks like fish fry, fish kabiraji and aromatic Darjeeling tea.
Too much rush & waiting for tea. Which is totally substandard. All fried items, irrespective of fish, mutton or prawn fried in the same oil. The only positive thing is the burned oil is discarded everyday
Fantastic stew. Best fish fry at the most reasonable price. One of the best tea. The best authentic quality food outlet. I would recommend to try the fish fry rather than kabiraji even though both are pretty delicious.
Legendary tea shop at Lake market. Located at Janak Road, the lane beside lake mall towards Rashbehari. Famous for its kabiraji style fries and tea this place has a heavy footfall in the evenings.
One of the best fish fries in Calcutta. Looks unimpressive but one of the most recommended food takeaway in Calcutta. Hurry before everything is finished by 6'o clock! Authentic food at it's best.
Great tea shop. Having been visiting this place since many years. Food items are available too such as fish fry, fish finger etc. They are quite delicious!
Authentic stew.a cup of good tea and a toasted slice of bread.what else a pedestrian shall look for cheap lunch. A good old-school tea shop with honest effort and bangaliana.
Radu Babu tea stall is one of the old ready to drink tea shop in South kolkata, this is very old, post 1947, this tea stall server tea to people
Some how i dont like the tea, and the way they make the tea. This one of the worst tea I ever had, very dirty way of servings, loclal old people and the people's who like to do some morning walk they spent some time there.
In the evening they server some non veg Mughlai item whis is good
An excellent tea shop with ready to bite foods. Quality is good. Prices are very economic. It has a nostalgic and old kolkata charm with a rich history of famous patrons. One extra star for that. Many well educated and cultured people throng the place. You need to visit once to feel the ambience.
Tea at it’s very best. The way Bong’s have their tea.strong and yet rich in aroma. Your visit to South Kolkata isn’t complete without a morning/ evening visit to Radhu Babu’s. Enjoy the experience of the finest blend of tea leaves on the streets of Kolkata. Parking challenges.
Here to put a temporary break on your diet plans. Famous for tea that is made to order, fish finger, cutlet (fish/chicken/prawn). Must visit for a hot cup of tea on a chilly winter evening like this. Service is very very quick- they serve within seconds that too with a smile. Tip: place only sits six people inside so be aware that you might have to stand and savour what you order
At one time it was one of the best fast food joint, frequented by celebs. Some have have not been able to keep up with the competition. The quality of food has deteriorated considerably.
Probably as old as Indian independence, this small non descript shop, barely discernable to those who haven't been here before, with the only clue being the long que of patrons waiting to be served, has some of the best delicacies to be found in Calcutta. From prawn cutlet, to mutton stew and bread toast, this can be your daily haunt for your evening darjeeling tea, and mutton that is tender enough to melt in the mouth. Go there with friends or colleagues and have an evening conversation about innannanities or the profound, and while away your time thinking and talking of distant lands and unexplored, yet unconceived ideas, and yet unseen utopias. The perfect place for gourmet food lovers, dreamers, debaters, and the quixotic. Try this place and you will never regret coming here; if not for the food, then the great conversation over tea.
Authentic Bengali cutlet, fish fry. Hard to get them after 8 pm, they tend to sell out. The mutton stew and mutton korma are tasty and always fresh. #bengalifood
I think it is needless to talk about Radhu Baby's Tea stall. It is already very much famous in South Calcutta. Still I would like to mention that their quality of food and obviously tea is pretty impressive. You can enjoy delicious fish/mutton/chicken kabiraji or cutlet at only 50/-. So, it is pretty much affordable and recommended to all people including students.
Radhu Babu's This age old joint is located in a lane near the Lake Mall. Flocked by the locals and foodies, this place is said to carry a heritage of its own. They say that quite a number of eminent personalities have once visited this place for a cup of tea and toast.
The ambience however isn't anything mentionable. Though an 8-seater, this place does serve you a good experience.
Tried their fish fry, fish finger and chicken cutlet. The fish seemed fresh and the crust was pretty fine. Cost us around 150 bucks. For a visit to where Bappi da has been, fair deal?
If you're a Bengali with an unconditional love for your cha and adda, this is a place to be. Some cutlet would do no harm either.

Old & heritage tea stall in South Kolkata. The owner is still running his business avoiding provocation of promoting community as well as fear of political mafia.
Casual place. One of the oldest tea shop with quick bites. They serve tea, toasts and omelettes in the morning 6-9. In the evening from 4-8 they have various snacking items. Food is good. Tea nice. But their service and behaviour is below par, sometimes irresponsible, irritable at times
Tea is best enjoyed in company of people and this seems to be the basis on which the owner Radhu babu had set up his tea stall. A small tea shop in a narrow lane of lake market area, seems to always overflowing with people when I visit this place. There's people sitting inside, people waiting patiently at the entrance, people sitting on the side walkways with cups of tea in hand and more people standing on the opposite side waiting for an opening in the crowd to slip in quietly and reach the shop for that wonderful cuppa that the shop serves. The tea can be had in various forms and depending on one's preference-with milk/raw with sugar/raw without sugar/with milk but no sugar/with milk and sugar. In all forms the brew, with every sip, am sure, breathes vivacity and joviality in the drinker! A must visit for those who prefer to taste the Bengali bhodrolok er chaa standing on the footpath. The tea usually comes in the thick porcelain cups that one gets to see in the indian Railways. You could stand sipping the tea while feeding crumbs of the chicken cutlet or fish finger to the dogs waiting patiently on the fringes of the shop.
