Approximately 20 minutes from Shantiniketan is an off-beat resort which boasts of some very quaint features like duplex mud huts and a small pond right at the centre of the estate. Once again (as is the case with most of the places I write about) if you crave ultra modern facilities and swank then this is not a place for you. The simplicity of being amidst rural bengal, enjoying delicious home-cooked style meals and lazing about the well maintained lawns is what Raktakarabi offers its guests. If you have your own transportation then heading out to Shantiniketan for the day and coming back to the refreshing silence of the resort is a perfect plan. Recommending the cool months of December-January to visit and make the most of relaxing in the sun. Don’t forget to look ip the dates for the ever famous “poush mela” which is held every year at Shantiniketan.
